  • Love Chrissy singing this cover, just wish she could hit that upper register in the chorus the way it was intended. Still, love her & this version.

  • awesome pirates of the carribean

    :D

  • buffer buffer fuck ur pfffffffffffft

  • ahhhhhh purrrrrrfeckked.....

  • And yet again, a better version again than the shaggy version.

  • @TronixGuy93 Shaggy never mad a version of this. He sampled it for a different song.

  • @a999op "Reggae artist Shaggy released a single titled "Angel" that featured Rayvon in 2001. The song was a reworked version of "Angel of the Morning" and featured new lyrics, turning it into an apology and homage to his lady love, instead of the original's tone of a one-night stand. This song spent one week at #1."

    ( h t t p : / / e n . w i k i p e d i a . o r g / w i k i / A n g e l _ o f _ t h e _ M o r n i n g )

To me, sampling wether on a more complete level or not is still copying.

  • @TronixGuy93 I read that. And I don't care.

  • @a999op Good for you.

  • I like the Juice Newton version. There.

  • pretty decent cover version by Chrissy and company. Try a reload button, it did not seem to drop-out after that. It has nothing to do with the pirate movie, but Kiera Knightly is a babe, so I'll give it a pass.

  • pretty decent cover version by Chrissy and company.

  • the electronic interuption of this rendition, is inexcusable ! reproduction blocking efforts deminish credibility of creators value to present art !

  • Whoever wrote this song owes me a heart-felt apology, and there's no fucking way in fucking Hell I'm taking, "no," for an answer!

  • ahaaa pirates of the caribbean

  • @reddawg7246 Im pretty sure it has some thing to do with the beggining, with that chick and guy. The MB might be to big on the video

  • I've some special feelings attached with this song... Love it man!!

  • I love Chrissie Hynde, but I prefer the Juice Newton version out of all of them.... Bonnie Tyler recorded a version of this song and it's not that good at all, but they can all sing it better than me I'm sure! lol. Thanks so much for uploading this :)

  • @lawgirl2007 I am with you on this one (and several others too, by the reading of it) - i also love the edginess of Chrissies voice in songs like "Chain Gang", but to say that she has the range of voice of Juice Newton is just plain wrong - Chrissie sings it nicely, but .........

  • The Pretenders did a great job. I saw her play this on Friends the other day, haven't seen that episode in years.

  • Yh that Friends 1 is on TV here now. That's y I looked it up an the 1st post was urs saying u saw it in the same place lol

  • thats funny beacuse i saw it on friends as well, that episode is one of my favorites

  • @134625798258 a very early appearance of Frank Jr too (he leaves a condom in Phoebe's guitar case then comes back for it).

  • @HugsnNuclearArms

That is quite a statement. I thought Chrissie just nailed this song. Juice didn't have much range at all. But you are just trolling so I just wasted 2.5 seconds of my life responding to this.

  • @HugsnNuclearArms fuck you eh

  • I agree. This version is terrible.

Juice Newton sings this best anyways.

  • @ItBrandonSilver fuck off, this version is the best, she has true feeling in her voice

  • Go listen to Juice Newton's version, dumbass. That is THE best. No question.

  • @ItBrandonSilver i heard it and the vocals are about even, but the instrumentals in this version are better

  • You can't improve on perfection (Marilee Rush)

  • juice newton

  • Who originally sang this song?

  • Merrilee Rush and the Turnabouts in 1968

  • Comment removed

  • Billie Davis

  • @gerardwny It was first recorded by Joya Landis, but was not released because the Record Co. went bankrupt;first released by Billie Davis, first to chart was Merrilee Rush & the Turnabouts at #7,Juice Newton charted at #1;but I have always loved the Pretenders!

  • doublesmiley (;)

  • is there a carpenters version?

  • @pomeranianlovah1 ,unfortunate they did not do this because any song Karen sang would turn Gold!

  • Brilliant! Thanks!!

  • what is the band's name?

  • Orchid4421: The Pretenders

  • the pretenders - angel of the morning

  • Chrissie Hynde undoubtly has the best (pop, rock, folk,..., you pick) female voice ever.

  • its just slow loading, wait a while and then play its great

  • great song, great video a+

  • Leave it to Chrissy to put her own stamp on such a great song she does a great job here... got some soul cookin in it.. very nice

  • One of the best versions of this song.

  • Hahahahahahahhaah wtf Pirates of the Carribean.. Way to ruin a good song.

  • It doesn´t matter how it starts and stop at all..

Thank you very much sharing this voice of the

pretenders . it´s very very precious for me to hear

her singing this song for the first time. I know now she is one of the greatest singer of the world!

  • just hit pause when it starts, then let it load, then play it. This is the best version of this song

  • It clears up once you get past the WAY-TOO-BIG file of video footage from "Pirates of the Caribbean."

  • Just play it, stutters and all, for the first minute then start again; it will be ok. The Pretenders always treat a song well.

  • Beautiful song, thank you for posting. I'm 29 but know how to appreciate real music :)

  • touching/timeless/wonderful tune by a classy lady

  • i love this song :-)

  • I love Chrissie's version of this song.

  • fucking best version.

    i LOVEEEEEEE it.

  • Since -87 I've specially liked Pretenders

but this was new for me...ihanan ihanaa

    musiikkia, ihimisen korvaa hivelee!

    Mieli mukavata ajattelee,

    kenties soittaa uudelleen!

  • Juu juu, olen samaa mieltä.

  • Thank you Dan!

  • Love this song :))))))

  • One of my favorite songs to sing on live bands:-)

  • I really love this version!

  • I love this version

  • WOW, so great - a big THANK YOU, CaptainNoya!

I have been liking this song so much since 2001 Anne Murray's song version. You've chosen sweet video clips. I translated the song into German. It reminds me of my journey to California, just before 11th Sept. 2001. Kindest regards from Germany to you over there, wherever you live at the moment - good luck in your life - from Anne

  • Hey captain, What's wrong with the beginning?

  • hey... this song sounds like "Shaggy-Angel" Doesn´t it?

  • everybody sang it.

    Chip Taylor wrote it.

  • v true

  • i was thinkin the same thing but yeah same tune :)

  • Excuse me for my bad english but i like the version of olivia newton jhon,

  • There's is no discussion: the original version is by the one and only Chip Taylor (brother of John Voigt and uncle of Angelina Jolie)... check out youtube for it!

  • With all my respect, I heard his version but, I like this pretenders version better. It's more touching.

  • I've listened to many versions of this songs. but my favorite has to be Juice.

  • exactly. there isn't even a close second. juice's is the definitive recording

  • this is the best verion ever!!

  • umm, the original is by Juice Newton.

To be quite honest, the Chrissie Hynde cover is much better. And it's Hynde not Cynde.

  • The original was by Merilee Rush... in the late 60s.. Juice Newton covered it in the late 70's but this one really rocks...

  • Well, P.P. Arnold recorded the song in 1967.

  • umm, the original is by Juice Newton.

To be quite honest the the Chrisse Hynde cover is much better. And it's Hynde not Cynde.

  • It is NOT by juice Newton, Sir. I really wish that you would do your homework.

  • I prefer Chrissie Hynde!!!!

  • you guys are right. sorry

  • lol I completely agree, I hate when people do this crap.....The Carpenters and Pretenders are two completely separate entities...wow...change the title.

  • Guys get real this the Pretenders NOT the Carpenters! What are you twelve that you can't tell Chrissie Cynde's limited ranged vocal from a TRUE Miss Karen Carpenter sung performance?

    Change your title!

  • yeah this doesn't sound anything like karen
