  • i guess this film must creep out the shit off of my pants. fuck you, saw.

  • One of my all time favorite movies. Thank you Kevin McCarthy and R.I.P.!

  • RIP Kevin McCarthy

  • @Jamesdeanlfcfan I had not heard he had died! He was pretty old -- 96, right?

  • @spunkybart yeah, died Sept 11th Natural Causes

  • In an interview Kevin McCarthy said someone at the studio objected to the naked bodies of the pods.

They objected, as you know, to the original dark ending, and attached a diferent (bad) happier ending to it.

  • @000266617 -- Yes, I had heard that the studio had required a happier ending, lol! I guess the original one would probably have ended on the same dark note as the '70s remake! Funny about the objection to the naked bodies...

  • @spunkybart Kevin McCarthy said the original version ended with Miles, ( near insanity,) yelling like a maniac as the cars going by, the drivers ignoring him as a nutcase. After the pod person says, "no one will belive him" and the trucks full of pods leave for all over the nation. (No happy ending, the pod people win with Miles gone mad, dark huh?)

  • @000266617 I think it would be cool to have a 2010 remake -- wonder who could play the lead...

  • @spunkybart the best remake was the one in the 70's with Lenard Nimoy (spock) and Sutherland., that you must see if you haven't already. The Nicole Kidman one was reportedly not well done at all. I'm not too crazy about more remakes of this great film. Don't think they would do it right.

  • @000266617 I only saw the Nimoy/Sutherland one -- didn't know about the Kidman one!

  • This storyline was in the fictitious city of Santa Mira, California in the 1956 version. Is it just a coincidence that it was in San Francisco in the remake? Now I know how leftists are created.

  • Back yardin!

    Back yardin!

Just a chit chat party in the garden

just ur barbucue and a friend or two

where you don't give a f*** beg your pardon

    thats back yardin

  • lol -- yep, there are a lot of bubbles, right?

  • Don't you just hate it when those big gross sea pods start to sprout while you are trying to grill your steaks?

    Another backyard Bar-B-Que ruined...again.

  • LOL...exactly what I was thinking!

  • lol

  • Must clone more Watchtower slaves.

    Must clone more Watchtower slaves.

    Must clone more Watchtower slaves.

    Must clone more Watchtower slaves.

  • I definitely think this is the best one. Then the '78 remake. And then in last place comes the '07 remake.

  • What program did you use, since you can see part of the program menu?

  • I used iShowU.

  • Amazing classic. I love the pods in this movie, truly creepy.

  • Yea. I like both this one and the later one with Donald Southerlin -- for different reasons.

The black and white contributes to the tone of the movie.

  • The 1978 verison is my favorite movie. The remake movie made him my favorite actor.

    :)
