i fucking knew it! the water did used to be green in the title sequence, they changed it to blue when they updated the titles about 2009 or 08 cant remember
@KieranD212 it did indeed lol, it was blue originally (1985-93) then this colour from 93 til 99, then they updated it again to include the millenium dome, to that rather ludgy colour. Now theyve gone back to blue in late 2009 :).
It actually sounds nice. But it's not EastEnders. I always think of it as a great arrangement of the theme music, but it was wrong to even think it would work as the EE main theme!
It ran for 11 months, from (I think) May 1993 to April 1994. It was created by the original composer, Simon May, on request of the BBC. The two subsequent versions have also been done by May.
I love EastEnders and prefer this opening to the 1 now but it's still good though, I got the 1992-1994 Arsenal Home Shirt recently and I love retro things from the 90s the best decade ever! EastEnders is great though! :)
cool, I Had no idea until the live episode that i worked out I was 10months old when Eastenders first aired. my mum has watched it since it first aired
This was one of the worst changes ever made. I don't mind things altering for the better but this was just dire. It sounded like a cheap day time soap theme when they only have a budget of 50p for the entire project. Absolutely awful.
I only saw heard this on one episode, then not long after, it was back to normal again. I assumed there must've been complaints about it, because I thought it sounded shit aswell.
i never liked this map either and i realised it was because, if you look, its actually what became the widescreen map (more river seen on each end) on the non-widescreen ratio lol then they changed the map and put it back to how it was then when widescreen came along it went back to this except it wasnt so small looking with the top and bottom parts cropped! lol
Yes but if it would have been better if they actually reverted back to the original rather than make a replicate but the current replicate is closer to the original.
OMG i remember this theme tune. I must have been about 7. They only used it for about a year didn't they then it reverted back to a similar version pre-Jazzy theme. LOL.
They then did a replica of the original version after the Jazzy attempt, the real original theme tune is better but I like the way this jazzy sounds like a Roland midi music production.
I actually don't mind these credits! :)

May 1993 what memories! I can remember this theme tune coming into play just before Pete Beale (senior) left the show.

I like the tune,
But I don't think it's one I'd have as the theme tune of Eastenders.
