  • does anyone know how i can properly cite this is chicago format? I'm writing a essay on canada's participation in the viet nam war for school, and I want to use Lee Zaslofsky's words. Should i consider this an interview? Where's the video from?

  • A legal war? Most ridiculous thing in the world. 1. Self-Defense or 2. United Nation permission. If those are the only two ways then 99% of the wars ever start were illegal. How do you even start a war? Someone has to start it and who are the United Nations to think they are the only ones who can give a different government the permission to start a war. That and I didn't know there was a legal way of killing mass amounts of people.

  • I love canada

  • @afgfam786 oh canada the place for pussies

  • @GrandmasGoodies glad i live here free health care for me call me a ussy id rather be called one and have poutines, free health care and not be hated by every country

  • @thebomb667 do you want to know why the US is hated by every country? The US was the first country in the world to say "FUCK YOU" to all the other countries that wanted us to be like them.

The US government does everything they can to try to be POLITICALLY CORECT, but you still dont like us. NOBODY IN THE US GIVES A FUCK ABOUT WHAT THE WORLD THINKS OF US.

We have free health care to you fuckin idiot, but we dont want it because we can actually pay for it

  • @GrandmasGoodies first you dont have free health care you have health insurance 2 different things since when did america have universal helathcare? this is news to me guy! and its not that other countries want you to be like them it's how you're all un educated idiots whom think they know a thing or 2 and are really cocky one day you'll learn your lesson when russia, north korea and china attack you and canada will be fine

  • @thebomb667 if you would have read what i said it might have answered your question. sense doesnt everybody in the world hates us we try to be nice and politically correct and everybody still like us. that proves that no one has a reason to hate us.

we are not un educated. first ones to fly to the moon, invented the A bomb, invented the telephone, invented the lightbulb, invented the computer and the internet, best and most powerful military in the world.

we know we are cocky, we have a reason

  • @GrandmasGoodies your so sped im american first of all i hate this country every one is ignorant and fucking cocky they need to learn some shit and so do you first off we didnt invent the lightbulb or telephone canada did second no one cares about the moon theres nothing there? 3rd i wouldnt be happy to build the atom bomb because russia has the tsar bomb which could rape this country if they dropped 3 at once

  • @GrandmasGoodies to carry on no america didnt invent the interent our military was the first to use it but the UK and Canada had the idea and first invented it together we used it doesnt mean shit and 4th you are so sped it's unbeleivable you must live in texas or alabama in the middle of a bush you greasy fuck

  • @thebomb667 darnell up here knows what right, and go on xbox live

  • This joker joined the military and he did not know what he was getting into. The job of the military is to break things and to shoot weapons and now this coward is complaining about combat. 'Give me a break. Hope these bastards now in Canada with the Viet Nam cowards.

  • i find it pathertic that this is not reported in most world media.

  • People who sign on to the armed forces--VOLUNTARILY--then decide that they made a mistake are NOT 'resisters'. You can't compare these people to those who fled conscription in the 1960s, who really had no choice. These 'resisters' probably wanted the scholarships and whatnot that accrue from military service. Then, they found out that out that (shock!) it's about killing people and/or getting killed/maimed. Just send these idiots back, to deal with their own stupid mistakes.

  • as an american I have one question. How do you Canadians always get it right? I look north and I see I group of great people that we should look up to. God bless Canada. We could learn more than a few things from you.

  • Why doesn't Canada disband their military? Why do they still have an army, navy, and air force?

  • Why does any country have an army, navy, and air force? The reason should be to only be able to protect itself from unjust invasion or to lend a hand to a vulnerable neighbor threatened by an unjust force. If false propaganda(fear mongering) dictates the reason we should go to war, run! Let the corrupt elite powers fight for their own way of life instead of forcing the life out of those who want not to harm others. Dad fought in Italy WW2. Cousin (Canadian volunteer) for Vietnam. Shotbutsurvivd

  • war resisters come from many directions. War resisters from within the military are as welcome as armchair pacifists who avoid militarisation and active pacifists who stare down or walk away from confrontation with the war machine. We are one in peace which is diverse and tolerant, and peace presumes some working knowledge of the reality of war today. War speaks for itself.

  • I'd happily house any of these people. If this were a legit and legal war, I might have different views on people deserting a volunteer army, but when they, along with the rest of the US, were lied to repeatedly about the nature of this war and also I'm sure by their recruiting officers, I have no problem with them waking up and walking out. If someone steps foot on our soil and threatens us, I'll be among the first to fire a shot, but wars of aggression are not what this Republic is about.

  • And those who do so will continue to be prosecuted under US law. I have no doubt every war has had its resisters and deserters. That dosen't change the responsibility of the individual to obey the laws or face the consequences. In this case he chose to face the consequences. Fine.

  • If you do not agree with why this country went to war, fine. Many people in the US would agree with you. Thats not the point. This guy, if he deserted, cannot give a desertation on why he did so after he voluntarily joined the military and gave an oath to serve his country in the military and then decide he really didn't mean what he said. There is a price to be paid if this guy was paid to learn a job then after being paid to learn it and swears to perform his duties , then deserts.

  • My undestanding in combat arms is they must be double volunteers. 1st to join the military and 2nd they must volunteer for combat arms. This guy volunteered twice then changed his mind when he saw dead bodies and apparently got scared. His political opinions probobly had nothing to do with his desertion until later. He took it upon himself to desert his fellow soldiers in the face of danger. We are all different and react to war differently, but are accountable for our actions.

  • Nice to see this on You Tube

  • Largely irrelevent as to your opinions on wether the war is legal or illegal. Refusing to follow orders or desertion, (being AWOL for over 30 days) constitutes a crime. His conscientios objector status would have made a difference were thier a draft, but there is none. He joined the military and swore an oath. He is responsible for the actions he has taken. If he was a man he would stand and face the music not run to Canada.

  • This boy should be allowed to stay in Canada, unless he has committed crimes while in uniform, including desertion. While there was a draft in effect during the Vietnam war and deserters could be pardoned. The current war is with an all volunteer military. There is a difference.

  • Canada how can you NOT give this decent war resister amnesty?

If you let your government continue to act against YOUR interests (the interest of peace through justice), then prepare

to become the next US province.
