  • after trying to reboot it said error: failed to get root . is your firmware too new? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

  • @BBYoungRay it may mean that you took the ota sprint recently sent out to patch a security breach. if so, I don't know if this will work. Did you in the last month or so take an update over the air?

  • On windows 7 it says "waiting for device" after i downloaded unrevocked, when I have it plugged in. Please help!

  • @4evaColts Try to disable your antivirus and close all other programs running on your computer, Make sure you have removed htc sync from you computer also.

  • didnt work!

  • Root worked on Evo 4g 2.2 but after turning off now phone won't boot from start Screen any suggestions....

  • if your phone is flash to metro and you root it will it mess up the root

  • @MrDominican424 I don't know, but I doubt it, because it doesn't mess with your software, only your esn.

  • @hehehahahohoyo it means this root method will not work for your phone, because it's too new. Go to my channel and watch the video that's in the main window "How to Root the EVO 4G on Gingerbread 2.3.3 Tutorial (Windows)" This will root your phone on Gingerbread.

  • FAILED TO PUSH RECOVERY.... i dont know what to do.. it always show that.. :S

  • to the people that upgraded to android 2.3.3 and want to root, they have to unroot back to 2.2, than they can root the phone. So far there are no rooting methods for the gingerbread!

  • I'm getting alot of questions about 2.3.3 and I don't think it will work or on mytouch, only the Htc Evo and the 2.2. Further, I don't have an Evo anymore, since I sold it to get an Evo 3d, but Now i can't afford it, so I'm not making any more videos until I get it.

  • doesnt fucking work on mytouch ... i really dont know to root this piece shit :(

  • Hey, I click on superuser permissions and it goes to a black screen? Did I do something wrong?

  • @315sxe it will be black until you give something superuser permissions and then that will be in there.

  • i love how you can hear the spongebob movie in the backround. good video overall though.

  • I watched the other video and i realized my phone is up to date with a build number of 4.22.6 something which explains why I kept receiving that error message.....Now my next question is, is there a way to get around this?

  • @Br0kevin I don't know. I don't have a phone right now.

  • @Br0kevin I bought a new Evo and it is also 4.24 software version and there is no root method yet. I will update you guys when it is released. The problem is that all the developers that worked on the Evo moved on to the Evo 3d.

  • @Br0kevin Go to my channel and watch the video that's in the main window "How to Root the EVO 4G on Gingerbread 2.3.3 Tutorial (Windows)" This will root your phone on Gingerbread.

  • man, I tried about 4 times to follow you and every time, I received an error message on unrevoked that says, "Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?" I follow you step by step and I get to the part where I debug my phone and click ok on unrevoked and without failure i keep receiving this error message.

  • Wow... without this video I was confused as hell. Follow this and it's stupid easy... thanks to all who worked on making this possible!

  • Thanks so much, super helpful.

  • will this wipe everything off my phone?

  • ONE QUICK TIP FOR EVO 4G; If you guys are paused on the Clockworkmod menu and it is not doing anything else, click the power button while scrolled on the reboot option (first option available). For some reason this seems to happen on the Evo. If you get staticy purple/green lines for a few seconds/minute after doing so there is no need to panic, I had to do this each time I rooted mine and i always got superuser and unrevoked will install successfully. I hope this helps anyone who may panic.

  • @DjKlassy That's the same thing happen to me 2 days ago, but it did work perfect.

Question tho. How do you unroot the phone.

  • @DjKlassy lol I shit my pants when i saw the lines.

  • Worked seamlessly, thanks man . . . kids weren't that bad either lol

  • WHAT You should have done was tell us what not to do first!

  • where are the drivers fo the evo?

  • My phone is just running through the loop of rebooting...

  • I ROOTED MY PHONE AND I JUST FOUND OUT THAT FOR SOME REASON MY PHONE WILL NOT GET GPS SIGNAL WHEN I USE THE NAGIVATION. PLEASE HELP!

  • @xzeen69x if you are on evo try the gps fix. download the app "MSL Reader from the market. Run it and it will provide you your msl code. write down the number (i believe it is six digits), Flash a sense based ROM (or use the stock Sense rom if that is what you are on), Open the phone keypad, Type ##GPSCLRX#, Enter your MSL at next prompt (the number you wrote down earlier), your phone will reboot in 10th seconds, Then you can boot into recovery do full wipe and flash a rom. Hope this helps

  • I didn't know what or where usb debugging was, thank you. One note, my phone didn't automatically reboot like yours after the windows application said done. So, I did have to do this manually.

  • @genebrowder if you are on the evo go to menu>settings>applications>development>usb debugging. it is important to have usb debugging on while doing this

  • does this void the warranty

  • @matthewsara84 yes however, if you have problems with the phone either with hardware or software, you can unroot it before you bring it into sprint and they will not know it was rooted.

  • crocs?

  • Thanks Man!!!

  • hey i got validation error: cid is missing. What to do now. please respond to my email. djdrewskizzy@yahoo.com

  • Man this was so simple.. Your instructions were dead on! My phone ROOTED and I'm happy as heck.

  • I run on MacOS every time i try to root it this message pops out on my phone: Sorry! the application Zysploit (process com.unrevoked.zysploit) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. and on reflash its asking me if my firmware too new... Any clue what to do?!?!?

  • Don't be sorry about the kids in the backround be sorry about those effin Crocs you're wearing.

  • i have not get the right drivers for my phone, so i can run the unrevoked reflash tools

  • Thank you!!! your video was the only one that could help me root my phone. I was able to connect my iPad 2. The only problem I encountered was an error stating the there was an interruption with the upload, but that was because my phone was set up to tethering (debugging checkmark was good) . All i did was change it to charge only & it worked flawlessly . Thanks again!!!

  • love u man. i was having problem with the USB debugging until you tell me where is the option to turn it on in the settings. i kept on selecting "HTC Sync" so that the phone can be detected by Unrevoked..but on the last moment it says communication error. So i thought i need to use the USB charge only and i didnt know how to turn the USB debugging on then.

  • can you really root this way even tho its a stock evo 2.2..????

  • nice tut brosef. am i the only one in here that likes vista? it actually isn't slow if you do a clean install and have a powerful pc. I just think it looks way better than windows 7 and WWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than xp plus if you have the ultimate edition, microsoft makes you feel like you actually got it. In 7 ultimate, it feels just like home premium. Vista ultimate has a bunch of ultimate extras like dreamscene and games and stuff

  • WHY DA #$%* WOULD YU PUT ROOT YOUR HTC EVO 2.2 IF IT ACTUALLY DOESNT WORK FOR 2.2 SMH!!!!!!!

  • Worked Perfectly for setting up tethering!!! And it was easy!!!

  • eeehhhhh a little prooblem i did everything you told me. and i checked even if i installed my drivers correctly by going to device manager and uner andriod phone it says andriod bootloader interface. however when it comes the unrevoke3 when i turn my phone into debugging and charge only option the unrevoke3 software does not identify my phone (wildfire). can any1 help?????

btw very good vid..... thx indeed

  • IF I ROOT THE EVO CAN I STILL RECIEVE OTA UPDATES?

  • i have a hard time finding my device how can i retain it?

  • This was one of, if not, the best EVO rooting videos I've see. I would add to your steps to perform a factory reset as step 1 (because of the firmware too new error) and you've got yourself a perfect manual. Thanks. This really helped me root for my first time.

  • It didn't work for me men. It says that my firmware is too new. what can I do?

    I will appreciate your help...

  • Worked great, thank you thank you thank you.

  • when i used this for my wildfire it says is your software to new ive got android 2.2

  • Unrevoke goes thru its process, but when it reboots it reboots to the standard Evo Screen and the Unrevoke screen says "Waiting for system to settle(might be a minute)..." and that's where it stays But when yours reboots it seems to go directly to the USB Hub screen with the three androids. If I reboot it myself I get a"Disconnect error try again" or if I restart in USB Hub mode Unrevoke doesn't recognize that the phone is plugged in. What am I doing wrong? The driver is installed correctly.

  • hey i did no problem thanks do u know how to get themes like iced glacier for evo

  • Dose not work. its asking for a foulder adn a file that is not there. windows refuse to give you the information. so you have to open every foulder and go thouhg every file manuly and it dose not work

  • i have a htc evo shift. will this work. ive install everything correctly to my knowledge. but when i try to run the revoked3 it just say waiting on device. i have windows xp. what am i suppose to do

  • @justin28296 This isn't going to work for the shift at this time. If you want to root your shift go to xda-developers or Android Central for instructions using VISIONary
