Thanks dude, been struggling with this problem for a long time. Damn touchpad has a hair trigger when I don't intend to use it, and won't work when I intend to use it... frustrating, but thanks for the fix.

You don't happen to know how to change the aspect ratio of the screen do you? That's another problem I have. I've tried fiddling with ALL the display settings, but it still looks squashed and I have no idea what to do!

@pandas1527 go to controll panel then to where it says appereince and personilization and click where it says change resolution

Today I got my new Dell xps 17 but the the whole touchpad didn't work. Then I licked my finger and then I can move the mouse a little bit but if I take away my finger and trie it again it doesn't work. The computer thinks the touchpad is okay so I think it may be a material missing on the touchpad or something like that. I hope someone can help me.

never mind..haha i guess the program couldn't be download with the internet browser i was using (google chrome) so i just used internet explorer and it worked. :)

when i download the program, it's not the program i'm trying to download. it's the Dell Driver Download Manager. when i click on it after it has downloaded, two boxes pop up and one of them says "There are no files to download. Please go to Drivers and Downloads to select file(s)." i don't know what to do.. :/

I tried that .. and it says that it updated .. I tried uninstalling it to reinstall and NOTHING !!!

Worked like a charm. Found the driver before seeing your video, but was not sure if the "alps" would be the proper thing to do (did not want to disable or ruin the mouse driver). After your video, took the leap and it is perfect.
