Love this song so much and your interpretation is so nice and lovely. I would feel honored if you would like to listen to my version of it. Greetings Jim
Beautifully sung, as always. I also noticed "my dead love came in" was changed, though. Without that line, it's not really very clear from the lyrics that she died and this is a ghost story being sung. There are some ominous chords, though, in the arrangement, that hint at it.
@gchadder3 Thanks George! Yes, I love the chords in this arrangement. What I'm playing here is an adapted version of the Julian Smith/John Bell arrangement of the song, simplifying the piano part (leaving out the tune) because Shirley would be playing that on the Irish flute for our collaboration. Keep well, and thanks for taking the time to comment! :)
A beautiful performance. Lovely voice, and just enough on the piano. I notice you've done the expurgated version, left out the line 'My dead love came in'. best not to scare the children.
@dutchbonnet Thanks for the lovely comment! :) Haha, yes... It wasn't really an intentional choice. The versions I've listened to have always sung the words this way in the last verse. Strange! ...but you're right, nice not to scare the children ;)
this would be something that might of came to me in years past when i worked during the mid-night hours until morning time came , when i was tired , especially if it was snowing during winter months . i'm certain i've thought about this song during those times . thank you for allowing me to re-connect with aspects of yesteryear and a much younger self , i reflect upon it fondly , thank you !!!
@abdiyaniman Thank-you so much! Glad you enjoyed it :) I actually can't claim the arrangement, because I just adapted the Julian Smith/ John Bell version... I'll put that in the description now. Thanks for the support! xx
I am looking forward to seeing the collaboration. Your part on this song was very good (or should I say "haunting" - this song is about a ghost, isn't it?).
should ever there be things that would weigh heavy upon the heart , i believe offerings of your's such as this would sooth away the ills even but for alittle while!
@PleaseDieQuietly Hahaha, I've never heard that one before! Thanks for the compliment :) I did a google images search, and I guess I can see what you're talking about... but it's funny :D
Thank you CL for yet another delightful piece with your enchanting voice. There's something sober and intimate about your videos that gets me each time. Beautiful.

It finally hit me. You are the spitting image of a younger Sigourney Weaver. I couldn't place it before, but there it is!
That, by the way, is a massive compliment! Sigourney is one of the most beautiful women I have ever laid eyes on, and you have the voice to match.
