The thing i dont like about this lift is that the log is kinda thin. The logs in the WSM competition are a lot thicker and that definitely makes it harder
@spawn039 how does a thicker log make it harder? if the HANDLES were thicker it would be harder...the log itself being thicker would actually make it easier, when its racked at your shoulders the thickness would elevate the handles a bit higher decreasing range of motion...would it not?
@speedykthx The position of the handles would be debatable and differ depending on the log and how deep the holes for the handles were cut out so the handles may not necessarily be higher. Now if you have a pretty thick log (lets say 18" in this scenario) it would be out in front of you more than a 12" or 10" log would be and so the weight would be pulling down in front of you making it harder to press. If you're pressing anything overhead you want the path and object to be as straight as can.

I tend to only see their backs bending when they are pretty exhausted. And in the case of Savickas, there isn't any leg drive or back bending lol so I think he favors thinner logs.
Savickas is definitely not fat. Most strength athletes have highly developed core muscles in order to stabilise and prevent injuries. Just because an athlete has a big waist does not mean they are fat.
Zydrunas isn't fat. What looks like a beer belly is actually a huge muscled torso that helps to protect his rib cage and lower back and it's hard as steel.
He just has way more mass than mariusz, which is why he's much better at him at brute strength, single lift events.
