Creative Danny, but instead of pleading with spam scum let's get REAL and PRACTICAL against spammers. If ALL ISP's charge EVERY outgoing email say 1/10¢ each, it's ONLY $1 for EVERY 1,000 emails you send, a real bargain, considering 95% of incoming mail is spam and the time to kill it, as well as huge time savings and cost to the whole internet community! THIS WILL BANKRUPT THE SPAMMERS, because hey rely on V O L U M E !!! Demand this of your congressman/senator, whatever!

This approach has been proposed many times over the years (discussed in my book, "Spam Wars"), but has never gained traction. First, getting ALL ISPs around the world to agree on anything would be impossible. Second, a great deal of the most annoying spam is sent directly by botnet computers, which don't use ISP outgoing email servers, and thus wouldn't be charged without major infrastructure investment. Sorry, but charging the sender is not practical. Even Bill Gates couldn't pull it off.
