185lb/83-85kg dimas could no no no olympic squat with 330kg which is only like 75lbs less than gigantosaurus rex (colman) just did in a power squat with a suit, belt and wraps not to mention he probably weighed over 300lbs in this vid.. wake up america.. the sport is called olympic style weightlifting
@alin1975 not only that the suits and wraps and belts back then are othing compared to todays gear. and we didnt have those fancy squat forklift things a guy had to prove he could handle the weight before he was given the squat signal.
@alin1975 not only that the suits and wraps and belts back then are nothing compared to todays gear. and we didnt have those fancy squat forklift things a guy had to prove he could handle the weight before he was given the squat signal.
1st thing THATS ONE CRAZY FUCKER STEVE GOGGINS SQUATING LIKE THAT I'D SHIT MY PANTS WATCHING THAT.
2nd the most impressive lifter EVER is pirros, 213kg is about 470-480 pds and hes only weighed around 187 when he did that, thats almost triple his body weight for a clean and jerk fucking sick!
SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT steve goggins went low, that was cash, way more than mike miller was worth, and ronnie coleman could do the same if he wanted to
JJ can say how he's the strongest body builder in the world all he wants, but look at Ronnie's stance for that 800lbs squat (2 reps so that's like 90% of his 1RM). If he actually started using a power lifting stance I'm sure he could add another 100lbs. There is no doubt he could have squated 1,000lbs back in the day.
In the WPO, you only need your hamstring to hit parallel, no where near the old school USPF and IPF rules, that a lifter's thigh must break parallel, what that means if you make an imaginary line starting at the knee and go straigh back to where the lifters hips are, when the hip socket goes below the line its legal depth. You want to see a classic old time real squat, look at Bill Kazmaier squatting, that is a textbook squat.
That's a heavy front squat, and lift the same weight above the head for all the superheavy benchers and back squatters to do their homework. Now that's overall strength and power,
Yeah, that's the reason why most people don't give a f**k about the IPA and WPC/WPO. For me the world record is Shane Hammans 1008 pound squat at the IPF.
wtf that isnt a real squat. how can you call a dip a squat. im not saying he isnt strong or that i am. i just have always thought of a squat as full to the ground or at least parallel
he does a combination of a squat jerk and a push jerk. look up his 2000 c&j, he starts out at a push jerk then to a squat jerk. he drops down fast in the jerk, truly the greatest.

Holy Crow, Hatfields squat is impressive because he bounces at the bottom, despite knee wraps. That's 1000 lbs with acceleration!
