This sort of thing never happens before but back then I remember seeing the refs throw a flag if the home crowd was so loud the opposing team could not hear the snap count. That was the only way to get the crowd to simmer down.

Dolphins had one of the best QB's in the history of the game and squandered his talents by not adding a sufficient running game. Marino's talents were wasted with the Dolphins. Let's not forget even if they had their starting QB, chances are the Bears would have injured Pennington and Henne. It's not the Bears fault the Dolphins like soft QB's.

Henne and Pennington didn't play because they are too soft. Compared to those 2 Cutler was hit more and for the first time with the Bears he missed one game and came back after that week. Cutler has taken more tougher hits than Henne and Pennington combined and he still gets up to play.

It was a Dolphins-Eagles Thu night game in 1980 or 81 in which Ron Jaworski couldn't hear the snap count and kept asking the ref for help. The ref finally told him to call the play and he threw a pick. That led to the NFL briefly deciding to penalize teams for crowd noise.

The Dolphins lost the competitive edge when they moved out of the Orange Bowl. Go to a Dolphin game these days and its like a funeral. Another thing is that they have priced the real fan, the common man, out of the ball park. All you have at the game is CEO's, celebrities and high class people who are on their cell phones all game.

Fuller wasn't even making an attempt to call signals. He barely made an attempt to move his lips. I loved this Dolphins' win. Greatest Monday Night Football game ever. I remember it like it was yesterday. Only Marino, with his quick release and laser arm, was capable and suited to beat the Bears vaunted defense in 1985.

@dolphinbuc I think they were looking ahead to the Super Bowl--the Bears had already clinched against the Rams, and the Dolphins had just beaten the Patriots at the Orange Bowl toward the end of the regular season. Everybody in America wanted to see a Dolphins/Bears rematch in the Superdome--including me!

this was the wake up call the bears needed in 85.. after tis they turned it up another notch.. the bears outscored there opponents in the playoffs and superbowl 91-10.. The Dolphins ended up losing to the Patriots in the AFC championship, a team which the Bears destroyed 46-10.. The Dolphins would not have done any better

The single best dolphins video I have ever seen!! Those we're the good ol' days and I have a feeling the cycle is on its way back up. Wish we still had a real football stadium, one that actually amplified crowd noise instead of a design that works against it... "and throwing a flag on the crowd, paying customers of entertainment, is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!" goes against everything football is supposed to be about, including Home Field Advantage. This sort of thing never happens before but back then I remember seeing the refs throw a flag if the home crowd was so loud the opposing team could not hear the snap count. That was the only way to get the crowd to simmer down.

Living in California my entire life and being a FinFan, I could only watch the Orange Bowl crowd on TV.. My dream has always been to attend a home game at the Orange Bowl.. Then then went and built Joe Robbie Stadium...
I was lucky enough to attend one home game in 2002, but it surely was nothing like what the Orange Bowl would have been..
