  • A plasma screen TV is a complex device. To believe that with no previous training in assembling and/or repairing such a device that you can repair one that is broken is sheer folly.

You may get lucky and see a disconnected ribbon or loose cable, or even a leaking/burned out Cap.

  • actually i was lol'ing at the fact you think these are stuck pixels........ you should read up on them a bit i think :p. LED tv's are just LCD tvs with led backlighting instead of cc lights. Plasma is in every single way superior to LCD/LED in every environment other than very bright rooms.

  • @fuxx81

Actually there are 2 types of LED TVs. LED Backlight TVs and true LED TVs. The latter actually have sub-milimeter sized LED's in an array, each with 3 diodes in it (red green and blue). Yes such TV's do exist.

  • @BankaiIchigo12345 hah! For stadiums and the such... hardly relevent. Show me a link where someone may buy one for their living room.

  • @fuxx81

No, I'm talking LED TVs that use LED-triads where a single triad (consisting of 1red 1green and 1blue led) is less than 1mm (and each actual color led is only a tiny fraction of that). In other words it is a TRUE LED where the pixels are NOT large like on stadium LED displays, but are instead the same size as on LCD TVs. There are INDEED such LED TVs that are true LED TVs (NOT LED backlit LCDs) that are available for purchase. They are called LED TV. Backlit ones are called LED Backlit.

  • @fuxx81 Just go down to Costco and look at the TVs. There are "plasma" TVs, "LCD" TVs (use fluorescent tube backlights), "LED backlight" and "LED backlit LCD" TVs (LCD TVs with LED backlights), and there ALSO are ones called "LED TVs" which as their name implies they DO USE LEDs for their pixels.

  • @BankaiIchigo12345 Sorry but this is simply not true, you are clearly getting confused with full array backlit led tv's..... you cannot buy a TRUE led tv at the moment.... they would have to consist of over 2 million tri colour led's.

    prove me wrong!

  • @fuxx81 @Bankailchigo12345 The puny Sony XEL1 is the only commercially sold LED TV so far. Fantastic value at 2500 USD for an 11 inch display!

Imagine what a decent sized TV would cost at that rate...

  • @rdcL haha yeah, exactly! OLED took a massive dive anyway. To be honest even if bankailchigo12345 were talking about OLED he would still be misinformed as they are still technically lit by a cathode.

  • @fuxx81 A dive straight into half the phones that came out the past two years :)

Not to say he didn't get fooled by costco, but the bit about cathodes makes little sense. OLEDs aren't lit, they light up, they're LEDs. They have cathodes and anodes, and they make light. So do CCFLs or ordinary LEDs behind LCD screens, and every cell in a plasma screen, and CRT electron guns, etcetera.

If you don't want cathodes, you're pretty much stuck with projectors/RPTVs.

  • @fuxx81

I know, they suck! LED TV are the way to go, no pixels, not fragile light blocks!

  • I know what might be the problem, the circuit boards on the back, may be scratched or broken. Those boards display all of the information, so you can only fix it by changing the circuits.

  • @BreakingGBK

Plasma is also cool, but is more easily damaged.

  • Those might be stuck pixels, just like an LCD, but I know this si not an LCD.

Try hooking it up to a computer and look for a stuck pixel fixer, or press on them to let the pixels mix with the rest of the original colors. But don't prees too hard, stuck pixels are just light, it's easy to get it out.

  • Is you plasma still broken ?

  • its not an LCD.

  • If you put a non-moving image to the TV (through RCA inputs or menus or something), does it still crawl around? If it does crawl, then bad LVDS cable, or a bad logic board. If it does not crawl, bad y boards.

  • leaky capacitor on one of the video boards. 2 dollar part that requires expensive expertise to diagnose. Or you could go the easy way out and replace the entire board y board, which only has one bad part on it, while the rest of the board will be fine. The boards cost from $50 to $300 for a DIYer.

  • Not sure but from other videos I would have to say the "Y" board.

  • its a capacitor take the back off and look for any capacitors raised at the top.

  • Vedio card has been damged

  • Your lamp is burning out thats why,

Don't worry i have my plasma tv for 4 years now an it happen to me once not that long ago. so if you have a Warranty that is in use right now. Call the place where u got ur tv at. If u don't have it, ur probably S.O.L cuz thats the only thing u can get it fix. unless u know how to fix tvs but u need somebody that is professional

  • @icuprere Plasma TVs don't have lamps...more than likely a sus board issue, probably cheaper to buy a new one unless you repair it yourself.

  • @moomoo1337 hes trying to know what wrong with it specificly you fucking cocksucker

  • my plasa=ma is doing the same thing did u find out what is wrong if so tell me

  • if you have anything wireless near it that may be the cause of the problem

  • Check your PSU voltages especially your VCC. And replace your ABUSR and ABUSL. This is what occurs when those are disconnected or broken or have no voltage or low voltage.

  • replase the lcd or plasma control board on these flats screens out here and all of yall will be ok if it has a problem like this

  • i just got this same shyt happen to my 50 inch ... you ever figure out what the problem was before i call a service tech out

  • how can you fix that? that's what happened to my brother's tv, but he didn't put anything on it nor did he pour water on it...

  • maybe one of the transformers has a short in it.

  • this is what happens when water comes in

  • If it is broken then you need a new X and Y board.

  • Probound88

Thats a totally retarded comment, it also shows that you don't drive, a car isn't made to break, its a mechanical item that wears down parts with physical use, which then need replaced, its basic science and an unavoidable part of car ownership

  • how much would it cost to fix the screen?

  • replace your capacitors, it should work fine...

  • check out the great youtube debate on plasma vs lcd, they have a life span of 50-100,000 hours thats around 25 years in real terms.

but its all a bunch of crap they dont last long at all... average lifespan is 5-7 years

  • control board

  • @toddwhat

Controller board is right m8.Had another with the same fault recently

  • looks like ur power capacitors are bad........

  • Doesn't matter if he paid for a Panasonic or Samsung, etc.

I had a Sony Bravia lcd that frucked on me after 14 months. It now attracts dust very nicely. I wanna kick it hard!

If you buy a flat panel, get the extended warranty. Something that I REALLY regretted not taking, I thought it'd last a lifetime...

Or buy it at Costco, they'll give you 2 year warranty. It seems that most flat panel problems that I read in forums happen in the first 24 months, so it should cover you...

  • Either the panel driver board or mainboard is FUBAR or there's a bad connection between the boards, Either way, something is corrupting the data before it gets to the actually plasma display panel.

  • ck the z sustain signal

  • Its your vertical or horizantal IC circuit, cheaper to buy a new TV. They don't make em like they used to.

  • both Matrix channels have lost point address... What I mean is Its like being told to go 10 blocks away and leave a blob of paint on the side walk (pavement), but instead leave a trail of paint from start to the dessert!), It's basically lost interest in being alive. (Firmware chip's had enough of the heat) Get a projector, much more entertaining!

  • thats a bad ZBuffer. Big board on the right if you open the back. Or, its a stuck Y buffer, buttom board...ie why its moving slightly back and fourth in quadrants

  • You can not replace the the gas in a plasma !!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • It may be a problem with the YDRV boards... So it can be fixed, but then you have to buy a new YDRV board... That's it... ^^,

  • Hope it is already fixed. I think the YDRV boards are defective based on the symptom. These boards are directly connected between the panel and the YSUS board.

  • Im not sure what the problem would actually be, but one of the boards in the TV may be absolutely stuffed. I know that some plasma's have a problem where you get coloured dots all over the screen, like '100s and 1000s', and usually a replacement board will fix it. I have never actually seen anything this bad.

  • It Looks Like Your Tv Has a defective Scan drive Buffer IC or defective Scan Drive Borad (Usually called "Y Drive" ) It has nothing to do with the screen itself, get it to an electronics repair shop, they can fix it. I work in one myself btw.

  • Could be the Z sus or Y board. Possibly the controller board. Without opening it up and testing it you'd never really know. Replacing the board is a waste of money. Especially if its a few 75 cent components from radioshack. Have fun smashing it, or sell it to me for $100

  • Your tv has a KITT scanner :D

  • main board IC chip...replace both

  • The cheap/consumer plasma TVs w/o fans run hot so they will have the usual heat related issues. This includes bad caps/solder joints in the power supply, lines in the display and other weird issues like this one. The strange side scrolling might be due to a bad controller IC that has developed bad ball grid solder joints (like the recent xbox360 recall).

  • Well, it clearly isn't the actual panel. Which wouldn't suprise me, it's prolly a samsung panel. However the electronics, that's all daewoo, that's prolly the cause. If you really want to fix it, I'd find the same model on ebay, but with a broken or burned screen and swap out the electronics. Although I'd warn you that this is no small job at all. I would also advise not to buy daewoo ever again lol.

  • Plasma's also have a better contrast ratio, faster update speeds and more vibrant colours. My pioneer plasma has lasted 2 years so far and still absolutely kicks the arse off any lcd and pretty much any other plasma aswell, except for pioneer's new generation. I guess that's why pioneer are dubbed the king of the plasma's.

  • you want to know why it did that cause plasma heats up too much and it burned out....thats why i prefer LCD cause they last longer and are cheaper then plasmas

  • Looks like you have a bad connections on the power supply probably around the B+ caps .

  • I picked up a 1983 RCA XL-100 TV set for $3.00 a few years ago at the thrift store. It's lasted 25 years, and will most likely last another 25, if not more. I suggest you do the same. Older TVs are built to last. Whereas today, most electronics are specifically designed to break down after the warranty expires, so you have to go and buy a new one. It's all a big moneymaking scheme. That is why I only buy vintage electronics. Anything made after 1990 is pure, worthless garbage.

  • there is what the call the plasma controller board it mgiht be bad and there is also lil tiny flaot like thing that ruyns across the tv that mgiht be bad also or the tv might just be out of plasma call plasma repair man and tell them you think plasma needs refilling

  • damn, that's like video art.

  • That look like its probably a fault with the integrated circuit board. This might of been caused by a power surge. If this is the case, which i think it is, its ruined.

  • My tv was doing the same thing yesterday.

I just switched it off for 10 seconds and back on again and it was fine

  • i have a plasma LCD and a DLP screen. the dlp is a terrible picture even connected to SkyHD. plasma is a better choice for movies and sports, more realistic. lcd isnt bad but is good for games.
