Saw Linda at the little piece of shit Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, California (circa; 1971), which was within eyesight of the H.B. pier, belting out this song in a place that couldn't have had more than a 100 seats & sawdust on the floor. Ended up seeing her 7 times in concert between then and the end of 1977.
tbh it was a weird coincidence i found Linda Ronstadt. I was watching a documentary about the Johnny Cash show (big fan of Johnny Cash) and she was on it, i looked at all the female performances in the whole show, their were only 3, and i eventually found her and played her version of 'I never will marry', loved it and found some other songs.
Im 15, i seriously dont get how people can like modern music, you dont need a good voice, just looks, justin bieber being a good example, people like Bob Dylan and Donovan know days would get knowhere. Shame musics died out a bit over the ages
@catman916 You are so right, since searching through the music on Youtube from my 'younger days', I have found some absolute jewels, not least of which is this song, long may you reign!
@catman916 Hi, at 0.53 the photo of Linda holding the mic & stand with the tamborine looking like its floating in mid-air, is that the famous moment where she got angry at a photographer and threw her tamborine at him? One month after that incident at a NJ concert I ran up an aisle and snapped off a telephoto picture of Linda knowing it might piss her off. Nothing happened except having a stage bouncer dragging me off.
@BiddaBiddaCherryPie I dont call eminem, drake young money modern music I dont really know what those people think they are singing all inappropriate lyrics doesnt make any sens I love old music so much it is real and came from the heart sometimes I feel that a song is telling just my feelings..you are in the right musical path..
@BiddaBiddaCherryPie At 15 your wiser beyond your years. There was a wealth of talent and innovation back then. The lead guitarist on this song and many of Ronstadt's songs was Clarence White. He was an extremely talented inventive guitarist. His talent was in bluegrass, yet became the Byrds lead guitarist until they ended. He invented the B-bender device built into his Fender so he could play a steel pedal twang sound. Died in '73, hit by a drunk driver while loading his car after a show.
I know she dated Jerry Brown - big deal. How does that "taint" her? Ridiculous.

She was forever tainted by shacking up with Governor Jerry Brown. She liked men with power and money.

There is a wealth of great music out there. All you need to do is look for it, as you have done.

I suppose that she was not satisfied with this version and therefore, recorded it again. I think that this version is quite good.
