-Why the irritating 'monkey-musik' audio-track, -many people quit watching soon as that crap begins; --just learn to furnish a technical talk of it's features, or the sound of it running, ---pleeezzzzzeee...!!!
German Engineering? Citroen circa 57 had its DS with a trapezoidal frame - narrow at the end - fiber glass roof, front wheel drive, hydro-pneumatic suspension, one bundle steering wheel, replaceable sleeved engine, movable headlights, etc...German Engineering?? It barely gives you 45 miles hour on downhill!! Selling them ONLY in China? Keep it there, bitte! Wir brauchen die Schieze nicht! Danke!
VW stated that production cost would be around $40,000 at this moment, therefore not being market viable. It will not go into production for at least 3 years. The model shown here is the 2002 one. Besides the fuel consumption (which is indeed that low), pretty much every piece of information in this clip is false.
If Mercedes refuse to introduce their Smart ForTwo Cdi diesel into the states because there is not sufficient demand for them then the chance of this Vw1L arriving is small indeed.
I drive a Smart CDi and the Uk waited 10yrs for Mercedes to officially sell them in the Uk.
A Frenchman told me that the Concorde appeared even more beautiful to him when he heard they lost money with it, and we Germans make beautiful things, too. But...this car is very beautiful, and it consumes relatively littel gas in extreme contradt to the Concorde, but this car never got into mass production :o(. Some years ago, there was no youtube-video of this car at all!!!! We need this car, not a Bugatti Veyron or a Concorde, both needed to be subsidised!!!
it isn't single seated, there are 2 seats; one behind the other... it isn't better than an electric car since it still uses fossile-fuel and also there's an aptera 2e with ~300mpg... another point; it would've been 35'000€ if they built it in mass-production when they developed it and they thought they can build it for a very cheap 5000€ in 2012, when the value of carbon-fibre and other material falls like they expect... but there's already a new concept...
@truegwbfan what's your problem?! an electric car is powered by electricity (of course...) which in our country comes to almost 70% from water-turbines. there's no coal or anything like that at all...
@purpleGoAhead HAH. In certain countries like Ireland we have lots of coal, Gas and peat. Next to no hydroelectric. Thanks for being wrong though. Even our best CCGT struggle to get 45% effeciency

Remember the rather costly VW Lupo 3L Tdi which still holds the World record for fuel consumption at around 116mpg.
This 1L did achieve around 280mpg in testing and the Loremo concept car which may be put into production manages araond 170mpg.
VW would never claim this vehicle could use 1L of fuel per 100Km unless it had done it in testing.

You may have a very long wait indeed.

if it ever gets here assume at least $6,000 pricetag, more likely $15,000 because they will be on backorder from the start

This IS the 2002 VW concept car that you can see in other Youtube videos.

This doesn't pass the smell test - $600 dollars for such an advanced car? No way! I would guess the gas mileage is inflated as well.
