sorry if it's a dumb question but i think it's not totally lost position for black. after the critical knight move to g6 black queen should come to b4 with an immediate mate threat. of course white rook captures and checks, black king goes to h7. and then white has to move his 1st rank rook. after he moved it black king captures the knight and i think queen vs 2 rooks is not a lost game already. quuen can always threat 1st rank rook for a back door mate and captures a pawn meanwhile.
Thank you. I intend to keep posting, but due to work and family, it is never as frequent as I would like. Calculation is hard, but the more you work on it, the easier it gets. A lot of club players buy a ton of chess books, but neglect to put in the effort to improve their own calculation skills over the board in any measurable way. If you do a lot of calculation training and keep notes of variations you saw, it will do wonders for your game. Thanks again.
i really love your videos and i appreciate the effort on your part, but it will help a lot,if you post a link here for a snapshot of the position in another video with regular chess pieces, this one looks like more of a utensil set...with pressure cookers, teapots, cooking pans,etc....too hard to concentrate :(
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. If you keep working on your calculation abilities, it is without doubt the fastest road to improvement.
I am glad you enjoyed the video. The simple rule in tactical exercises is to consider each check, capture, and threat. As you get deeper into the position, it gets more and more difficult, but there's no reason we can't see all the checks and captures in the starting position. Just go through all your pieces (and pawns!). Most of the time the forcing moves don't achieve anything in the position, but once you are in the habit of looking, you'll find all sorts of strange tactics! Thanks Joe.
Ha Ha Ha. That's too funny. I wasn't too sure either. I love the knights, but the bishops are too skinny and the kings and queens are weird. I switched to recording on my mac which is way better for recording, but the chess software itself is not as advanced. I'll try to find a better piece set for the next video. Thanks for watching pete.
Thanks for the generous comments, Russ. My original intention was to post about once a week when I started doing this, but with a job and family, it never seems to work out that way! Thanks for watching.

I learnt that you SHOULD NOT read the comments before you try to solve it.
I read the comments and i saw a guy talking about Qxc8 and the excercise was ruined!

I found something else: : 1.Nc6 Qd6 2. Ne7+ Qxe7
3. Qxf5 winning the exchange 3... exf5 4. Rxe7
seems to be winning too.

I never saw this idea until you mentioned it. Yes, it appears to be another decisive way to win. Thanks for sharing your analysis! I appreciate it.
