Scrivalicious you are right on target. You should see/hear them live! They are unbelievable live!! Check out their new “Chopped and Screwed” orchestral stuff. Mind blowing! Micachu & the Shapes are the best! –Eric Chicago
The I-just-threw-on-whatever-and-showed-up-because-I'm-so-hip-and-past-it-all attitude is reeeally getting old. What she's doing musically is interesting, but sounds like a work in progress, or someone who has nothing to say.
Why is appearance relevant? Oh wait I forgot the world is full of morons absolutely infatuated and obsessed with it. Pity you're not capable of being a more open minded person.
If you could read for meaning you would gather that I was commenting on the 'tude not the threads, but you're right, in a live performance, appearance and musical quality do not count. And the performer acting like a they're annoyed at being asked to perform doesn't count, either. And, you're correct, anyone who doesn't like what you like is close-minded.
Well played, both of you. Really though, it's art, and who cares what 'tude you pick up. In all fairness, it's most likely your own projection. In the end, this chick's just playing some weird guitar. I kind of dig it.
@ChaosOrdeal nah its just that this is what she's worn on about all of her album covers and television appearances. she's got a lot of musical work out for such a young age and the stuff that she does that has post production is pretty compositionally sound, but i think you're more turned off by her appearance and out of tune guitar so i understand where you're coming from. first impressions count for a lot.
For whatever it's worth, here are my two college-music-professor cents:
This is the most wonderful and exciting thing I've seen come out of the pop scene in a long time. I absolutely love it. My only wish is that it helps the masses to start redefining their idea of good pop music. Unfortunately it probably won't... oh well. The battle goes on.
If my first semester at music college has taught me anything, it's that music professors salivate over anything that sounds as little like actual music as possible. Random noise = wonderful and exciting.
I love Micachu on record. Live, well, let's just say I'm... undecided.
saw this artist in björk's channel, and i really like it! too sad i have to browse internet for awesome new experimental music, there's too much crap in that stupid box
Who is that ARSEHOLE who's 'directing' her and taking phone calls. She seems like a really nice lady - but even she looks like she's losing her patience. I'd wrap that guitar round his head if I were her.
i think on the album they're... im wearing my expressionless face bought lots of things to replace you i fill every possible space do anything to contain you and i put things all over the floor if i stand on my bed, i can see it all and i put your things all over the floor if i jump off my bed, i can smash it all i think ive made a massive mistake ill put you away and exchange you my feelings are slightly misshaped do anything oh yeah

Really admirable the way Mica is brave enough to strip herself down to the basics. A true artist.

HAHAHA! I definitely know where you're coming from. The only hole in your statement is the term "actual music." Once you can define that, we'll talk.
