Gritty and passionate voice that was made for musical seduction. Listening to The Veils puts me in a trance-like state that I don't like snapping out of. The lyrics are always very well selected and perfectly placed. Beautiful.

No chance. I think it's more likely to be inspired by the play "Berenice" written by Jean Baptiste Racine. The whole play (Like Racine's theology) surrounds predestination. It's a story about Emperor Titus realising that his relationship with Berenice (Queen of Judea) cannot last as no emperor can hold such a title and have a foreign bride, it's a crime that's not worth dying for. This makes a hella lot more sense than Edgar Allen Poe's "Berenice"
