I try to do this to my dell streak (white). I already have 1.6 come with the phone. do I need to down grade to 1.5.3? I got time out error. Please advise??? Do I need to use that DJsteve rom?
@jpp8888 Using DJ Steve's rom is (in my opinion) your best option. You do not necessarily need to downgrade. The reason why you got a time out error is most likely because you do not have the drivers correctly installed. Try starting over on another computer, doing that helped me.

@colton226 This tool is specific to Android 2.2. But if you use the recovery method, I'm (not 100%) but pretty sure that it will "recover" your device to any update.pkg you have on /root of your sd card.

Did you check to see auto rotate and the video recorder works? Seems like there were some issues, but may be resolved by now. Thanks for posting this -- about to try it.
@turkeybuttsammich Yes, the auto rotate and the video recorder work perfectly, if not the 720p recording is a bit laggy if you're moving around rapidly. There is also a major issue that I'm experience where the lock screen is unresponsive if there are many applications running into the background and then you put it into sleep mode with the power button. I end up having to reboot the system.
This is the same tool I used love this streak with 2.2 on it.... I don't use Dell stage I prefer launcher pro... And I like the SlideIT keyboard from the market instead of what they give you. works good for typing in landscape.....

i cant install my drivers it says Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for you device:
windows found the software for you device but encountered an error while attempting to install it: Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002
driver is not intended for this platform
please help how should i get past this and have the driver install correctly

What happens if you received:
ERROR[D2]: wait ADB fastboot mode timeout!
Please check that device is exist and driver is properly installed.
