Have you already fixed this problem>? Because I'm also experiencing the same thing... At first, it was perfect, but a couple of days later it started doing that too... I think it has something to do with the new updates... So I'm thinking of restarting the computer back or use system restore... If you already solved this problem, I would like to know what you did! If explosions aren't appearing update your graphics drivers. It sounds like a canned response, I know, but it works. It's not overheating or anything, it's just because Massive used new code for the explosion effects old drivers don't understand.
Keywords are "release version"; if you had kept up with Vista for any considerable amount of time, you would know most of the kinks have been sorted out by SP1.
That, and XP can't use DX10 or 4GB RAM; or Dual Cores; or any of the G8 series of Nvidia cards.
Ok so here's the big one, Windows Vista! I'm still running Windows XP. Microsoft them selves have admited that Vista was a big mess up, it's release version had so many bugs and scripting errors it's not funny. There franticly releasing updates to fix these problems but I personally am not going to swich to Vista for quite some time now.
Make sure you post some more detailed computer specs and let me know what video settings you have the game on, and I'll be happy to help you out further.
Before then I had always used my computers default sound system, and it had never been a problem. I dont suggest you go out and buy a new Sound Card just yet, because chances are your most likely just going to be wasting money.
One thing I can suggest is try playing the game on the lowest video settings possible and see if the error still occurs, or if it takes longer to. This will rule out if the problem is your pushing your system to hard.

Firstly, how much play time are you getting before the error starts, from the time you went into the game to the time the error occured I assume not alot, does it vary or is it usually that amount of play time?

Depends what video card ya got. There is another update 1.01 i believe. Get a new video card. Like nvidia geforce 6/7/8/9/x200 series

same problem, ive a ATI HD 4850, gpu temperature: max. 85°C
it isn't the graphics card cause crysis works otn it. CPU: core 2 quad Q6600

From what I've heard this game is going to be running your video card and computer to the max!
What video settings are you running the game on, I've read that you can play the game on DirectX.10 or DirectX.9.
Until I really know more about the error and what video settings your using it's kind of hard to know what's going on.
