@SamyouALjaxon Actually not really, Seal Team 6 (DEVGRU) is an American tier one special forces unit. The American equivalent of SAS is the Delta Force. Seal team 6 i would say is better then SAS in overall operations like air, water however SAS is definitely better for ground operations since it has a lot more experience and is primarily focused on that. I personally like JTF2 the most but thats because i am bias in that i am canadian. All i can say SAS, DELTA, AND JTF2 are all amazing!!

@zachzort Not sure wether what your saying is right or wrong but none the less The SAS and Delta Force are trained extremely well and their training is YEARS longer than regular armed forces especially the army that gets around 10 years of training. so what i'am saying is Delta is the American SAS same strength after all they do do joint ops.

Maybe we should agree to one fact: SAS, Delta Force, Navy SEALS, etc. are pretty darn good soldiers and none of us would ever make it through their selection process!! And btw: Who cares who is better (besides the fact that they are all elite and there is nothing better than elite) as long as SAS, DF, SEALS, etc. work as allies?? They work TOGETHER(!!) in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. We should be glad that those men fight FOR us and not against us!!

As 4 the SAS & Osama Bin Laden, I think you're talking about the Battle of Tora Bora (Operation Jawbreaker) which occurred Dec. 2001. FYI, the SEALS especially Team Six "experts at snatch & abduction" played a key role in the failed operation. Other forces included CIA SAD, Delta Force, British SBS, NZ-SAS, German KSK, Green Berets, 5th Special Forces Group, USMC(snipers), 160th SOAR, JTF-2, Northern Alliance

One is that during the initial stage of the operation, al-Qaeda negotiated a truce with the local Afghan militia, claiming they needed time to liquidate their weapons. This was pure boooolshit of course, This gave al-Qaeda (Osama bin Laden) the extra time to escape into hiding.These places were so difficult to find and penetrate.They eventually crossed the border into Pakistan where they were basically undetectable.

@firemanladder12 Although MANY elite special operations forces from around the world "pitched in" during the Battle of Tora Bora, Osama bin Laden could well have been captured had the U.S. Central Command committed MANY MORE U.S. troops in the area as requested by the C.I.A. It was just "Too little, too late". I did A LOT of googling to get all this info. But then again I have no life.

But be careful, you might get in trouble with your Commanding Officers for believing so. You should read some of the dozens of SAS books available. Their military missions and post SAS adventures are INCREDIBLE!!! Mount Everest, Sahara Desert, Atlantic Ocean, Antarctica etc.

The 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D) — commonly known as Delta in the U.S. Army, Delta Force by civilians, and Combat Applications Group by the Department of Defense, conducts their own assestment and selection currently.
