ok so im a guy and in college and i have some guy friends that knit and my girlfriend just started using her knitting stuff it looks really interesting. but being a guy where i live it would be considered "gay" for me to knit. what is your opinion on this matter?
@camodudestrikesagain Did you know back in the times of war (World War 1 and World War 2) that wounded soldiers who were too injured to return to service would knit socks for those who were over seas? Also men knit clothing for men because they knew what men wanted. Of course today it is rare, but I would have to say that no any guy who knits would not seem gay to me. I can tell a man is gay by his mannerisms (if they are very obvious) anyway who cares? What should matter is that you enjoy it.
@camodudestrikesagain Remember that knitting is sexy! Your guy friends and your girlfriend are already knitting. Pay no attention to the nay-sayers or those who may cast you in a different light because of it. It's a craft that many men do actually. Check out Brooklyn Tweed dot com. It's a well known knitting company started by a guy who knits. Your family and friends love you and those are the only opinions that should hold weight.
@camodudestrikesagain The more things that you learn to do with your hands the better the women will like you and besides it is a neat thing for you to know since your girlfriend is doing it...the two of you can hang out and knit together. Make something for yourself such as a nice soft scarf and then try a hat and remember that knitting and crocheting is relaxing. Check out Drew Emborsky on knitandcrochetnow(dot)com/fly.aspx?layout=content&taxid=97 he is this awesome crochet guy.
I had to watch the video twice before I could figure out that your knit stitch looks like you are purling. I kept thinking that you were just saying it wrong, calling the purl stitch the knit stitch. After watching it for a second time in full screen I saw that you were knitting and not purling! Very Interesting! I love to see the different ways people hold their yarn but I have never seen a knit stitch done this way before. You did a very good job of explaining that pattern though, thanks.
Thanks for the how-to-do! I have been knitting for about 5 years, and what I thought was the k2tog has actually been a ssk (shows how much I follow patterns) I am using this to knit my mother a shawl of my own handspun. We'll see how it works!
@qtktpi Here is a link to my post entry of the hat on my blog and there's also a link to the actual pattern within the post. Let me know how it turns out.
@rodymonet Thank you so much for the encouragement. I love sharing knitting tips and tricks. For this pattern I cast on a multiple of 7 stitches for the gull lace pattern. For the actual rim of the hat, I regrettable do not remember how much I casted on for the actual hat, but it know for a fact it wasn't 126 as the original pattern call for.
focus isn't great but I can still follow what you're doing. Thank you for doing it slow and explaining every step like you do. Right down to telling us what those codes mean!
I'm just a little confused after watching this. I've been knitting for a short while now, and it looks like you're going in a different way than I do to do the knit stitch.
Do you hold the yarn in your left hand or your right? It all depends, there are various ways to knit. I will work on a video explaining some of these in the near future. Stay tuned!
I know how to knit continental and english, with the yarn in the respective places; either way, I'm sure it doesn't matter. Your projects turn out wonderfully, and mine turn out looking fine as well, so we're probably both right.
Thanks for the pretty pattern, it's very simple to knit. But after a few rows, I find that the stitches become fewer. I thought of kniting gull lace for my sweater bottom (maybe 20 or so rows). Does that mean I have to increase stitches when I stop gull lace to knit normal stitches?
You are more than welcome. The gull lace pattern is always 7 stitches per set because you are decreasing and then replacing it with increases. So you should always start and end with 7 stitches. When you are finish with the gull lace portion, you knit as you normally work for the remainder of your pattern. I would start off with a stitch # that is a multiple of seven for the sweater bottom. I hope this help. Feel free to contact me for any further guidance.
what yarn did u use 4 this beret?

@l1fe4kelly I used Red Heart Solid Yarn in Teal!

How would you decrease to form the crown? Wonderful video, thank you so much!
RandomnessISJoy 3 months ago
@RandomnessISJoy For this particular pattern, the crown was done in purl stitches and the gull lace is only for the body of the beret.
Thank you for watching and supporting!

Hi, I love your videos.. KEEP UP the GREAT WORK. It is so nice to be able to follow someone who is willing to share their knowledge:)
How many cast-on's should I have? Should it be even or odd number? I wanted to do this lace for a scarf.

I noticed that too, she seems to knit in the front for some reason, I though thats where you did a purl.
She might not be doing continental knitting, and I don't know the others.
