  • 0:31 what does this sign mean?

  • The world is quiet here.

@Spectic Well at least he warned you.

  • Look behind you, Snicket!

  • I don't get it, people are constantly warned not to read the books, and yet it's such a popular series. Mr. Snicket must be ashamed that he failed to keep this series in utter obscurity.

  • @Spectic for some reason i think the warning against it was reverse psychology. I mean, whenever I see the words "dont read this terrible book" in this series I find myself unable to not read the page afterwards.

  • I saw Lemony Snicket's face!

  • ha ha i like the part when they say scream and run run run run or die die die die! Im going to sing that to my sister!!

  • A Series of Unfortunate Events is the most amazing series I've ever read. The humor in the narration softens the blows of a story of tragedy and mystery. You're left wondering about everything and everyone involved, even the narrator of the story, who seems to have a story of his own that ties into the one he is telling. This video, as well as the song, expresses the dark strangeness of the series.

  • 11 persons are his accomplices

  • "Disgust and Dispair and Dismay"

    @ 0:33

I thought "Dispair' was spelt 'dEspair'

    ?

  • @WingDaisy I though it was spelled d' espaire but we all have our shortcomings right?

  • @Maarttttt yeah, ''despair'', according to the dictionary

  • @92NordicQueen Ri Li?

  • FUCK! I forgot what V.F.D stood for.

  • @uglydollsinc123 Voluntary Fire Department, I think.

  • @ih8mello oh yaaa thanks

  • How does this only have 100,000 views?

  • thesnicketfile.tumblr.com/

  • this series is amazing i love it y dont they ever continue it :(

  • @JadeEmbodient You know, we are getting a new book series by Mr. Snicket, and it might be about the Baudelaires.

    AmDrag

  • After 3 years of reading the series i'm still tripping on one of the books...i don't remember which one but there was a chapter where a random man pulls up and asks them to get in the cab and lemony goes on about taking "chances" and "fate" and all that...then he tells you that the man had someone tied up in the trunk O.o

  • @Marco1U If you're talking about the taxicab driver in The Penultimate Peril after the Baudelaires accidentally commit murder, the driver was actually Lemony Snicket himself (as far as I figured).

  • im so confused!! cos kit snicket's baby is also named "beatrice"

and in the beatrice letters theres something random about her being 10 or 11 years old, and the same for lemony!! im so confused!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Sourlemonsnicket beatrice is mrs. baudalaire's name. the baby was named for their mom. lemony was in love with mrs. baudalaire.

  • @nanarosemay thanks! :) its just so confusing how snicket makes all these random comments about random people and about his random past throughout the books :P

  • Anyone else get a Alfred Hitchcock feeling?

  • what's O LED RICE?

  • @Seguris

I didn't really like to read either but I just love this series.Im sitting in my room right thinking Should I watch T.V. or read?I pick read:D

  • And 1,2,0.AAAAHHHH!!!!!

    lmao.

  • He wants to remove my face?<:o

  • i loved this series so much as a child, the audiobooks were amazing and so was the music, so when i watched the movie i was absolutely horrified. you cannot make movie out of these books that could ever do them justice

  • I swear, there are thousands of amazing books and series out there but there is nothing exactly like Lemony Snicket's- especially as a young kid there is so much to think about and take in, and come to conclusions with the series.

And he too is such a mystery. But so brilliant all the same.

  • Read the auto biography. Made me believe i was gonna get dragged out the door by my ankles at night.

  • @TommyLou21 Bahahahahahah!! too true!

  • .____. BEST FRICKIN' SERIES EVER, I LOVE U LEMONY!!!

  • OMG!!!!!!! i'm reading the carnivorous carnival at the moment and my friend told me about this......wow. love it!!!

  • I hate how some ignorant people thinks this is creepy. Don't you see? if you think its creepy its because you aren't familiar with VFD you're just creeped out. While others understand VFD and trying to figure out the clues about this song because we do no fully understand what happens at the end. Take the triangle for example.

  • WATCH FRED!!!!!!!

  • the books does hint it @ babybell2204

  • love these books !!

  • what three videos?

  • @LuizConatti what three videos? i need to know!!!!

  • I DON'T GET THE TRIANGLE AM I STUPID SOMEBODY EXPLAIN IT TO ME! trio? triled? tririce? righto? rightled? right rice? triangleoledrice? Hypotenuseoledrice? HELP ME

  • @Ihatetomie watch all three videos

  • @KrustyFrank27 I did, but I schtill dont get it

  • @BlaiseRashelHarman10 if you take all the letters from the videos, they will spell out a message related to the books

  • @Ihatetomie SO, I saw the other videos.. It goes kinda like this:

I think it's supposed to be one triangle. In the left side, as we see it in this video, is spelled "O, Led, Rice". At the bottom is Spelled "W, Al, Eat" and at the right side "T, C, B". Now if anyone could explain that...

  • @LuizConatti "two called beatrice"

  • @LuizConatti It was a hint to the book "The Beatrice Letters." Get all the letters, arrange them correctly, and they spell "Two named Beatrice."

  • @Tuckerscreator I rearranged them and it said beatrice sank, referring to the boat that they escaped form the island on. It even shows pictures of the shipwrecked boat. also, Kit's baby was called beatrice, after the baudelaire's mother, hence, two named beatrice.

  • @TommyGeo101 wait, thats what the beatrice letters spelled out D:?? holy crap1 that means they all died! or ended up back on that island eventually?

  • @nanarosemay I don't think they died, the beatrice letters hint that they survived and were living somwhere or other, It might have been in the city...

The baby beatrice definately survived because all of Lemony's letters were to the young beatrice( Kit's daughter), But all the letters from Beatrice were from the baudelaire's mother.

I may have confused you then :D sorreh.

  • @TommyGeo101 soooo.....on wikipedia, it said that the Beatrice writing to him in The Beatrice Letters was after the events of The End. wtf? lol. was that the younger Beatrice, or the Baudelaires' mother?

  • @musicdork4ever Kit Snicket's baby was named Beatrice after the Baudelaires mother. So yeah, she survives the boat wreck after the events of The End and then she writes to Lemony.

In the Beatrice letters, Every letter TO Beatrice from Lem.ony is to the Baudelaires mother.

Every letter to Lemony is from Kit Snicket's Daughter, Beatrice.

    Have I confused you?

  • @TommyGeo101 haha but what about Violet, Klaus, and Sunny?

  • @musicdork4ever It doesn't say in the books. I can only guess that they survive aswell. I don't know much other than that xD Sorry.

  • @TommyGeo101 lol that's okay. thanks for answering my questions :)

  • @TommyGeo101 also, what happened to Violet, Klaus, and Sunny? sorry haha

  • @musicdork4ever It isn't really creat to be honest. I think that we're supposed to guess that because Beatrice, a baby, survived the shipwreck, it's highly likely that the Baudelaires survived aswell.

  • @TommyGeo101 It isn't really clear// I have no Idea why I wrote creat :S

  • this is so funny!

  • Oh my god this is such and creepy awesome song! MUST DOWNLOAD

  • I love Daniel Handler and Stephin Merritt to a point that borders ridiculous.

  • Back then about...4 years ago,Everyone was reading a series of unfortenute events. This series made me want to read it more. And The suspence would be overwellming I'd consum the books in my path.Im currently looking for the last two..If I may find them I am hoping to learn the truth of what happened(Even though I already know)

  • @animerXroxXmyXsoxX1

But...I thought no one reaaallly knows what happens about the VFD.

  • @Paximeister uhh not like that..I mean I KNOW what happens in the end of the series

  • i like the full version better

  • 1..2..0! Lol

  • I love this song, and the footage is simply awesome!!!

Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run..........

  • Every time I I listen to this song, I always think of the time I was at a Magnetic Fields concert in SF, and there was a sing-along to this, including "running" during the chorus. It was amazing :p

  • I am wondering about this, it was on his website and all and it looks very Snicketesque with the whole Noir thing going on, but the picture of the eye he has is from the movies and not from the books, so I'm curious . . .

  • @theclickerdogtrainer

Looks like the eye they used before they decided that the eye had "VFD hidden in it. The cover of book 1, for instance.

  • what does the paper at 0:31 mean?

  • @ZaaraDhoomSe

    DIS-gust

    DIS-spair

    DIS-may

  • @simplywierd lol thanks but i meant the one before it

  • @ZaaraDhoomSe nothing, part of snickets style is to include things in his books that mean nothing, for example in The Grim Grotto he continually says the water cycle, its just a part of his style.

  • lmao- the drawing of the manlady accomplise is awesome. This song is awesome, too. I'm so buying it off of ITunes! :P

  • Haha this is so cool! :D Is this a fan vid? Or is it real. Also is the Beatrice letters/book real? I can't find it! I NEED IT! :D

  • @TheRealPoofy it real

  • i love lemony snicket. his series of unfortunate events and jk rowling's harry potter get all the credit for making me an avid reader. i liked snicket's series so much that i wrote him a letter telling him how cool he was. a really long time later i received a small card from the author, typical snicket style. you know, depressed, in danger, run away type of language. i still have it today.

  • Lemony Snicket is the author of many books, all dreadful, and has been fausly accused of many crimes, all fausly. Until recently, he was living someplace else.

  • im on the 13th book :)

  • hahaha snicket is so awesome

  • i spent most of my freshman year in high school trying to figure out who this lemony was. its really just a story. sorry kids.

  • I always wondered what the question mark shaped object was?

If you have a thought feel free to answer me back.

  • @MrDebatableCobra its the Great Unknown (i think)

  • @MrDebatableCobra The ?-shaped object is a symbol for the unknown. That is why everyone, even the 'villains' are afraid of it, and thats why there is a ?-shaped shadow in the last picture of the series. They all sail into the unknown.

  • disturbingly good, so sad it's over...

  • Omg I loved reading those books when I was liddo(:

  • i love his books and this song is good

  • me and my friend with the same name love mr. snicket. he is the best author ever!!!!!

  • @Seguris I agree, I didnt like it at first, in fact I didn't read any books at all, and I soon read them all, snuck up to my desk every night to read the books.

  • kind of disturbing

  • how is this disturbing? MI FAVORITE BOOKS THOUGH!!!

  • Lemony Snicket if I may, is actually an author named Daniel Handler. Lemony doesn't like publicity

  • why cant anyone see his face?

  • @candygirldream something about V.F.D

  • I read the series when i was much younger but didnt understand much. Even back then it was my favorite series, it still is. i think Count Olaf started the fire to the both the Baudelaire mansion and the Quagmire mansion. Thats probably why there was the schism but I am probably wrong.

  • I believe it was just a freak accident that started at the wrong time. Unless those evil pair from The Slippery Slope started the fire?

  • I dont know but I think so because of the tunnel from dark avenue to the baudelaire mansion

  • i have a commonplabook and i fill it with everything i know about the baudelaire orphans and jacques and beatirice and lemony .

    the world is quiet here

  • im the greatest snicket fan in fact the baudleaires are my best friends

  • How is this disturbing?

  • I hate reading, I hate reading texts and all books.

I got grounded one day ny my Mother and my sister forced me to read a book called 'The bad beginning' I threw it away. Until the point I got so bored I picked it up. The intro made me puke, but then I slowly noticed i had gotten through so much of it, I was stuck. I asked for the next and then the next and then the next. Wow Snicket, I mean your books made a book hater read, such intensity and cliffhangers that made it so much better

  • @Seguris If you think the series of unfortunate events is good [which it is] you should read harry potter.

  • @Seguris hahahahaha i hated reading also, but when the movie came out my mom told me to read the first one and although i refused i kept reading and reading i became hooked!

  • @elohel9dalton I KNOW THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME! too bad lemony/daniel decided to end the series cause the last book wasn't enough for me!

  • @Seguris Lmao same with me (not on groundment part though) i hate reading now i love it (nerd attack)

  • @Seguris I completely agree!

  • My friends were surprised I was in the Library Waiting for the next book to come out, It was so intense ( 6th book by then). I sat and read at home from the after noon till i finished number 7 (the best one i recall) all the mysteries and intensities in the book was just so sweet I loved it soo much. From then on I followed until 'The End' which just pissed me off I wanted a longer line but, ah well.

Just to say Snicket, your books change readers, I loved every single word of the series GJ.

  • Is there any news on any new 'series' or something simmilar to the Unfortunate Events or something added on.. anything? lol ppl I have to read books for assignments, But I cant read anything other than the Series of Unfortunate events :S If i have to read i re-read those again and like it.

  • No, but there are other lesser known books by the same author.

  • Scream and run away!

The first time I saw this, I never ceased to replay it again and again....

  • THE WORLD IS QUIET HERE

  • really weid

  • amg, i think that really is daniel handler. i thought this was a fake. :/

but at one point, it looks just like him.

  • @lordcredin

Daniel Hadler is Lemony Snicket. Lemony Snicket is his Penn Name.

  • All of Count Olaf Acting Troupe Count Olaf Esme Squalor The Wart Faced Man (TBB Only) 2 Powder Faced Women The Hook Handed Man (Fernald) Person who looks Like neither A Man or Woman Man With No Hair And A Beard Woman With Hair and no Beard The Bald Man I think that's it but tell me if im missing someone
  • @newmewtonew the bald man and the wart faced man is the same

  • are they?i never heard the bald man had warts on his face. otherwise the baudelaires whould have saw him in MM

The wart faced man was in charge of the lighting in the Marvoulus Marrige and then turned them off so count olaf could escape. he was never seen again after than

  • U spelt the hooked mans name wrong its Fernando

  • No, the hooked man's name is Fernald.

  • im sure its fernando :/

  • Hugo, Kevin and Colette?

  • This cracks me up! I love it. Can't help but think of Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" though. :P

  • ..."Dispair" isn't a word. (:33)

    Hahaha, but this was good.

    I rather enjoyed it.

  • dispair is a word, go look it up in the dictionary you're sure to find a definition there.

  • dispair isnt a word... its spelled despair...

  • @Ch3shireKitten Dispair isn't a word??? D=

  • @tobyrat23

I could've sworn it was spelled "despair."

  • I want to read the letter to beatrice. Since I read the books when I was younger, I didnt understand the great mystery of beatice till when i read the series a second time last summer. He is GENIUS. I would love to shake his hand and converse over a cup on coffee.

  • I would love to shake his hand to

he has entreged me into reading something different in literature mostly

the books i read is about a kid who lives in the past and has a bumpy life or a child going to school thats full of chaos...BORING!!!! I read this series and i love the mystery, the humor, the horror, the fantisy, the setting out of personality, and the series of unfortunate events!

I REALLY WANT TO MEAT HIM!

  • I would love to meet him hes a literary genius most books i read are boring and this really intreges me because i love fantisys and mysteries.

I WOULD LOVE TO MEET HIM!

  • vfd = eye symbolism .... anyone else seeing a connection to illuminati???

  • Illuminati.....?

  • @babybell2204 thats what i thought but then i was like nah, these books arent even extra popular so the eye is probably nothing...i guess...

  • @babybell2204 Exactly. And the way Count Olaf and the evil VFD people kill the good VFD people and get away with it...and the whole world having idea of what was going on. Perhaps the books are giving us a secret warning about the illuminati.

  • @babybell2204 Your right XD funny that. . .

  • @babybell2204 everything related to the eye does not have to do with the illuminati. stupid conspiracy theories, people who believe them are idiots.

  • I finished the Series

  • i am reading that series right now so far it is quite good. you did a really good job at explaining cunt olaf.

  • his acting troope members are

(if you havent read the carnivorous carnival or the slippery slope ill tell you its original members)

count olaf the hook handed man the two white faced woman the bald man with a beard the person thats nither man or woman and eseme squalador

  • Wow.

    I REALLY liked this.

All the other videos Ive seen of The Gothic Archies are quite bad.

So good job at impressing me.

  • SCARY! (GIRLY SCREAM)

  • have that song on ipod

  • Lemony Snicket Is evil!

Genius. I've read all of them and the his auto biorphy! VFD!!!

  • ive read 12, i just started The End... i cant put it down

btw hasnt at least 3 other people done a music vid like this?

  • This video is on his website :)

  • good books

  • Good? These books aren't good at all. THEY ARE PHENOMENAL! Lemony Snicket is the reason I'm starting a career in Journalism.

  • Very frightening dirge.

  • run or die die die die die die die.

  • Lemony Snicket in real life is a chubby little fellow. That doesnt change the fact that is books were genius.

  • AAAH!!! *RUNS AWAY FROM COUNT OLAF

  • I didn't realize this was a sad occaision!

    *loved it*

  • Oh, this is totally lovely like the books! .. Count Olaf.. What a man ;D

  • Excuse me young lady, have you been good to your mother?

  • the question is, has she been good to me

  • The world is quiet here.

  • LOL. I was ten when I first heard this song, the very first time I became a fan of the audiotapes. I didn't know what to expect because my sister hadn't told me what they were about, at all! The first thing you hear on the tape is this song, which gave me a freakin' heart attack. I wanted to turn it off but I was too terrified!

  • For some reason this gives me the creeps.

  • I say, was that Vaguely Fast Driver on the Burly Bike Count Olaf? That's a good reason to Scream and Run Away, isn't it?

  • go Mr. Snicket!!!! how did u get ahold of this fotage?????!!!!! ps... ive read the BEATRICE LETTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is an amazing book..well collection of letters

  • Snicket isn't their sibling. Beatrice was their mom and he was in love with her.

  • he IS a sibling. it says so in the penultimate peril and in 13 shocking secrets you wish you never knew about lemony snicket

  • He is a sibling, but not of the Baudelaire family.

  • I've found myself to believe that perhaps Mr. Snicket was actually Mr. Baudelaire, and that he changed his name in the series for protection from VFD. He's spoken about sitting in the Baudelaire mansion preparing for parties and such with Beatrice, but every time he mentions this, he doesn't speak a word about the Baudelaire father. I think that he was in love with Beatrice, but she died in the fire, and he was he sole survivor that the Snicket File claimed existed.

  • If you wish to argue your opinions with me, I openly invite you to do so. I'd love to hear other people's theories on this.

  • @SarahOasis The Baudelaire's father was Bertrand. He speaks about meeting him a couple times, and says specifically that he did not marry Beatrice. He evens sends her a letter congratulating her on the wedding.

  • @SarahOasis well in the 13 facts of Lemony Snicket,or something like that, says that he is one of the three siblings ,confusing :/

  • @CaptainSeaWolf Isn't that just one of the snicket siblings, Jaques, Kit and Lemony?

  • @TommyGeo101 ,you know what,right know I am confused about everything xD,so I don't know :/

  • @CaptainSeaWolf there are four three siblings,Bauldailre,Quagmire,Snicket and Denoument

  • @SarahOasis Actualy, Your rigt about him being in love with Beatrice

It says it in every book!

  • @SarahOasis have you read the beatrice letters? it explains alot more about this! sort of. well actually it makes everything more confusing. o.o

  • @SarahOasis Then why did Beatrice write him a 400 page book detailing why she could not marry him? (Book 4)
