  • I hope the senior citizens driving these can read those gauges!! ALL senior citizens drive them...

  • Same exact motor as the new mazda6 too right?

  • @METALMUNKEEZ

um...no, two completely different car companies (GM and Ford, or Mazda...same thing), and mazda's 6 doesn't even offer a 3.0L V6

  • @tombomb407 Not Anymore it doesnt....the 3.0 Liter V6 was avalible in the 2002-2008 Years.

  • @form109 true, it did offer ford's mondeo V6 engine for those model years (02-08), but that's still a ford engine...and i said "does not" offer a 3.0L V6, implying that they currently do not have a 3.0L V6 as an option for the current mazda6. this is a 3 liter variant of GM's high-feature V6

  • @tombomb407 General Motors has really advanced its lineup since 2005...I Love All Buicks...but they really became competitive cars recently...no more old person car images.

  • @form109 I agree with the fact that Buicks aren't only "old people cars" anymore, but GM isn't the only car maker that has advanced their lineup or their lineup's image in the past 6 years, automotive technology has altogether advanced and brands have evolved since 2005...I wasn't arguing about Buick's worthiness as a marque in general or their target market, I was just pointing out that there was no way the LaCrosse's GM High Feature V6 was in any way, shape or form, related to Ford's Mondeo V6

  • @tombomb407 yeah i know they're diffrent engines, and i was just saying Buick has improved....Cadillac has modernized its image quite abit....there's no longer any "Traditional" Caddies....not since the departure of the Fleetwood.....Lincoln is also trying to shake its Traditional Image....and that will be gone with the Towncar.

  • @form109 ...thus supporting my previous post. Ford is planning stopping production of the Lincoln Town Car in August of this year, and of course automakers across the board are modernizing their lineups. Baby boomers aren't buying as many cars any more, and when they do want to, they and their preceding generations of car buyers want more efficient, practical, and technologically advanced cars, which is why not just the "old people" car makers but all of them are updating their lineups.

  • Nice car and a great sounding motor! The performance is weak as hell though.

  • Same engine as my car; Saturn L300.

  • @SFGAdude NOT!

  • @uakronsam116 Damn straight, sounds the same though.

  • Those dials are SO confusing! Good excuse for speeding though ;)

  • you can get a 3.6 for this i seen one

  • 7k rpm?!?! dang, i need that in my lebaron hahahaha

  • I still have my 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue with the 3.5L TwinCam V6 with 215 HP and 240 ft/lb of torque.

Man that car is awesome. For a 4-door grocery getter, that thing will give you a freaking whiplash if you step on the gas. Instant torque = immediate gratification.

To me, Buick is AKA Oldsmobile...somewhat :)

  • I'm so glad GM discontinued this engine in the Lacrosse for 2011.. It was SO slow. I think the 2.4L 4 CYL. was faster than the 3.0L V6.

  • @ThePebxrs2004

That's because the 3.0 V6 made almost no torque, and the torque it made peaked in the 5K RPM range.

  • @SpiritA350 thats pretty damn high voor a 6. its bcuz the way they tune it? or build it?

  • @flyerholland

I think its the tune. Holden's 3.0 peaks at like 2,900 RPM

  • @flyerholland Taking after Europe are we, America? ;)

  • smooth shifts

  • Cant wait for you to test the CXS

  • They need to get rid of all gm vehicles...They are unreliable and as soon as you drive them off the lot you lose half of there value...I have owned 3 of them and tried to take up for the company...NEVER again..

  • @kenneykole Pontiac and Saturn are gone. Buick stays ...

  • @mpgomatic Oh really, oh, I thought the buick will be gone. Well that good

  • @kenneykole Ye buick is definately staying they just made Buick into a sport/luxury catagory. Sort of like Cadillac. They wouldn't all of the sudden change buick for 1 year then get rid of it lol. It will be around for a long time.

  • All i have to say is TL SH-AWD....

  • I would take this over a BMW 535i because of the massive price difference. The lacrosse has more standard stuff. I do wish i could get a manual on the lacrosse though. And the bmw does perform better...

  • Even if this car is slower then the Ford Taurus, it is a better car then the Taurus in comfort, better interior and exterior, but the Ford is the performance king.............

  • Also how many horse does it have?

  • My buddy have 1999 Buick Park Avenue, his car is a large car and it have 3.8L V6 205 hp and I can see his car is faster than this LaCrosse.

Is this new LaCrosse is heaver than 2006-08 model?

  • @kenneykole Ya, it's heavier. This particular model has 255 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque.

  • oh really? wonder why. Thanks for info too.

3.0L V6 have 255 hp?? no turbo? that pretty much for small V6.

    Because I know the BMW's 3.0 I6 - twin turbo - 300 hp.

So to me is, that big difference, right.

And If you put a twin turbo into it, it might have more power than BMW.

  • @GeneralMotorsRules American car maker's have really stepped up their game, my stock 10" Fusion put's out 240 HP and 250 w/ E85 from a 3.0 liter, only a couple of years ago their 3.0's would only put out 200 at most. I'm excited to see Chevy's new police car though.

  • That LaCrosse is pretty quick!!! Very impressive to say the least!!

  • not alot of low range torqe

  • Sweet sounding V6.

  • Looks pretty Fast,

Hey Everyone, did you get the youtube new page??

I do really like the old style better than this because I do not like this new page and it is little confuse to use. Just Wondering.

    Thanks

Is there any way can I get back to old page?

  • Its more like 6,800 rpm. Take another look at the tach.

  • Its more like 6,800rpm.

  • Its more like 6,800 rpm.

  • thats fuckin fast for a 3.0 L

  • dude., no thats not, I have a 06 taurus SEL 3.0 v6, the 0-60 in that is 6.7 seconds with traction controll off... so this video is an average 0-60 in a 3.0 l

  • kinda slow... like, alright for a luxary car, but, ya

  • Actually this is one hell of a base engine.. IT is actually a pretty quick engine combo in the new gm vehicles that use it.. Obviously the 3.6L is better... BUt not a bad base engine at all.

  • yeah, Plus the weight i bet this car has slows it down considerably, my 06 Taurus sel would rip this car appart, but of coarse the taurus is a very fun to drive car

  • I'm really liking the way these new GM engines redline around 7,000 RPM!

  • @JHook1627 For shure, it seems like only yesterday most domestic v6's didn't like going over 5k...

  • @JHook1627 They finally figured out how to use overhead cams!

  • Suppose to be a quiet car ?

  • Is the 3.0DI more powerful than the 3.6? And is the 3.6 version a DI engine too?

  • the 3.6 is far better and also direct injected, My parents have the 3.6 in their acadia and enclave and It puts out far better power than the 3.0, returns 25 highway as well. Not bad for 7 seater AWD suvs.

  • Hold the brake and rev...it'll bring the revs up....and there you go...a homemade launch control system.

  • 7.5 sec, pretty okay. The 3.6L would most likely be much quicker

  • @4MATICbenz Its atleast 8.6-9.0 seconds.... Thats what i keep getting on the blackberry,iPod, and video timer!

  • @4MATICbenz The 3.6L takes 6.6 seconds to reach 60mph

  • How did u rev the car before starting ur 0-60 run? Im sure Buicks dont have a launch control lol.

  • LMAO!

  • 0-60 in 7.5 seconds.

  • I don't think this thing did to bad.. I'd like more power though so I would go for the 3.6 engine. 8 seconds still isn't bad for a 0-60.

  • aww man.... the LaCrosse is not good at performance... i was kinda hoping it would be kick ass! it has such a good and luxurious interior.. but no performance to match.. damn. still better then acura tho. but not a BMW

  • thats cause it only has a 3.0l in it. if you got the better engine it would be better.

  • ok yea thanks. i figured that out

  • Y would they give these cars a 3.0??? I have a 3.8 and that engine is fucking awesome, much more room for power and very reliable. Didn't the new buicks have the series III 3.8 in them? I thought they did. Fuck this 3.0 bullshit.

  • 3.8 was and is a good engine but its not competitive anymore...its an easy target for mags that call it "ancient, unrefined, and thirsty" just because its an overhead valve design. The 3.0 isn't a good engine yet as it doesn't have good calibration but in some other markets it performs great - give it a few years to mature.

  • Ancient? Its not THAT old, unrefined? idk myabe, I'm no mechanic, but thirsty??? I get 33 MPG Highway out of my 03 Bonneville SLE. And I was wrong anyway, The Buick Lucerne is the car I was thinking of and it has a nice big 3.9L that gets almost 240 horses and gets 30 MPG :) man i'ld love one of those 2010 Buicks.

  • You're an idiot. 3.8L Series II engine for it's power and torque has extremely good gas mileage. You want refined? Get a hybrid.

  • You are the idiot. Notice i'm not the one calling it unrefined or thirsty, but every mag harps on it because its a pushrod engine. And lets face it -- it's not competitive with contemporary engines (such as the 3.6 SIDI) that push 300 horsepower with better fuel economy. I have a 3800 Series II in my personal vehicle and I KNOW its a good motor. If GM had updated it to increase its output, then I would agree with you.

  • What car do u have it in?

  • 1996 camaro rs.

  • You should put the L67 in that thing :)

  • I would but its super expensive and labor intensive to do the swap in a 4th gen - figured i might as well just buy a GTO or something!

  • @masospaghetti Drop a Turbo in a Regal GS or Grandprix GTP for 2000$+ and you can have a 300-400+hp car easy. :)

  • @masospaghetti .. I agree, the 3.8's are great motors. You want to know WHY all the new ones aren't as efficient... THERE IS TOO MUCH STUFF IN THEM! The 3.8 is a very simple design, built to last, and gets great mileage for the size of the motor. All of these motors with dual overhead cams, variable valve timing.. blah blah blah just have more moving parts, which equals less efficiency. Yes they do get a little bit of a margin of mileage better, but not much more compared to an "ancient" motor.

  • I agree, totally, all that rotating mass eats up energy. But still, if you look at the 2006-2008 Lucerne which had the 3800 Series III, it only put out 197 hp and got like 17/25 mpg - and while its a heavy car, the engine didn't even have EGR if I remember correctly. I think it did well when the cars weren't so heavy - maybe it just needed to be retuned.

  • @masospaghetti a little bit of tuning would have done wonders. If they swapped out the old 4spd and put in a 6, it would still be around with emissions revisions. These new ones as you may notice rev MUCH higher to get their horsepower, and to do .. well everything else. like 67-6800 rpm is pretty high . If I remember correctly, the 3.8's did everything at about 1100 rpms earlier lol.

  • @powerstrokediesel365 Well, 3.8L is OHV. The new motors they are using are DOHC right? DOHC will always rev higher than an OHV engine (unless it's like the 7.0 litre specially designed with titanium pushrods n shit corvette engine lol. 3.8L OHV makes most of it's power in the lower RPM range, which DOHC's need to rev higher typically to achieve the same amount of power, this is true, of course, depending on the engines you're comparing.

  • Yes, the 3800 made Ward's Ten Best list for many years in a row, right there with Nissan's VQ35 motor, and can easily be modded to put out 300+ hp.

My 'ancient' 3100 motor is fairly highly modded, putting out 250hp while naturally aspirated, and still gets 28mpg on the highway, and can do the 0-60 run in less than 6 seconds with an 'ancient' 4sp auto to boot...

    -Peace.

  • zzzZZZZZZzzzz

  • OK yes I know they're not direct competitors but wouldn't an SEL V6 AWD Fusion be faster than this?? I mean they're both 3.0L, 6spd auto, and AWD....the Fusion seems a lot faster than this thing, oh yeah the Fusion's smaller and weighs less, maybe that's it...

  • yeah the fusion is way quicker its because of that redesigned duratec that ford produced that engine is unreal we have it in our 08 mkz that thing hauls ass we hit 0-60 in 6.8 seconds and we couldn't reach the top speed but we had it going 245 km/h then had to slow down

  • even though its not the quickest sedan, it doesnt seem to strain or anything!

  • this is not meant to be fast, It's meant to transport grandma and grandpa to poker night, snow or shine!

  • Not anymore it ain't. I love the new Buicks, I would take a Lacrosse in a heartbeat. The general consensus is that it is better than the Lexus ES350.

  • you also seem to like American cars in general, so your opinion (like mine) is biased. In all honesty could you see a young professional driving a lacrosse around?

  • 8 seconds.. my 1.5l could keep up with that

  • Your 1.5L weighs a hell of a lot less too.

  • What?! This is the least insightful comment in history. Is your 1.5 a Polo or is it something the size of this? I suspect it is the former.

Anyway, your 0-60 video in the Protege is a lot slower than 8 seconds (I don't know enough about Portege's to know if they have 1.5s)

  • look @ the 1 where the A/C was off because with the a/c on its 15 seconds but with it off its 9. so i can keep up with this 2010 with my 96

  • What is with all the old-skool dashboards now? New Mustang, Camaro, Taurus, and now this?

  • I'll always miss the 3.8L. That's a great motor. And a heated steering wheel would be Godly. Every car should have one standard. xD

  • I'll bet the 3.6 is a helluva lot faster

  • Er, yup. Didn't have access to one ... maybe down the road.

They did have a CTS-V, tho. Couldn't talk 'em out of it, sadly. That car is a BEAST. :)

  • @mpgomatic How do you get these cars for review anyway? I've always wanted to review new cars and post my reviews online, I just don't know where to start.

  • @GeneralMotorsRules - All of our review vehicles come from the manufacturers. This isn't as easy or as fun as it might look. We spend a lot of time just keeping the cars clean ... how are you at detailing? =)

  • @mpgomatic Funny you asked! Detailing is a hobby of mine. So, do you just request a review unit from the manufacturer? What crudentials do you need, and where do you have to go to pick one up?

  • @GeneralMotorsRules - There are a bunch of hurdles to jump. Marketing budgets are tight and there are far fewer vehicles in the press fleets these days. Generally speaking, you'll need to work for a media organization and have a proven audience. Membership in an automotive press association is a big plus. It's all about the eyeballs.

  • @GeneralMotorsRules Thank you for asking those questions!!!

  • @caddyman07 No problem. You looking into doing reviews too?

  • @GeneralMotorsRules Well, kinda. I wanted to start a magazine years ago. I just recently stared thinking about it again.

  • It is

  • My moms old 95 3.8 would blow that away D:

  • Ha! Maybe ... but does it have a heated steering wheel? :)

  • kinda slow
