This song was written by Shel Silverstein and Dennis Locorriere, and was originally recorded by Dr.Hook on their 1976 album "A Little bit more".
(Dennis Locorriere was Dr.Hook`s lead vocalist.)
Willie Nelson and many other has recorded this song later on...
