Iv'e recently taken an interest in the paranormal and thought this would be my perfect first trip. I have never been inside or even on the property but i just wanna see it and experience it for myself . Does anybody have advice for a first timer? Beware of Cops? Squatters? best building to investigate?
@daschko6 not completely, but the big driveway place is still semi-up, the parts across the street are all coming down, i heard theyre making a playground over it.... what kid wud want to play on the swings knowing theres a mental ghost over their shoulder...
two, yes, there is a ghost of a nurse that is said to reside there, i have heard her myself on many occasions and so have many others. ghost adventures and ghost hunters both did an investigation on this hospital and both picked up evidence of the nurse there. three, i saw someone ask how many people died there, over 10,000 people died in the hospital, mainly because supposedly ,in the winter of 1917, the hospitals boilers failed and people froze to death inside their beds.
ok let me get some facts straight because after reading all the comments some people have no clue what they are talking about or some people are unsure about some rumors about what happens here at essex county hospital. for one, the hospital WAS closed in 2007, not because of the number of deaths, and not because the county randomly decided to close it down, it was simply because they felt the complex was too outdated since it was built in 1896 and decided to build a more modern campus.
Yo i was there like 2 months ago and im going again to get more video through the tunnels... if u wanna watch some good videos whats left of overbrook click my name...
the music really adds to the creepiness lol i went there today heavily patrolled i had to sneak in through the wood luckily i had my night vision scope lol
@PSNjackdonkey12 only once but i hauled ass out because cops are everywhere lol its sad to see this place go and you think they might collapse under the snow we're getting?
@TheDieselGene no. its actually a pretty sturdy place surprisingly..... hopefully. we were gonna go tonight into tomorrow but we didnt cause of the snow.... we were pissed.
@PSNjackdonkey12 i know the snow sucks right? i worked 3 hours digging out my house lol i'm gonna go there soon once the snow clears up but think the snow might be an advantage cuz the cops wont be able to catch u in their 2wd cars lol
@PSNjackdonkey12 by the way the music you might have heard might have been me and my friends we were in the area blasting motley crue lol mid october i saw your videos pretty cool i must say my friend goes to verona hgh school down the street lol
@PSNjackdonkey12 by the way the music you might have heard might have been me and my friends we were in the area blasting motley crue lol mid october i saw your videos pretty cool i must say my friend goes to verona hgh school down the street lol
i see some of overbrooks buildings off of Fairview ave but there heavily guarded with security my guess is these building featured in the video are no longer standing??
don't know if that was a great idea going there. the cops have a base station in one of the buildings and they have been locking people up left and right.
I have been going to thisplace for years since I grew up in town. When they knocked down the original buidlings down on the original site they built houses.. Great.. Now they want to tear down the exisiting buildings to make way for a park? Verona park is less than 5 minutes away. Leave the site alone, its a part of history that the state hasnt destroyed YET.. What would the benefit be? To give all the mommy bloggers the opp to clog up the area with minivans and disenfectant wipes?
those tunnels were used for transporting patients to and from. Also maintenance used them to access buildings quickly. They were also used to move deceased patients without going outside.
@Pooby831 and there is no graveyard where the patients are burried, they were either cremated or given to the family for a proper burriel. the only graveyard in any of those towns you mantioned is in caldwell, but those are all revolutionary war soldiers and such
they arent building houses either
and its only been abandoned for 2 and 1/2 years!
so much wrongful speculation about this place, you wonder why people think its haunted...
Supposedly the state could'nt keep the place running. And the topwnships of Cedar Grove, Verona and Caldwell. Put a lot of pressure on the state. Because the residents considered the hospital an eyesore. And Real Estate Developers have been trying to get thjeir hands on that land since the sixties.... Between the state crying broke, politics, and other pressures. The state closed the place down.
I remember the summer of 84' there were 7 alleged suicides at the hospital..... The state investigated and found "no cause for concern" My mother did'nt believe they were ALL suicides though.
Well, unfortunately I wont get a chance to see it before its just a memory. But the memories of working in that place will be with me forever. You know I still see this one patients face from time to time in my sleep.... She hung herself on Ward 56 after being moved from ward 54....
Makes me wonder if she is trying to tell me something....
Honestly, I do believe there are some souls there who are'nt at rest. There were so many unexplained deaths there when I was a kid. And so many of those people were buried in unmarked graves somewhere in Cedar Grove or Caldwell.
People were abused and probably killed by some of the staff there.... I sure would like to see it one more time....
My mother and I used to work at this hospital. She worked there for 20 long years. Retiring in 1989 due to illness. The buildings you were in were Ward 54 and Ward 56. Violent nutcases were kept there.
i want those people from ghost adventures to go in there. that would b a cool episode.
