I once had a kitty with an auto-immune illness and had to have steroid shots every few months, and he'd act soooo funny after cuz the vet said it made them feel drunk. He'd stare at the wall for hours like he was watching something moving and try to interact with it, and would have his tongue hanging out all cute & stuff.

Oh holy crap. This is a common reaction for a cat after it receives a drug called ketamine. I'm reading all these comments about it having something stuck in his throat.. It is perfectly normal for them to do this because it leaves a strange aftertaste and dryness. Why did they have to sedate him? For a car ride, or the exam?

My mum taught me that you put them in a dark pillow case while they travel. They cannot see what's happening and it calms them down. My cat used to relax and have a nice snooze. She was pretty timid though. I had a ginger who was the opposite.

I once gave a two of mine tranquilizers before travelling. Will never do it again. Besides, all drugs damage the liver.

It was supposed to calm them down, which it did in one way, but in another it bombed them out so much they peed all over the bed.

If people are traveling with cats I think it's best to protect them from that poison. Most cats will settle down after about 30 minutes if they don't suffer from claustrophobia.  (One cat I owned did have that so couldn't cage her).
