Great monologues, superb acting and one of the greatest soundtracks from one of the greatest musicians in one of the greatest films of our time. what the fuck else could anyone else ever ask for. and i haven't even mentioned Scorsese yet. favorite could "I'm waiting for the sun to shine."
Betsy is also wearing white in this scene which makes her stand apart from the crowd. To Travis she looks like an angel drifting down the street. No, they cannot touch her.
As well as it being about her beauty and his madness, I think it's also about how he likes seeing her on the streets because she's beautiful and wants to feel that through the city as a whole, but then when the music changes, it is a contrast to how the streets actually are: 'this city here is like an open sewer'.
Beautiful soundtrack, actually just came back from watching Taxi Driver at a small time Old Theater with my brother. Celebrated the 35th Anniversary today, It was definitely a classic, great epic film. "I'll work anytime any place"
what a movie, and there are most of us who even to this day know what he is talking about. The world we're living is shit and someone needs to do something about it.
this music is so hauntingly seductive....it's like her beauty but in contrast with his madness (i don't know, it's hard to explain....words aren't even enough to explain)
@roxy6391 You did explained it all right, if you like Herrmann's music, you might also like "Psycho" and "Cape fear" soundtracks (both made by the same composer) ; they're great movies by the way...
fuck! this song makes me so sad :( fucking more sick of the world than i already was someday a real rain will come and was all the scum, filth, vino of the streets, true force.
@TheEscapeReality dont blame the world, blame the self-destructive tendencies of a mentaly ill, insomiac war veteran who just couldnt keep his sanity due to incomprehensible amount of debachury. all he wanted to do was save a soul
@TheEscapeReality Listen, you fuckers, you screwheads. Here is a man who would not take it anymore. A man who stood up against the scum, the cunts, the dogs, the filth, the shit. Here is a man who stood up.
Betsy is fucking sexy

I've never heard a better recording than this one. The mood of the original is just so... perfect. I get chills every time I hear it.

This song with nice a glass of brandy and a Cuban Havana would be nice right next to the camp fire.

@roxy6391 His "madness"? Or his truthfulness, insight, and honesty about things? I beg to differ with the latter :)
