Vince Cable: How disappointing. Nick Clegg: How disappointing. These sell-outs have turned the party into Tory lapdogs. Your one chance to be influential in front bench politics and you are failing. The Conservatives are conceding minor issues. Your decision on student fees will affect a whole generation and more - years to pay off their fees, no chance of getting a mortgage with such debt hanging over them, the collapse of the starter housing market, marriage pushed back later & later. SHAME!!!
So is he going to repeat all this to the 'snake oil salesman', now he'll be working for/with them. Or is he talking shit here. Perhaps he is joining the rich?
Are you going to be kneading the dough for Osborne's five loaves?
Are you happy to be working for the Party of UN-FAIRNESS.
You have a temporary taste of power, then nothing much after that, after yesterday.
Although I concede Clegg makes an equally good 'snake oil salesman'.
If you believe this now Vince, why are you joining forces with the Conservatives?
It seems the Lib Dems have lied to the electorate to gain a little notoriety, at the expense of real power and representing the feelings of the electorate and the majority of the country, which is clearly 'no' to Tory rule.
@onwebcameron I agree with you. Now they get the chance to rob from the poor to pay for the rich. If only Robin Hood could have thought of that and he may have made more money , his merry men could have become much more efficient. The take per head is obviously smaller whilst robbing peasants but there are many more of them and many are unarmed already.
@onwebcameron Why feed a small poor child when you can have a bit extra for yourself. Jesus could have also saved himself a lot of time and possibly the cross if he only new of this fiscal master stroke.God bless.
@max31198 Cont. He's (Vince) not bad though. But he's the only one in the Lib party and thats not enough talent to run a country. David Laws help run JP Morgan and was MD for part of Barclays so he'll know a bit about greedy bankers. But Laws is a smart cookie
Labour Conservatives will slash the meagre benefits of the poorest in the country whilst simultaneously importing foreigners to take the few low paid jobs there are left available.
Every election time we get the same disgusting vilification of the weakest in our society whilst MP's are currently being tried in court for fraud and bankers are paying themselves massive bonuses with our money, the right wing talk shows are attacking the poor. bullshit - attacking the Tories so he can steal their votes! A few years ago, when Labour was riding high, Lib Dems wanted more tax, now the wind is changing they are tacking to the right to try to pick up Tory votes
basically the Lib Dems don't believe in anything much except being all things to all people to try to get elected
Might I add ,as an individual ,Vince Cable is a man among boys .... Clegg step over let the right man run the party .....we have had enough of rich fresh faced lads telling us what is right ...Vince has lived a life ...you have not .

I suppose Vince Cable's idea of fairness is ''Do as I say not as I do.'' The only reason the audience cheers as loud as they do when Cable attacks the Tories is because they fear the Tories, and the number of marginals the Libs will lose to the Tories (Taunton, Eastleigh).
In an ideal world the LibDems/Greens would be in power and Vince would be a major figure in the gov't.
In the real world what we will no doubt have is that red faced Bullingdon Club oik Cameron and his cohorts selling off more of the family silver and giving bigger tax cuts to the wealthy.
You dont have to be a political genius to realise that the 80's free market initiated by Thatcher, has to be reversed with state intervention. New Labour have embraced Thatcher's free market since 1997, including taxation, pensions, and privatisation.
The Lib-Dems will never get into power, but ide like to see them in power, because New Labour have been the biggest con trick in British political history.
The free market hasn't caused this mess, and when the history books are written about this crisis, people will realise that. We have central banks, which sets an artificial interest rate that distorts the market. If the market sets the interest rate, the growth of the money supply would be moderate and controlled, and if we were on the gold standard, we'd have to follow a disciplined fiscal and monetary policy.
The money supply has been growing at around 15% per annum since 2001. We have had a massive credit explosion. Government control the level of money and credit in the economy through their central bank. Once we rid ourselves of central banks, we can abolish corporatism. The Austrian School economists are perhaps the most ardent free marketeers, and they have been predicting this crisis for 5 years, starting with Ron Paul.
He and his party were calling for higher public spending only a year and a half ago. This was despite all the warnings from various academic economists and the Conservative Party about corporate and personal debt in the country. And then last year, the party proposed a £20 billion reduction in spending. Vince Cable is heavily overrated. If you want intelligent economic news and financial analysis, read John Redwood's blog. Cable himself said that Redwood was the most financially astute MP
This is my favourite politician. Unfortunately he is not immune from the need for empty rhetoric. The assualt on the tories was empty. It would be as easy to write off his headline tax cuts as dealing wit the tory threat to liberal seats. Fortunately, he gets onto actual policies soon enough, tax dodgers and housing etc. Here he shows why he would make an excellent cabinet ministers.
then hes worse than i thought..... thats the problem with the lib dems..... even when they have a good man he wont do the job..... clegg will do the libs no good
'even when they have a good man he wont do the job'
He wont do the job cause he doesnt feel sutable for the job otherwise he would have it by now. Vince Cable is an economic genius, he predicted a housing market collapse long before it happened , and still said it would happen as both Labour and the Cons were laughing at him, he deserves more credit than he is given, as does Nick Clegg who has put the right peole in the right place within the party which i why Clegg is a good leader.
Very Clever Man , But as always the good men are always kept down, You / i often wonder did Blair know what was round the corner & bailed out just in time !!

What is wrong with the Tory and the New Labs? I love your sarcasm: "To share the proceeds of recession". What is this world coming too? The future is scary in the wrong hands

Don't get the idea you have to vote tory or labour, vote lib dem. They want what's best for us.

Question: Vinces says "Those overpaid financiers rattling their begging bowls and demanding help from the taxpayer should be sent packing."

New Labours 'achievements'
* An illegal war in Iraq + a 9 year war in Afghanistan.
* Tuition fees which locked the poor out of university.
* A record divide between the rich & poor.
* 2.5 million unemployed.
* Less renewable, home produced energy than nearly every other developed nation.
* Record patchwork privatisation in the NHS.
* Proposals for spending tens of billions on Trident, ID cards & more war.
If every Labour voter voted Lib Dem, Clegg would have a massive majority.

We have just lived through 2 terms of world domination by the conservative GEORGE BUSH.
He caused Britain to be less secure (Remember 7/7 happened after Iraq)
He caused global financial collapse, by easing regulation.
He aided the rise of extreme groups in the UK like the EDL/Islam4uk.
He ignored/banned any environmental movement.
He encouraged governments to spy on their citizens and distrust their neighbours.
This is NOT a right wing moment.
This is a LEFT wing moment.

1 Take money off the people, throw it at the problem, hope it goes away.
2 If it doesn't, repeat 1 above.
And they have the temerity to consider themselves intellectuals.
You couldn't make it up.
By the way, it helps to consider what's going on not as a recession but as a harvest.
