  • The saddle at that point was a work in progress, but I finished it and have been using it for jousting since April 2008. The seat is 6" off the horse's back. It exaggerates seat cues somewhat because of the leverage you have. Petrus seems pretty good with it, though I haven't jousted on him for quite a while, I use my other horse Leopold now. The construction is based on Henry V's saddle and the "Mojorca" saddle in Madrid. See my website for info on the saddle. historicenterprises -dot- com.

  • It looks like the saddle sits rather high off of the horse's back; how did that handle as compared to, say, a western cutting saddle? How did Petrus seem to feel about it? Also, what sources did you use for the actual construction? And finally, do you train apprentices? :D

  • @MachaMongRuad

I don't currently have any apprentices, but have had employees. I prefer working by myself, but am possibly open to taking on students. It depends on your goals and experience. email me directly-- jeffrey -at- historicenterprises-dot-com

  • Give us an update on the saddle - have you finished it? Have you jousted in it? Very interesting!
