I've never turbo'd a v6/v8 before. So little did I know, that the turbo is still usually after a Y-pipe or after long headers. So no special manifold is needed anyway... Like on 4 cylinders.
@IXGQ4LifeXI I wish someone would post up a vid of a STS turbo vehicle racing an engine mount turbo car. The differences are worlds apart and the power would make you throw away that rear mount setup. IMO STS systems are a waste of engineering.. Spend the time and build an efficient turbo system.
@BLKHAWK91483 Power not the problem. It is not a bad idea. The heat is away from the engine bay. Air probably cooler going into engine cuz of that. But there has to be Slight longer delay because exhaust gases have to get to rear and then boosted air needs to make it to front of the car. Then the air filter being low makes me nervous reason I dont use cold air intakes.

@p4horror It's known as option WS6 & As far as I know, all the ram air scoops on the TAs from the factory were functional. Perhaps maybe not on the V6 but on every V8 powered Formula and Trans am they were.
You could order a Formula w/ a WS6 option from '96 - '00. WS6 was no longer available on Formulas in '01-'02.

@psychoninja911 I wouldn't buy an STS turbo system. FWIW turbos need to be closer to the engine. Also I dont think having turbo at the back of the car to be safe.

@BLKHAWK91483 The reason I asked, is because I want to turbo the L32 (3.4 pushrod from 93-95 camaro) engine, in a Fiero.
I've never turbo'd a v6/v8 before. So little did I know, that the turbo is still usually after a Y-pipe or after long headers. So no special manifold is needed anyway... Like on 4 cylinders.

@IXGQ4LifeXI I wish someone would post up a vid of a STS turbo vehicle racing an engine mount turbo car. The differences are worlds apart and the power would make you throw away that rear mount setup. IMO STS systems are a waste of engineering.. Spend the time and build an efficient turbo system.

@BLKHAWK91483 Power not the problem. It is not a bad idea. The heat is away from the engine bay. Air probably cooler going into engine cuz of that. But there has to be Slight longer delay because exhaust gases have to get to rear and then boosted air needs to make it to front of the car. Then the air filter being low makes me nervous reason I dont use cold air intakes.

Lol, the mustang guys said, "If I didn't have to let off." I'd hate to tell him, he would have lost anyway, I agree with jeepguy1112, he had to shift, he didn't let off the gas. Corvettes have more power and a wider gearing range allowing them more time and speed in between shifts. You can't match it except with other extremely high performance cars, which that pony car isn't.

Sadly I would still take the Firebird over the corvette. Im a die hard Pontiac fan. BUT I LOVE BOTH! Im not a dumbass and do realize that both are made by GM. I just prefer Trans ams over corvettes, especially if you got a Ram Air hood on. Good lord i spew in my pants just thinking about it.

Obviously trans ams and firebirds are on the exact same frame and everything only thing is a firebird only comes in a v6. TRANS AMS are all v8's....so no a firebird is not a trans am.

@TheNak88 Correct. They are all Firebirds & the main difference is that the Trans-am is a V8 but there is also a Firebird Formula which is a stripped down TA with an emphasis on achieving the highest performance by reducing weight & even included a functional "Ram Air" hood.

Dumb question I know but I'm not too familiar with the TAs and in one clip this one hater was typing in that the vent's were fake, as in for show only. I found that hard to believe but again I'm not too in the knowing. And your comment states a functional ram air for the formula, kinda leaving that grey option that some wouldn't be. @p4horror It's known as option WS6 & As far as I know, all the ram air scoops on the TAs from the factory were functional. Perhaps maybe not on the V6 but on every V8 powered Formula and Trans am they were.
You could order a Formula w/ a WS6 option from '96 - '00. WS6 was no longer available on Formulas in '01-'02.
WS6 : PERFORMANCE PACKAGE, SPECIAL
WS9 : MODEL CONVERSION, FORMULA

I totally dig the power and styling of Trans Ams, it's a shame that GM had to end Pontiac. If they're really had their backs against the wall, they should have ended Buick, not Pontiac.
