  • and why RIO was not one of the nominees

  • rango is piece of shit, kung fu panda 2 or puss in boots should have won

  • Nice how they do so much research on youtube. Some of those animators just scribble and they get to be on this show? i dont understand -there is alot of us around who know CGI but for some reason we are not accepted for these awards and that is not right.

  • how would tintin not even being nominated...

  • l believe that pixar wouldve won if they came out with the incredibles 2 instead

  • :/ I would like that Tintin was nominated, it was such an amazing movie!

  • What the fuck? Rango won? That plotless piece of subpar animation? How the hell did THAT win? That was the first movie I have ever walked out of the theater during. It was just that horrid. It was stupid, the voicework was shite, the plot was nonexistent, all and all it just felt like Johnny Depp was trying to earn $20 bucks for his monotonous voice "talents." Ah well, the Oscars are stupid and broken anyway >w>;

  • that girl talks to much

  • I love happy feet

  • it keeps on changing but one of my all time fav. is rango!!! so awesome!!

  • Haha I knew Rango would won, It's just such a nice Movie! One of the bestAnimation movies ive ever seen!

  • Pixar will destroy them next year. Mark my words.

  • @trustfund82 What's the next movie? I don't quite remember it.

  • @LucasTheAutobot I do believe they have Brave lined up this summer.

  • ._. i have so many "3D Animated Movies"

Kung Fu Panda 1/2,Rio,Rango,Tangle,Happy Feet, Any 3D movies

    i'm freak happy.. i love 3D animated

  • RANGO WON!!!

  • Kung Fu Panda 2 All The Way!

  • tintin is by far the best animated movie this year.

  • Chico & Rita, definitely

  • Comment removed

  • Rango Deserve It

  • @moviebuff997 Exactly. how. I. feel. :)

  • the people in france are awesome at animation thats becuase anyone see persepolis?

  • @NiniMCa Happy Feet did not used 100% motion capture compared to Tintin, that's why it was eligible. Another reason Happy Feet was eligible is because Happy Feet was released before Avatar, the overused CGI film that made mo-cap films ineligible.

  • where can i find the " a cat in paris " trailer i searched but i always see another movie called the same

  • @hamza47able I never saw the trailer, but ask for the movie, it is VERY good.

  • Comment removed

  • shit...thats disapointing

  • @otakuman600 your face is disapointing

  • @huhuhuhuhuhuhuy your mom's disapointing:D trololololol

  • top 3

    RANGO

    A CAT IN PARIS

    KUNFU PANDA 2

  • @movievfx Im agree with you

  • Looking at Tintin, I just watched the making of the Happy Feet film. They used SOME motion capture and won the 79th (2007) Oscar award for Best Animated Feature Film. I've looked at the Oscar's reasons for making mo-cap films ineligible, so why can't the Academy come up with an "Animation with Motion Capture" category?

  • I wouldn't hold DreamWorks' win too high up, Grace. They may have outdone Pixar this year, but they have a long way to go to match their resume. Not to mention, Brave comes out this year...

  • Who is this fat b*tch? lol

  • you left out RIO also the two Hero Factory movies Ordeal Of Fire & Savage Planet

  • you talk too much.. :/

  • 0:46 helloooo.... its called studio ghibli. you havent seen animation untill you see their movies.

  • Rango hands down ... how come Puss in Boots is nominated? I thought it was worse than Cars 2 ...

  • tintin

  • I've only seen Rango and Chico and Rita so far but i think they're great. I don't think I'll see Puss in Boots but the others I'll definitely see. Just to let you know, Tintin may have been a finalist but it's possible that motion capture films are ineligible for nomination likely because of the over 50% use of CGI and mo-cap in Avatar. And besides, it has a 75 RT score and 68 for metacritic. Even though Roger Ebert gave it 3.5/4 but i think it's because of the 3D and i think he overreacts to 3D

  • How old are you? answer

  • Rango, Rango, Rango, Rangooooooooooooooo... RANGO!

  • Puss in boots! And cars 2!

  • Kung Fu Panda 2 deserves it without a doubt though I know it's going to lose.

  • poor pixar no nomination this year :(

  • I say Rango, but hey what do I know?

  • rangooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Chico & Rita per mi, la millor. A més catalana. Què més vols?

  • @TheCapiJunior res mes! :)

  • Rango (2011)

    Budget:

    $135,000,000 (estimated)

    300+ animation workers

    wow.

  • CHICO & RITA should win!!!! It has the best music, best colour and style and it really captures you into the story! I had to cry in the end! There has been never ever a animated film like this before and thats why it deserves to win. All the others are boring, especially Rango and Cats in Boots...

  • @Blaubeerquark rango is boring....????? did you even watch IT???? are you sure?? ohh,...chico and rita is great because of its story and it is romantic.....but....it is difinitely boring......rango is greater than chico and rita....why? because it is amazing....it has a great animation ......and,,...there was no part of the movie that is boring.......^_^

  • @Blaubeerquark i think you didnt like animated movies at all.....you only like their stories...isnt it??

  • Comment removed

  • @movievfx Let´s be realistic. If you change Johnny Depp with another actor, the movie turns boring and dull. Plus it has many cliches and can be predictable in many occasions. On the other hand, Chico y Rita is original ,artistic and the music is awesome.

  • @bakura54 ok, thats ur opinion...then why rio, happy feet and tintin did not nominated even they have a great music and songs....and they are original...im just expecting rango will win or a cat in paris....and johnny depp is my favorite but it doesnt mean that all of his movies is great......we have a different choice in choosing a good film...lets just wait who will be the winner.......im only expecting rango or a cat in paris will win... ^_^

  • @movievfx Rio didn´t have a good rating, happy feet neither, if you compared chico and rita (rotten tomatoes raiting) and Tintin use a forbidden techinque in animation (motion capture).

The bottom line is that Rango was made for Johnny Depp, the other characters aren´t interesting or funny. However, I agree with you, Cat in paris is another good option.

  • @bakura54 its not about johnny depp.....its about the movie.....i didnt say rango is amazing because it was made for johnny depp...rango is amazing because of its animation and music especially in sound editing...(i just wonder why rango didnt nominated for best in sound editing)

  • @movievfx Special effects... sorry my friend "the best movie" is not only special effects... It has also to be emotive, original in history, something that make you think about. If it was the case, avatar or inception would have the oscar for best picture. Rango has won so far because the other nominees aren´t that good. But now in the oscars, that would be interesting ^^.

  • @bakura54 did i say special effects???? i conclude that story of rango is not original....but do not look only in the story but also its animation and how will you enjoy it...chico and rita is difinitely great but not for best in animated film in oscars....maybe in best story..but did chico and rita nominated for best story??? a cat in paris or rango is deserving to win.... ^_^

  • @movievfx mmmmmmm Rango win I´m supposed you were right... Hopefully we didn´t bet XD

  • @bakura54 ^_^ i have to apologize of what i said that can hurt you......i just express my emotions and feelings......because rango was my favorite...^_^

  • @movievfx naaaaa not really. I fact, I´m happy that the artist won best picture, it was my favorite. Only I´m a bit dissapointed about the Academy´s desicion about animated featured. But anyway, it´s only a prize =P. Thank godness we didn´t bet =P.

  • @bakura54 yeah..but im really sorry.....me too..iim little disappointed also about the best in animated film in their nominations....happy feet and tintin should be there...

  • @bakura54 but im happy rango won...^_^

  • @bakura54 maybe it won because it was made different than other animated movies.... i think it's great....

  • Rango

  • that woman made me want to shoot myself in the head..she is so annoying

  • @puppylove2218 dude... shes grace motherfucking randolph

  • Rango all the way. Puss In Boots is a close second. Pixar not getting nominated = progress.

  • I didn't like Puss in Boots, nor kung Fu Panda 2.

  • rango or puss in boots...both were good

  • SOOOO PISSSED that Tin Tin ddn't get a nomination. FUUU

  • Tin Tin couldn't be called an animated film because it was mo-capped, and apparently you know next to nothing saying that the two hand drawn animations was a step out of the box. The Oscars ALWAYS adds movies from other countries and you shouldn't be playing them off. Get your facts strait. =_=;;;

  • @tythecooldude06 then why it is included in the 18 finalists for the animated film?????

  • Comment removed

  • why tin tin went out :(?

  • 22 36 56

  • how was tintin not nominated?

  • Kung fu panda 2 and Rango are my favs! but I can't pick witch one I want to win.

I know it has to be one or the other but I cant choose. thay both are very great films.

  • Kung Fu Panda totally deserves to win. It was by far the Best Animated movie of the year and it's sad that it is getting overlooked or forgotten other places.

  • Yes, Pixar totally did this to themselves. Then again, Cars 2 was a full blown kiddie movie which they primarily want it to be, right? The whole visual part of it was brilliant as ever. I'm actually a bit confused. I saw Rango just recently and the jokes and dialogues are not at all in the kiddie department. It's not inappropriate for kids but we, being adults, laughed more than any kid probably would. Yet, the giant snake wears a funny hat and the characters look kind of ridiculous. What is it?

  • If the Oscars are doing such a good job of looking at out-of-the-box movies, why was there no sign of "Mary and Max" in previous awards ceremonies? And what about this year's Arriety (based on "The Borrowers") from Studio Ghibli?

  • @Fatpie42 I was disappointed that Mary and Max didn't get nominated, too; it was my favorite film of 2009, period. It just had too much competition that year; it had to go up against the return of hand-drawn Disney, a Pixar hit, two quirky stop-motion novel adaptations, and a gorgeous indie surprise. I suppose its luck might have been better if it had been released the following year, but hey.

  • No Tintin....oscars are TOTALLY out of touch!

  • I think the Academy just hates Steven Spielberg

  • BECAUSE THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN WAS NOT NOMINATED ...........

    RANGO 50%

    KUNGFU PANDA 15%

    A CAT IN PARIS 15%

    PUSS IN BOOTS 15%

    CHICO AND RITA 5%

  • Kung Fu Panda 2 :)

  • TINTIN!! one of the bissest snubs of the year, how did this not get nominated??

  • @renov93 it was disqualified because it was motion capture which according to the academy isn't animation oh and its also why andy serkis wasn't nominated

  • I've never seen the first 2 nominees, but I did see the last 3, personally I would pick Puss In Boots because of its charm and hilarity, and also because it felt like more of what the first 2 Shreks, my 2nd choice would be KFP2 because of the depth and character development that is possessed while still having numerous action sequences. Rango would be my last choice and while I did enjoy it thanks to a solid script and a truly great VoiceOver performance from Depp, it didn't feel as enjoyable a

  • Rango FTW!

  • Rango!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That movie was great. I was going to say Puss & Boots but Rango was 100,000 X better

  • Rango for sure

  • Rango. But Tintin should have been nominated.

  • Has andy serkis upset the acadamy or something? snub for rise of the apes and tintin disgrace.

  • FUCK THE ACADEMY

    TINTIN FTW

  • I've watched "Kung Fu Panda 2" and "Puss in Boots" I have an interest on "Chico and Rita" but I do prefer "Rango". I didn't watched this movie however but some critics do really love "Rango" because of the character and the settings.

  • Here's what should have been nominated: Cars 2, Tintin, Puss in Boots, Winnie the Pooh and Rango

  • @mrlegoman11 IGNORANT!!! Cars 2 is the definition of shit, and had you seen A cat in Paris and Chico & Rita??? this are the best nominations in years!!!! Tintin SUCKS TOO!!! it isnt animation!!!! and is boring, stupid and is just the knee of the original TitTin

  • @huhuhuhuhuhuhuy An smart answer.

  • Puss in a boots is the best

  • Rio and Winnie the Pooh should have been nominated! Instead of some of these movies.

  • she is an animated movie hater she only likes hand-drawn movies

  • Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below.

The Academy just hasn't seen it yet (and probably never will).

  • RANGO

  • Grace, tintin wasn't 'snubed,' tintin uses live action, which disqualifies it from the animated category.

  • kung fu panda

  • Holy frijoles, Puss in boots!!

  • no tintin? rio? arthur christmas? and am i the only one who enjoyed cars 2? tintin is getting shafted i mean it lost to the chipmunk movie the whole time it was in theatres. and arthur christmas should be on there. i remember critics and audiences praised the film. same goes for rio! however cars 2 is understandable because i'm pretty sure a lot of people think mater is really annoying but besides that cars 2 was great in my opinion and mater didn't bother me.

  • Cat in Paris. Its one of the few movies that still remind us that Animation used to be an art.

  • The only award that Kung-Fu-Panda or Rango even have a chance of winning is comedy. They're both stupid. The first two on the list, i have no idea what they are... and Puss in Boots is a little confusing or stupid at times, but at least it is not as stupid as Rango or Kung-fu- Panda. Not to mention its awsome voice cast and epic story line. Puss in Boots is going to win.

  • Rango

  • We should have YouTube Oscars for best videos of the year :)

  • Kung fu panda or Rango should win!

  • any chance we can get a retroactive nom for Triplets of Beilville

  • i believe Winnie the Pooh and Tintin should definitely been nominated!!

  • Rangoooooooo

  • Rango, not only because its awesome, but its extremely fun to say.

  • Kung Fu Panda 2~

  • OK, this time I have actually seen one of the movies nominated in this category. :D

In my humble opinion, Rango is FREAKING BRILLIANT!! I rank it above some live action movies I've seen. But not only does the story have depth and heart, The animation, although quirky, is down right beautiful in it's own way. I hope that a sequel is in the works. :)

  • "Even the original cars"!? whats wrong with people? the original cars is fantastic.

  • "high profile CATegories"? funny Grace, funny

  • It should be Tintin! It was truely Epic.

  • Chico and Rita should win, it left the strongest impression on me. No other animated film comes close.

  • @moeezS your definitly right!

  • Puss in Boots gets on the list but not Cars 2? While both movies don't have a lot of depth to them, Puss in Boots is a freaking copy and paste of a different movie and people have the audacity to say shit about Cars 2 and praise Puss?

  • Kung Fu Panda was pretty good. I tried to watch Rango and got bored.

  • I liked Cars 2 and I feel I'm the only one... XP

  • @PJOLOVERgurl Your not the only one, I loved Cars 2. The first Cars was my favorite Pixar movie. While it may not be emotional as the other films, it is still a fun, well made movie.

  • 3:18

I know thats Kathryn Beaumont playing Alice in Wonderland

but what scene is she doing?

  • Kung Fu Panda 2 deserves an Oscar!

  • Rango deserves that award.

  • So glad frickin Cars 2 didn't get nominated. Hope Rango takes it home!

  • Rango best of these

  • Kung Fu panda

  • rango for best movie!

  • not seen any but i've got a feeling Rango could take it

  • I have seen none of these movies, but as a huge fan of the medium, would love to see them all. I'm just happy to see 5 animated films (instead of the usual 3 they had in the past) get nominated in the motion-picture animated category.

  • It will be interesting to see what this year's Animated Award will do to Dreamworks, because it has not only two films in the running, but two sequels at that. And most likely they still won't win as the competition of Rango and two excellent foreign films will likely push their work out. Animation giant Pixar may not be in the race, but that in no way means that Dreamworks will take the cake easily. Viva la French animation!

  • If Rango doesn't win there is something wrong with the universe

  • @MrJaffa2015 They didn't count it because it's technically not animation by their standards. Tin Tin was filmed using motion capture and then animated.

  • I hope Rango wins.

  • I would say tin tin, but that sadly isn't on the list. Rango then..

  • Rango

  • rANGO I GUESS WHO WIN OSCAR ANIMATED FILM

  • for me it's either Chico and Rita, or Rango.

  • Also, claiming that animated movies aren't getting any better is a little harsh. Many of the animated movies that came out this year were better than some of the boring movies nominated for best picture.

  • Using reference has always been a part of animation. Rango had more going for it than just Johnny Depp's personality. I don't think it's hypocritical at all to nominate Rango, since it was a fantastic movie that didn't even use motion capture.

  • TINTIN WHERE ARE YOU

  • How come Anime isnt anywhere in this.

    They have amazing animated movies.

Grace, do for some reason Anime (Japanese Animation/Asian Animation) not count?

Btw on your other channel talk about the Marvel Anime X-Men its got a really cool ending and you can talk about it from the perspective of a comic book fan. :3

  • @DanielDanteThe2nd

No, Animé are not barred from the awards, it is just heavily ignored. Spirited Away won oscars, but in all honesty, Animé has it's own awards that are more prestigious than the Oscars are. These awards are judged by industry professionals who know what they are talking about when it comes to Animé.

  • @Bushflare Thanks that clears up a lot.

I salute you mister knowledge =3 (I am not being sarcastic).

Do you by any chance know what these awards are called?

  • @DanielDanteThe2nd

There's a load of them. Lots with japanese names and 50 syllables xD

  • Is it sad that I thought "Derp" when I saw Chico and Rita's director.

  • rango and tin tin are really good

  • I was not a fan of Rango, and Puss and Boots was pretty cool, haven't seen kung fu panda 2 yet, but what purpose do these awards serve anyways? Who votes for these things? then industry needs to get more creative, and i think part two movies should be direct to video, if it doesn't have a solid leg to stand on! Disney never use to produce continuations of animated films, were did their creativity go? so many more fairy tales they could do, or create their own story for a change.

  • @discoqueendivas

1: Pixar is not Disney, they operate entirely autonomously and do not accept scripts from outside their staff.

2: KFP2 HAD to be seen on a Cinéma screen. It was a great display of 3D work and, despite being weaker than it's predecessor, it still payed a great deal of homage to the old Kung-Fu movie era.

3: Puss in Boots should win. It is an unique experience, the likes I've never seen before. The entire time it was like watching a fairy tail and not watching a movie.

    PiB > Shrek

  • @BeyondTheTrailer Hey Grace have you notice about spanish director eyes what happen to him?

  • @youpizza08

He fell out of the genius tree and hit every branch on the way down. He just hit them with his face.

  • Kung Fu panda 2 easily

  • None of them! Where is RIO!!! xD

  • @KpopManiacSFL

Story wasn't as strong as the other films.

  • @Bushflare Rango's story-line is a regurgitation of same unknown hero saves a town. It's literally in ALL kid shows. Remember Flushed Away? Ratatouille? etc Kids, i work with kids at community centres, were bored and uninterested in Rango. The graphic reminded of a past that many weren't born in and the story-line a copy of other shows, stories, shows etc. Puss in Boot if anything should win, fairy tales are stories invincible to repetition, probably because 'original' movies should be original

  • @KpopManiacSFL

I've made my view on PiB clear elsewhere on this forum and I like it for different reasons than you seem to. However I must disagree with your interpretation of originality. Nothing we ever make can be truly original because they are all fed at least partially from other works we've seen, however what should be lauded is the ability to take something that has already existed and steal it as your own. Make the old look new, make the new look fantastic and make that look magnificent
