I'm pretty sure any unrunnable battle also will not run from you, unless we're counting using Fear on the NES version with great luck.

You could just do this on the Piscodemon or Evil Eye spiked squares.

Purple worm has a defense of 10, that's 6 points lower than the defense piscodemons have.Evil eye has even more, 30!!

Only very few enemies have less defense than him.And it won't change much if I do it on a monster that has 4 points less defense.
