I do agree making your own sponge will taste better but this is a great way to present something nice that does not take to long to make.

Maybe next year I will make this again but make the sponge :)

I am not sure of the manufacture. I think at the time my priority was to find long chocolate rolls. The make does not really matter, just get ones that are long enough to chop and make into a yule log

The green thing I put on was holly, not that fancy but OK for Christmas.

I am not sure of the occasion you are thinking about "Christmas, birthday, Thanksgiving", Probably the best thing is to look on the Internet or your local cake shop and search for 'cake decorations' I am sure there is a huge range.

If it’s for Christmas and you like the holly, look for a bigger size than I have as my holly was too small for the log!

i was getting worried for you cos your cake was looking rather messy. But then the icing sugar changed all that. It looks presentable enuf for guests after that. About the ready made choc rolls - too much sugar and preservatives in them. Won't be touching them for sure. Thanks for the vid.

I agree, if you are watching the vid, its not until I added the icing sugar before it all looked good.

Obviousley you can make your own choc rolls, it just takes more time and this was done to show a quick recipe.
