These books: Michael Parenti- Friendly Feudalism:The Tibet Myth, A. Tom Grunfeld- "The Making of Modern Tibet" and Anna Louise Strong- "Tibetan Interviews" describe how Buddhist Tibet ran a medieval feudal regime that brutally exploited and suppressed the people of Tibet. 5 % of Tibetans were slaves and the rest were serfs. The monks said you were a serf because of your 'Karma' so tough luck! Most Tibetans lived in a nightmare horror under Buddhism. Google those books to find out the truth.
Yeah let us worship stupid statues of fat old men! Bollox. Nobody needs you stupid shit in the modern world so Buddists, Henshits, Janes and seeks go back to your caves and worship your cows, monkeys, rats and all that bollox.
I guess, you try to be a modern thinking 21st citizen?
Unfortunately your simple "good vs. evil" thinking and your lack of tolerance let you more sound like someone from the dark ages of the mediaeval times.
So you disqualified yourself as a serious dialogue partne.
@DigitalKeiko 'Good v Evil' and "dark ages of the mediaeval times". I think you are describing Buddhism. Before the Communists threw these bums out of Tibet they used to run and old man theocracy right out of the middle ages. They taxed the peasants to pay for 'exorcism' and if the peasants didn't pay they were thrown into the prison under the monastery where they were often tortured. Medieval? Stop watching the Hollywood version of Buddhism, it is just another medieval racket.
As I said I will not discuss you with that. Just let me tell you that not all western Buddhists are "Tibet hipsters" (but there are a lot, that's true) and some of them are very critic about their believes and practices.
I just don't like it when somebody is generalising a complex thematics like religions into a simple "good modern science against all old religions" thing.
That's all, thank you for your input. For me, the discussion is over now :)
At 2:24, it says that the Buddha himself taught that seekers of enlightenment should visit the site of his birth, as well as 3 other sites. I find that confusing and a little shocking. I thought that Buddha de-emphasized his own personal importance and urged Buddhists to focus on their own investigation and on the substance of his teachings. Why would he suggest that the place of his birth holds some sort of magical quality that would help bring enlightenment?
You know what? I think that B-Man meant it for you to visit the place of YOUR birth, YOUR enlightenment, YOUR etc....imo that makes more sense not just for him to say but to gain insight into the cycle of birth and death. It may have been poorly interpreted by the monks
I would disagree with coffeebuzz, christianity has no mean past, roman catholicism however does, remember rome burned christians whom would not submit to romes unbiblical teaching nor serve its popes,
Id rather have the world infected with Buddhists then the hate filled religion thats sweeping across the third world nations atm, but its easier to destroy then to build...
The third world? What about exreme Christians in the West? There is no difference between Islam and Christianity. Both have horrendous pasts, presents and, by the look of things, futures.
Sorry I have to say t hat there is a difference between most fundie Christians. Never heard a mainstream Baptist leader calling for the death of gay men and lesbians. Yet gay people are routinely imprisoned and even executed in Muslim countries.
Look at the New World Order symbols at the start - the Dark Angel with his back to the Light (Lucifer) and a pyramid with a star of David. Golden idols, temples to idols and the old myth of Buddhist 'enlightenment' make a slightly less sickening cocktail than the last few weeks of 'Manmade Global Warming' crap from Journeyman. Yippee, let's worships a lump of goldleaf covered clay!
Hahaha...foolish words of an ignorant miscreant. How can you know, that of which you speak, without experience? As it would appear that you have little.
