These books: Michael Parenti- Friendly Feudalism:The Tibet Myth, A. Tom Grunfeld- "The Making of Modern Tibet" and Anna Louise Strong- "Tibetan Interviews" describe how Buddhist Tibet ran a medieval feudal regime that brutally exploited and suppressed the people of Tibet. 5 % of Tibetans were slaves and the rest were serfs. The monks said you were a serf because of your 'Karma' so tough luck! Most Tibetans lived in a nightmare horror under Buddhism. Google those books to find out the truth.

Before the Communists threw these bums out of Tibet they used to run and old man theocracy right out of the middle ages. They taxed the peasants to pay for 'exorcism' and if the peasants didn't pay they were thrown into the prison under the monastery where they were often tortured. Medieval? Stop watching the Hollywood version of Buddhism, it is just another medieval racket.

As I said I will not discuss you with that. Just let me tell you that not all western Buddhists are "Tibet hipsters" (but there are a lot, that's true) and some of them are very critic about their believes and practices.

I just don't like it when somebody is generalising a complex thematics like religions into a simple "good modern science against all old religions" thing.

At 2:24, it says that the Buddha himself taught that seekers of enlightenment should visit the site of his birth, as well as 3 other sites. I find that confusing and a little shocking. I thought that Buddha de-emphasized his own personal importance and urged Buddhists to focus on their own investigation and on the substance of his teachings. Why would he suggest that the place of his birth holds some sort of magical quality that would help bring enlightenment?

Sorry I have to say t hat there is a difference between most fundie Christians. Never heard a mainstream Baptist leader calling for the death of gay men and lesbians. Yet gay people are routinely imprisoned and even executed in Muslim countries.
