As analysis of the human condition, primitivism is as convincing as anything I know of - but I havent heard much that convinces me it is a practical option, except as a dimension of change, a dynamic in forging ways forward, or the end result of unlooked for disaster. Possibly it could be called "spiritual" , but that is not to denigrate it . Why did the Church fear Darwin? Because he opened the door to a primitivist type perspective on why we feel empty, alienated, always dissatisfied...

There is that element of fascism in primitivism but we're talking anarcho-primitivism here. It's a critique of power that is interwoven to a critique of civilization/domestication. I identify with the critique although I have come across individuals who cynically use it to promote attitudes which are directly contrary to the spirit of anarchism. I have to say, however, that I mostly see fascism in pro-civilization ecologists. Think about Pentti Linkola and his ilk, for instance.

I must add that there is no ideology that is immune to fascism. The history of leftism is basically a history of totalitarian oppression, implemented in the name of freedom and equality.
