Ik wil ook van je vra: In South Africa we have another word for Mandarin, "Naartjie" I don't suppose the Dutch would know what we were saying if we asked, "Kan Ek 'n sak van naartjies koop?" It just sounds very Dutch so I was wondering if there is such a word or it would sound like a make up Dutch word lol
Naw Dutch isn't hard to learn at all. But I live in South Africa where I learnt Afrikaans (Very simular to Dutch, most Dutch people consider it a dilect) where the vast majority of the words are the same or very simlar, with differences in spelling and pronuciation. The thing is that I actually find Dutch easier to learn than Afrikaans, ironic? Prehaps. For example you could say, "Ik jou van jou en ik wil je lichaam op de bank met mij now!" to your Afrikaans lover and they'd understand you.
Well you forgot one: Vietnamese. This is harder than French since Vietnamese has more than 4 or 5 (I can't remember all!) voices and mostly each words has a lot of meanings, also the adverbs when you talk with each other are also different since we don't call a 20 man "he" or the same to woman "she" or a kid "he",..very complicated. Anyway my best pal is from Dutch so I wanna learn some Dutch so I can speak to him easier. I must say ericos your lessons are outstanding! Dankjewel Ericos!
@Gojam12 dutch is one of those hard languages to learn like korean, chinese, japanese and mandarin lol i live in the netherlands and im fluent at it thats becuz ive lived here my whole life :P
Just for the dutch numbers, when dutch people say eighty eight in dutch we flip the numbers around so we would eight eighty or acht(8) en tachtig(80).
A really good Dutch singing band is Blof. When you enter "Blof lyrics" in youtube, you get many videos including lyrics.
But most of the bands sing in English. There are some great Dutch singing singers. You could look for Guus Meeuwis or maybe Marco Borsato. That are the biggest ones I guess.
@azulrojoanaranjado De Kast (some of their songs are Frysian though), Van Dikhout, Bløf, Acda en de Munnik, Doe Maar... to name a few. Singers: Marco Borsato, Frans Bauer, Jan Smit, Guus Meeuwis, Andre Hazes.... Rap/Hip Hop: Brainpower, Extince, The Opposites... Just from the top of my head now =)
well i'm brazilian, and i speak fluently:french, spanish, german, italian, finnish, english, portuguese and DUTCH cuz i am dutch too :-)so what do u say?wil je spaans met me leren???
I love the Dutch language... I met someone from the Netherlands who is now my boyfriend ^___^ When he comes to visit me I'd love to be able to tell him he's handsome... so, that would be nice to know
Flemish people have a really different pronouncing and using some other words than in The Netherlands, but we totally can understand eachother. It's not that different from eachother. =]
hallo! well i just watched all of your language videos and i'd like to say...dankjewel! i'll be moving to nl this august and yes, i have to learn this language eventually, so this was a great start. i tried to watch other dutch language vids and i nearly fell asleep lol. okay...so...just some more useful words/phrases i'd like to know (an d this is just the beginning lol)
lets start with some body parts...head to toe, i'd like to learn those
OMG! I made such a stupid fault in my video (part 1). It has to be 'JIJ HELPT HEEL VEEL'!!! To Help = Helpen, (Jij hebt = You have)... OMG! LOL! Sorry..

I was wondering if its possible to make a instalment video of how to have a conversation and to respond to a conversation.
Like a casual conversation, between subject a and subject b (friends).
Kirirath 3 years ago
Also, how start a conversation, how to ask questions and how to react to different environments.
A few examples would be:
- Shopping
- Going Cinema
- Travel Train/Buses
- Buying food/Prices
Thank you.
Cheers
