Let's Learn Dutch! (Lesson #3 - Part 2)

Ik wil ook van je vra: In South Africa we have another word for Mandarin, "Naartjie" I don't suppose the Dutch would know what we were saying if we asked, "Kan Ek 'n sak van naartjies koop?" It just sounds very Dutch so I was wondering if there is such a word or it would sound like a make up Dutch word lol

Naw Dutch isn't hard to learn at all. But I live in South Africa where I learnt Afrikaans (Very simular to Dutch, most Dutch people consider it a dilect) where the vast majority of the words are the same or very simlar, with differences in spelling and pronuciation. The thing is that I actually find Dutch easier to learn than Afrikaans, ironic? Prehaps. For example you could say, "Ik jou van jou en ik wil je lichaam op de bank met mij now!" to your Afrikaans lover and they'd understand you.

Well you forgot one: Vietnamese. This is harder than French since Vietnamese has more than 4 or 5 (I can't remember all!) voices and mostly each words has a lot of meanings, also the adverbs when you talk with each other are also different since we don't call a 20 man "he" or the same to woman "she" or a kid "he",..very complicated. Anyway my best pal is from Dutch so I wanna learn some Dutch so I can speak to him easier. I must say ericos your lessons are outstanding! Dankjewel Ericos!

Just for the dutch numbers, when dutch people say eighty eight in dutch we flip the numbers around so we would eight eighty or acht(8) en tachtig(80).

A really good Dutch singing band is Blof. When you enter "Blof lyrics" in youtube, you get many videos including lyrics.

But most of the bands sing in English. There are some great Dutch singing singers. You could look for Guus Meeuwis or maybe Marco Borsato. That are the biggest ones I guess.

Flemish people have a really different pronouncing and using some other words than in The Netherlands, but we totally can understand eachother. It's not that different from eachother. =]
