Hopefully Beaux Barfield will keep the pits open under yellow as well as allow the drivers to "block" and use the local yellow more on road courses. Oh yeah and please no B.S. debris cautions. I dont want to sound negative because I LOVE indycar, just a few suggestions that I think will make indycar even better.

One thing that bugs me was Marco Andretti and Sebastian Bourdais crash in the pits under yellow. The reason why a full course caution is put out is to keep the track and drivers safe. But what I dont understand is why Indycar closes the pits when the yellow comes out and bunches everyone up before they pit. It makes pit road a dangerous place for the drivers and crew members. They should leave the pits open and have a speed limit that the cars must maintain.

I'm so excited for this years Grand Prix 2012. Its such an awesome atmosphere. Bad ass cars, beer, food, People, and the BEAUTIFUL city of Long Beach, CA. God I love my City.

Shame they don't show at least the non-oval races over here. I know most of us would fall asleep during the oval ones but I've always liked the proper race track ones.

And we gotta those spinny camera things on f1 that would cool.

@Kenny414G There are barely ever any passes? Have you seen any F1 race this season? There is a lot of a action going on. Indycar was once at the same level as Formula 1 one but today it is far away from it.

Same cars, same engines for everybody, stupid pit and blocking rules took every glory!

@kilat83 Nah, they are smart and find good ways to have REAL racing instead of thinking about easy gimmicks that u see in F1. Did you see F1 engineers don't want to work on bringing the ground efect back? Oh but for u they are very good, aren't they? :)

In 2013, US GP is coming to Texas and IndyCar will soon follow to that track. It will be interesting to see F1 and IndyCars racing at the same track. It will show which is more fun to watch.

Eventful race, but generally I think IndyCar is but a shadow of its former self. The cars are the buses of the single seater world and it just lacks the magic that so sadly died, I think, at the end of the 2000 season.

@fordfocusonme Jimmie Johnson is the greatest champion in motor-sports right now and im not even a fan of his. I felt the same way you did, how he won championship after championship. I realized you have to respect someone who does that because its never been done before.

@Lights0ut1109 Wrong, he's won 5 10-race seasons, he would have 2 championships under the old (or as I like to call it, true racing system) system. Jeff Gordon, Carl Edwards, and Kevin Harvick would've won the the other titles. Don't get me wrong, Johnson is a hell of a driver (although Chad Knaus is a huge help), but 3 of his titles are 10-race mini-seasons.

Indycar sucks. F1 is better. But Nascar is better than F1. And Danica is overrated. Can only compete with fuel strategy, but I guess that's part of racing.

@fordfocusonme every racing sport has that...F1 it was Schumacher, NASCAR it's Johnson, Rally its Loeb...so each one has it's person who dominates for a stretch...but trends break in time.

This was a great race but imo the general standard of driving is way down on what you will find in f1 - most of these drivers aspire to be in f1 but cant or wont ever make it-however it makes for a great alternative that promotes very close racing...heres hoping the rest of the season continues like this!

Funny that Danica has had incidents in all 3 races (with Ana Beatriz at St. Pete, where she broke her front wing and possibly lost a top 10 finish, and with Conway at Barber and Viso at Long Beach, where both Conway and Viso retired because of the incident), but she STILL has 0 DNFs since March 2009!!! That car is made of FREAKING STEEL, it just CAN'T FREAKING BREAK!!!

Always love Long Beach, the best street circuit in NA and the stands looked packed! But the restarts were complete bs and the fact the Barnhart is playing favorites (penalizing Tracy and others while giving Castroneves 2 free passes) is pissing me off..something needs to be done here... congratulations to Conway, seeing him passing Briscoe for the lead actually made me jump up and down for the first time while watching and indycar race in a long time.

It may have been exciting but I have to say that it looked more like an Indy Lights race with guys just driving all over the top of each other. Nothing like Barber in Alabama where most of the drivers actually seemed in control of their cars! Congrats to Conway, who would have thought it? Great story there coming into Indy...

@Willbrse not like indy cars dont have push to pass.

2 years ago at long beach there was 1 overtake for position the entire race. Indy cars have full course cautions, rolling (re)starts, and drivers are not even allowed to drive defencively...Indy is plagued with problems and artificial rules, hopefully the 2012 cars can get us back to the good old racing from CART in the 90's

2010 f1 season was on of the best seasons. they dont make DRS because f1 is starting to get boring, they made it to increase the excitement and give the trailing car advantage of increased top speed to negate dirty air.

If you find mono-car racing exciting, you should watch GP2, not F1. Indy is interesting because it's ONLY about drivers skill / luck.

F1 is interesting because there are 12 different cars brands/engines, aerodynamics, strategies, pilots, personalities, but above all, fandom.

@nintendolad this was actually more exciting than the Chinese GP, even though that was by far the best F1 race of the season. This was by far the best Indycar race of the season.... but I found the first two F1 races more exciting than the first two Indycar races.

Great race!! Though, I have to disagree with the penalization of Paul Tracy. As much of a complete ass I think Paul Tracy is, penalizing him for the contact with Simona was wrong considering Helio did the same thing numerous times (including Helio doing the EXACT SAME with Wilson.) A goof I think. However, a fantastic race nonetheless. I enjoyed Versus catching a couple F-bombs in the Bourdais/Andretti incident. Was a lot of fun to watch. Congrats to Mike on a well earned first win!
