depends where your from, hes highlandish. in the NE (aberdeenish area) ;D we tend to -a- at the end of those words instead of -ae- cant becomes canna, dont becomes da, but we still use couldnae and wouldnae.. i canna mind, my accents a bit fucked up cause my mothers english :L

You can write it if you are writing in Scots (not the modern English you see here in these videos. This guy is speaking modern English with an accent and some dialect words thrown in - he isn't speaking Scots. Nobody does any more). Robert Burns wrote "canna", and so did other poets (eg. Ramsay or Ferguson) who wrote in "Dialect Scots"

Oh! Hey! I have a great idea for another lesson. The way I learn accents is through written phonetics. It would be a great help if you could spell the words as they sound in the scottish accent so that a person could read them and get the accent at least almost right. Maybe you could do that with a few commonly miss-pronounced words.
