@LadyLockets In my music it doesn't appear to change key...I checked the piano part too, although I'm very rusty at music theory. The cello part doesn't change, there's just a section with lots of accidentals
nice to know you're interested too! please see my reply above.. i hope you'll be able to study/play this one day! if you can play rolling left-hand arpeggios, then this arr.'s probably not too difficult. & the polyrhythms..well, they could always be simplified.. all the best!!
i'm sorry, it's not available at present. i hope, in the future, to make this & my other arr.s available.. i'd be very happy for you to play this someday! .. all the best!!
Very lovely, I like your transcription and your playing very much, I wish I had your expertise. I agree with didondio and lovewxt. But you shouldn't take our comments too seriously: the recording quality may alter the music (specially if basses are enhanced vis a vis the rest) and in any way the youtube sound is probably not representative of your real performance.
i can't disagree with you & didondio & lovewxt.. honestly, i'm just grateful that i had access to a piano (not the best; not the worst) & camcorder; that i was able to video my arr. & share it here; & that it came across (at least) well enough for you & didondio & lovewxt to like it.. thanks very much for your kind words & understanding!
haha (⌒▽⌒) .. i wondered if someone might make that comparison! .. no, i don't think i was inspired by Chopin's "Andante spianato", but in the process of creating a rolling left hand figuration that would fit "The Swan"'s
right hand melody, i couldn't help noticing that the basic l.h. figuration of my arr. was similar (though not identical) to the basic l.h. figuration of the "Andante spianato". so i guess you could say, "good match" .. thanks very much for your question! :-)
thanks so much for your kind & encouraging words! i'm glad you like it! .. i'd be happy (at some point) to focus on (select) Gershwin tunes.. once again, all the best to you & your family!!
wonderful sci-fi time travel movie! .. funny you should request "s. i. t.", coz i've been thinking of rearranging (i did a so-so arr. a while back) & playing it again. now's not the best time (i'm a little preoccupied with other songs), but i intend to spend some time with "s. i. t."; & if i'm happy with the result, i'll video & post it.. thanks!

WOW!That was the most beautiful piano piece i've ever heard i believe. It makes me want to give up my sinful ways, and now i start to question if the pipe organ is truly the king of instruments. Words just cannot express the emotion stirred. Simply wonderful!
Thanks so much for your very kind & encouraging - & interesting - comment! .. To those who love, or are curious about, the "King of instruments" (as Mozart called it), I heartily recommend your videos on your channel! .. All the best!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! .. While I've never felt the piano to be superior to other instruments in conveying deep emotions, I'd certainly agree it's extremely well-suited to doing so.. All the best!!
Oh My God, I was week o my knee listening to this song. Bravo...bravo,Gordon...
MUSIC IS MELODY IN MY LIFE...If I am sad,or Happy, a good music moved me to tears. When you are playing piano, you are owned the stage,as if you and yr piano is 1 soul.
Not bad, but I`d say that there are some notes that are not in the original. I myslef have played this piece and really enjoy it. Nevertheless you`ve done an excellent job. Maybe if only you changed a little bit the end, just to sound like the original swan by Saint-Saens...
Yes, there are some notes that are not in the original. Please keep in mind, though, that my arr. is just that, an arr. - not the original. At one point, just before the return of the main theme, I add some dissonant cross-rhythm clusters (to enhance the texture & rising emotional intensity). Could these be the added notes you're referring to?
2) I love the ending of the original, with its delicate & tinkly cascading figurations. But I think the simple ending to my arr. - a natural outgrowth of what's gone before - suits my arr. much better than those tinkly figurations would. So to you, & to any others for whom 'The Swan' is simply not 'The Swan' without those tinkly figurations at the end, & who judge any arr. that doesn't incorporate them to be lacking, I offer, along with the above explanation, my most humble apologies.
I agree, Saint-Saens' 'Le Cygne' is a really beautiful piece. If it, as I've arranged & perform it here, touches your heart, I'm very grateful. Thank you!
The piece is allready beautiful by itself, but this arrangement puts it to an even higher level.. very well played !! Can you tell me if it's available for purchase, and if so by which title and order number?
I'm glad you like my arr. enough to want to purchase it. It's not available at the moment, but if there's enough interest, I'll try either to get my arr.s (including this one) published, or to publish them myself. If you like, I can notify you when this arr. is available.....Probably won't be for a while, though.

A bit mechanical and lifeless. Although used as music for a poor old dying swan, it doesn't mean that the bird hasn't got some life left in him, nor is the swan leaving us without trying to tell us the part it played in God's world - the death of the swan takes all of us ... with it.
Wow i love this song, i heard it for the first time performed live by Natalie Sherer a pianist at the Manhattan school of music and it has such a elegant, graceful, and Grand sound to it. You played it no less than wonderful!!
Hi Gordon, you played beautifully. I can imagine a swan sliding beautifully across a lake, across its perfectly still water surface. The whole thing gives a picture of serenity, calmness, a feeling of going back to nature.Very poetic as well.
I am a self taught pianist and is currently trying to learn this piece. You are an inspiration to me, and I am sure, many others as well.

A flawless piano performance nurtured with Gordon's passion of playing. He seems to dance with the music while playing it. Saint-Saens (La Cigne) is a delicate piece which soothes the senses of those who listen to it, and the arrangement he has made for a solo piano performance is outstanding. He leaves a special spark of glamour and sense of wellbeing in the atmosphere. Come and see him alive. Congrats, Gordon & Cheers! Lucí
I can't answer that so easily (sorry), coz there are too many variables... This piano is what this church has got, & I'm just grateful to be allowed to come in & play it sometimes.
