  • I see you at Don Mills station all the time, cool stuff

  • love it

  • I know it's in G Major, but can you tell me what key it modulates into in the middle section? I can't figure it out.

  • @LadyLockets In my music it doesn't appear to change key...I checked the piano part too, although I'm very rusty at music theory. The cello part doesn't change, there's just a section with lots of accidentals

  • fabulous. truly wondrous...

  • Splendid !

  • Glorious, absolutely GLORIOUS. I love your username "loosewrists1" - it is so apt. :-)

  • Lovely flowing arrangement ! Beautiful performance !

Thank you so much for sharing all your lovely piano pieces & your creativity!

Are you working on any Chinese piece currently?

  • Me gustaría escuchar esta cancion debajo de un arbol en Otoño, viendo lentamente caer las hojas secas

  • Ok, I like this song... But its been pissin me off because it reminds me of the ending of a video game or so and I can't think of which one >:( haha

  • so great!

  • amazing!!!

  • thanks! :)

  • did u arrange this piece?

  • yes.

  • nice!

    :D

  • Are you selling the music for this lovely arrangement. I would just love to play it.

  • me too, would love to study your version with my piano teacher, not sure I'll manage to play it though...

  • nice to know you're interested too! please see my reply above.. i hope you'll be able to study/play this one day! if you can play rolling left-hand arpeggios, then this arr.'s probably not too difficult. & the polyrhythms..well, they could always be simplified.. all the best!!

  • i'm sorry, it's not available at present. i hope, in the future, to make this & my other arr.s available.. i'd be very happy for you to play this someday! .. all the best!!

  • Really beautiful and played with such feeling. Just love it

    Simone

  • thanks so much! i'm glad you like it!

  • thank you!

  • Very lovely, I like your transcription and your playing very much, I wish I had your expertise. I agree with didondio and lovewxt. But you shouldn't take our comments too seriously: the recording quality may alter the music (specially if basses are enhanced vis a vis the rest) and in any way the youtube sound is probably not representative of your real performance.

  • i can't disagree with you & didondio & lovewxt.. honestly, i'm just grateful that i had access to a piano (not the best; not the worst) & camcorder; that i was able to video my arr. & share it here; & that it came across (at least) well enough for you & didondio & lovewxt to like it.. thanks very much for your kind words & understanding!

  • I like it,but the chords in the right hand make it a bit loud and strong it should be softer.

  • i understand - & appreciate - your comment. all in all, i'm glad you like it!

  • You really have a warm piano sound, I like it! In your left hand arrangement, have you been inspired by Chopins "Andante spianato"? Good match.

  • haha (⌒▽⌒) .. i wondered if someone might make that comparison! .. no, i don't think i was inspired by Chopin's "Andante spianato", but in the process of creating a rolling left hand figuration that would fit "The Swan"'s

right hand melody, i couldn't help noticing that the basic l.h. figuration of my arr. was similar (though not identical) to the basic l.h. figuration of the "Andante spianato". so i guess you could say, "good match" .. thanks very much for your question! :-)

  • wow its amazing very calming, the composer of this got it exactly right . very well played.

  • Saint-Saens was such a wonderful composer.. glad you like my arr. & rendition. thank you!

  • Is that possible your left hand get a bit more quite? So the right hand's theme could come out a bit more!

But All in all i like your compose !!!

  • yes, it's possible!

i'm glad that all in all you like my arr.. :D

  • This one, as is "Rose Rose I Love You" is also beautiful. Hope you'll post a Gerswhin montage when you have time! You're an incredibly talented man!

  • thanks so much for your kind & encouraging words! i'm glad you like it! .. i'd be happy (at some point) to focus on (select) Gershwin tunes.. once again, all the best to you & your family!!

  • mmmmmmwah!

  • :o)

  • can you play the somewhere in time for me? thanks.. :)

  • wonderful sci-fi time travel movie! .. funny you should request "s. i. t.", coz i've been thinking of rearranging (i did a so-so arr. a while back) & playing it again. now's not the best time (i'm a little preoccupied with other songs), but i intend to spend some time with "s. i. t."; & if i'm happy with the result, i'll video & post it.. thanks!

  • oops! make that "wonderful sci-fi time travel romance movie!"

  • you are really great!

  • that's extremely debatable, but i'm glad you like it. thank you!

  • hi, its so nice to hear your music. and the song arrangement is really good. No wonder a lot of people likes it and are interested. Well, Always keep your passion for music alive.

  • i'm glad you like the music/arr.. it's truly heartening that some people like it & are interested.. thanks so much for your kind & encouraging words!

  • I'd also like to get the transcription of the arranged piano version. :) thank you sir

  • maraming salamat po! .. i'm equally grateful for your interest in obtaining the sheet music.. (two similar enquiries in one day?! that's a first. if this keeps up, i won't have any choice but to learn that music notation program, & to make the arr. available online.) .. all the best!!

  • Ahaha! You know how to speak Tagalog? That's great. :)

    You're welcome friend. :D

  • i know some words & phrases, but hope to learn more.. once again, thank you for your interest, kaibigan ko. :D

  • hey! winderfull song! do you have the sheet music ready? i would love to play it also...

  • I just love your arrangement and playing. Let me know when you have the transcription ready.

  • thanks so much! .. when i'm ready, i'll gladly notify you & anyone else who's enquired about obtaining the sheet music to this or that transcription / arr.. all the best!!

  • do you have the music piece for this?? if you do can you send it to me

  • it exists only in my own chicken scratch handwriting(; i've been meaning to learn a music notation program). i'm just not ready to share my transcriptions / arr.s; but i'd be glad to let you (& anyone else) know when i am.. if you have a moment, please see, among the comments on my '玫瑰玫瑰我爱你 Rose Rose I Love You' video, my reply to Stan regarding making my transcriptions / arr.s available..

thanks so much for your kind & encouraging words!!

  • i love this piece!! That was nicely played!! I enjoyed it alot, thankyou!!

  • thanks so much!! i'm really happy you enjoyed it!! :D

  • Hi, that was sooo good ! I'm currently learning that song now in Grade 3 and I think its a nice sweet song to play! Good job

  • Thanks so much! I agree, it's nice & sweet to play.

I wish you much enjoyment playing it! :)

  • hey im learning that piece but in easy version...grade 4....its an exellent piece and your very good at playing the piece =P

  • thanks! i agree, 'The Swan' is an excellent piece.

i wish you much enjoyment playing it! =b

  • WOW!That was the most beautiful piano piece i've ever heard i believe. It makes me want to give up my sinful ways, and now i start to question if the pipe organ is truly the king of instruments. Words just cannot express the emotion stirred. Simply wonderful!

  • Thanks so much for your very kind & encouraging - & interesting - comment! .. To those who love, or are curious about, the "King of instruments" (as Mozart called it), I heartily recommend your videos on your channel! .. All the best!!

  • Beautiful arr and performance, this shows that there are no other musical instrument that can translate your most inner feelings than the piano

  • Thank you so much for your kind words! .. While I've never felt the piano to be superior to other instruments in conveying deep emotions, I'd certainly agree it's extremely well-suited to doing so.. All the best!!

  • Oh My God, I was week o my knee listening to this song. Bravo...bravo,Gordon...

MUSIC IS MELODY IN MY LIFE...If I am sad,or Happy, a good music moved me to tears. When you are playing piano, you are owned the stage,as if you and yr piano is 1 soul.

  • Thanks so much, chpflwr, for your extremely kind & encouraging words! They mean more to me than I can say...

May there be beautiful melody in your life always! All the best!!

  • Not bad, but I`d say that there are some notes that are not in the original. I myslef have played this piece and really enjoy it. Nevertheless you`ve done an excellent job. Maybe if only you changed a little bit the end, just to sound like the original swan by Saint-Saens...

  • 1) Thanks for your mostly favourable comment!

Yes, there are some notes that are not in the original. Please keep in mind, though, that my arr. is just that, an arr. - not the original. At one point, just before the return of the main theme, I add some dissonant cross-rhythm clusters (to enhance the texture & rising emotional intensity). Could these be the added notes you're referring to?

  • 2) I love the ending of the original, with its delicate & tinkly cascading figurations. But I think the simple ending to my arr. - a natural outgrowth of what's gone before - suits my arr. much better than those tinkly figurations would. So to you, & to any others for whom 'The Swan' is simply not 'The Swan' without those tinkly figurations at the end, & who judge any arr. that doesn't incorporate them to be lacking, I offer, along with the above explanation, my most humble apologies.

  • I'm not musically talented but its really a beautiful piece...i don't know how to put it but it touches my heart lol. sounds weird.

  • I agree, Saint-Saens' 'Le Cygne' is a really beautiful piece. If it, as I've arranged & perform it here, touches your heart, I'm very grateful. Thank you!

  • The piece is allready beautiful by itself, but this arrangement puts it to an even higher level.. very well played !! Can you tell me if it's available for purchase, and if so by which title and order number?

  • Thank you for your extremely kind words!

I'm glad you like my arr. enough to want to purchase it. It's not available at the moment, but if there's enough interest, I'll try either to get my arr.s (including this one) published, or to publish them myself. If you like, I can notify you when this arr. is available.....Probably won't be for a while, though.

    All the best!!

  • i love ur version of this

  • If the death of the swan takes all of us with it, how are you posting that message right now?

  • When I listened to this music, I felt as if I am cradled as the gentle music sways me in peace and tranquility........Awesome!

  • Thanks so much, my friend, for your poetic & encouraging comment! :)

  • I love this piece and you play it very well.

  • Thank-you!

  • Wow i love this song, i heard it for the first time performed live by Natalie Sherer a pianist at the Manhattan school of music and it has such a elegant, graceful, and Grand sound to it. You played it no less than wonderful!!

  • Thanks so much! Your adjectives are perfect & applicable not only to The Swan, but (I think) also to Saint-Saens' music in general. All the best!!

  • Hi Gordon, you played beautifully. I can imagine a swan sliding beautifully across a lake, across its perfectly still water surface. The whole thing gives a picture of serenity, calmness, a feeling of going back to nature.Very poetic as well.

I am a self taught pianist and is currently trying to learn this piece. You are an inspiration to me, and I am sure, many others as well.

  • Hi Dr. Hsu, thanks so much for your poetic comment! It's gratifying to me that you find my video inspiring. I wish you much enjoyment playing The Swan!

I clicked on your user-name & on the link to your forum (which I bookmarked & intend to read more of). You're clearly a great humanitarian, & a great credit to Malaysia. Best wishes in your noble efforts, to you & your family, & with your music!!!

  • Thanks Gordon for your kind words. Just a request, can I post this video in my blog so that more people can have the opportunity of listening to this piece of wonderfully played music? Looking forward to more of your video.

  • Dr. Hsu, I'd consider it a great honour for you to post my video in your blog. Thank-you!

I viewed some of your videos today (including the ones of your beautiful koi fish). I enjoyed them very much!

  • Thank you.

  • To those who have commented thus far, thanks so much for your very encouraging comments! & thanks AllUserNamesTaken111 for your request which I hope to oblige in the near future.

  • well done! more videos please!

  • very good Gordon!!!!!!!!!

  • A flawless piano performance nurtured with Gordon's passion of playing. He seems to dance with the music while playing it. Saint-Saens (La Cigne) is a delicate piece which soothes the senses of those who listen to it, and the arrangement he has made for a solo piano performance is outstanding. He leaves a special spark of glamour and sense of wellbeing in the atmosphere. Come and see him alive. Congrats, Gordon & Cheers! Lucí

  • Such expression dominates the listiner. I could become a fan. I have not experienced such a presentation of Le Cygne

in a great while. Well done Mr Murray.

  • Minsk aut my pupit sista lab Swan. Mak tinks Gordon Murray esta gata artist dank Americakast. Esta moks excellent.

    :)

  • simpler version but nice! what piano was used??

  • Thanks! It's a Petrof baby grand.

  • petrof pianos really sound nice! what are your favorites?

  • I can't answer that so easily (sorry), coz there are too many variables... This piano is what this church has got, & I'm just grateful to be allowed to come in & play it sometimes.
