@remcodelange94 It took about 5-6 years since I started practicing Op10, till I made this recording, and it was still about 60%-70% of the desired speed. I'm no pro, man. I can just tell that you do get better if you keep doing.
@remcodelange94 No, I didn't take lessons those days, but I did take some in my childhood. I usually practice less than an hour a day; I guess the key is just keep doing.
About speed: In all those years I gradually realized that there's no single "hand dexterity" parameter. It's more like a bunch of different *obstacles* that prevents your hand from moving smoothly. So identifying and removing them one by one makes your hand move faster, I think.
It depends a lot on the person physical characteristicas and the techniques they are used to. I personally consider op. 10 no. 1 to be one of the most difficult Chopin etudes, considerably more than op. 25 no. 12.
I think the Ocean doesn't require the big hand this one requires, so lots of people consider op. 10 no. 1 to be more difficult..but not necessarily (sp?) so
You mean the sheet music? There are several sites you can download pdf for free. Search "chopin etude sheet music", for example.
If you try to practice instead of just looking at it, however, I'd recommend to buy one with editorial notes etc. I have a few, including Paderewski's, but I like Takashi Yamazaki's edition that comes with detailed analysis of each piece and fingering/practice suggestions.
I learned op 10 no 1 in about month and I had been playing a year. My speed is about the same.

@anohana Thanks for your reply!
And in those years you had lessons in playing? Seems like you did! You're a good player, I've never had lessons, all learned it myself.
But what you play is so cool, my hands aren't able to make those moves, guess that's just a lot of practising.

It is said that Chopin's Etudes Op.10 NO.3 is difficult.
However, 1&2 is also very difficult.
I recalled the thing in which it had a hard time because of the practice of "1 and 2".
Hang in there!

are you a Girl? I like your legs!....

Sorry to break your illusion, but I'm a middle-aged man.
The reason that the legs look thin is because of the wide-angled camera, I guess.

I also want to play all of Chopin's etudes! You have done a great job, keep it on..
BTW I bet you found that middle section of Tristesse to be more difficult than expected? Because I did...

Having played both, I think Op. 25 No. 12 is more difficult than Op. 10 No. 1.

Certainly not! Op.10 No.1 in tempo is much more difficult than the c- minor.
