  • Damm Ive been trying to get d3o for ages, can I strip irom any items I can buy? Since you dont seel to the public

  • Screw you, Newtonian fluids

  • They should seriously make a dildo out of this stuff!

  • Um "impact gel"

  • where do i get it

  • It may be able to "Stop´" a bullet, but only if it was previously slowed down by a layer of Kevlar or any ballistic material, as it is used more as an internal soft, protection material it will be more useful as the inner layer of a vest, to comfortably absorb and distribute the remains of an impact previously weakened by an outer protection.

  • Is it bulletproof? WILL IT BLEND?

  • where can I get this??

  • Put this in a Parkour shoes and I'll buy them ALL!!!

  • I don't get how this is supposed to help. It just hardens on impact right? Well the force will still transfer to your body right?

  • @KrykoStorm Not really, at least not in my lacrosse pads. It acts like any other hard material that you would use as padding. You'll still feel it, just a lot less.

  • saiyan armor...yes! now all we need is jet-boots and well be set. c'mon science...hurry before im 40; i want some quality Z-time.

  • Where can you buy it when its like a putty?

  • Inspired by corn starch.

  • @Llynok

thats the first thing that came to my mind. a non newtonian fluid

  • Actually, this stuff is pretty good. Cops use "3DO" in Bullet proof vest instead of the old Kevlar, which makes u feel feel pretty poor afterwards, because "Kevlar" force causes fleshwounds, broken bones and large concentric bruises – like getting your ass beat by the atmosphere. Oftentimes the impact from surviving a gunshot will temporarily knock the victim unconscious as well, leaving them vulnerable with a guy that has already made his feelings clear through the administration of bullets.

  • will it work against a bullet?

  • if that really lives up to it's name it should be a bigger leap than so many other advancements of our age

  • 0:21 --> Lol, trigger happy people.

  • Although it seems to have a purpose, there's no such thing as an "Intelligent Molecule." Marketing crap.

  • its actually a scientific definition... but as you say it has no inteligence of its own..

  • So...it's like some kind of super Silly Putty? That seems to be what I'm getting out of this...

  • Why the 6 oz rubber mallet. . .? what about a 2 lb ball pen hammer or a 4 lb sledge. Don't get me wrong, I love the stuff . . . but what are the limits to D3O. . .

  • @Animaltrout Yeah, was thinking about what if someone shot it with a gun...

  • ФАНТАСТИКА

  • FLUBBER!!!

  • Im gonna buy some but it in a glove and punch someone lol

  • yoo is this shit bullet proof because that would be soo bad ass! if its not i hope they are working on it!!

  • Wow this is VERY interesting!

  • theareticly If i were to wear a suit of this stuff.,, and i decided to jump off a cliff say .... the white cliff's of dover.,, .. when the tide is out ofcourse* .. Would I survive .. ???

  • hahahaha xD

    u made me laugh

  • yes, provided the suit is thick enough :D .

  • Same tecnology but more advanced could have a "kevlar" like aplication.

  • Gee, I thought he was going to fall over and bounce...

  • Comment removed

  • lol at the final clip.

"And now for no reason, heres a guy on a bike jumping"

  • I'll be impressed when the military applications start being offered.

  • according to their investment pitch on the british tv show "dragons den" they already have military customers.

  • The Britsh army already have invested in it.

  • an elastic non-newtonian polymer- cool!

  • i have rsp {crps} and have to wear a brace on my right arm. my major problem which causes me a great deal of pain a any touching or jaring of my arm .could this be made into a hand brace.

  • can't anyone guess what polimers do they use?

    don't worry d3o crew i won't copy that.. =)

  • I want that stuff.

  • this is way better then the foney bullshit that the guy that invented the bear suite is making...Troy Hurtubise is a fony dick and he'l never invent something as usefull like the d3o...

  • fantastic

  • wow, amazing.

  • So is this not just a fucking non-newtonian fluid?

    :/

  • Exactly my thoughts. Nothing new, nothing revolutionary. Probably something which should have been done a long time ago.

It's just an advanced version of what they call "silly putty" in america.

    Simply a polymeric dilatant fluid.

I want to see it in action vs a knife, i bet it couldn't stop it.

  • it wouldnt stop a knife its not designed for puncture wounds it was designed for snowboarders who fall alot and smash their head off rocks and ice

  • I t is a shear thickening fluid and is different from "silly putty". It is mor e like cornstarch non-Newtonian fluid.

  • Silly Putty has viscoelastic properties due to the ingredient Polydimethylsiloxane. Viscoelasticity is a type of non-Newtonian flow.

And i quote "The shear modulus... is typically in the range of 100 kPa to 3 MPa"

Quoting a militarycom article talking about body armour and referencing silly putty:

"SillyPutty is a shear thickening fluid"

  • My bad, you're right.

  • @01DOGG01 Ah como estarás pendejo jaja es meramente deportivo wei no es bélico. En todo caso yo quisiera verlo en acción contra una Uzi.

  • @prososlosos Mate you are a complete moron. Do not speak to me in Spanish first of all - it is not a language that I am very familiar with. Thanks to google though i can verify your stupidity.

Here I am discussing the physical properties of a material when some 3rd world imbecile comes along and calls me an idiot and states that he'd like to see it in action vs an uzi.

Did I invent this shit you ignorant idiot? Am I defending it somehow? Why address me beaner? Don't you have a border to cross?

  • @01DOGG01 Ni sabes ingles para que te haces pendejo, soy de cd. juarez y no necesito un traductor de google para entender las idioteces que escribes .l.

  • Usually this shit ends up being fake when I check snopes but I couldn't find anything about it on snopes.

    So... awesome, until proven otherwise.

  • So it's flubber...

  • what happens if you shoot a bullet at it??

  • wondered the same thing... is it some black ops material ??

  • A substance that is soft an malleable that "would spread out on the table if I let it"(thats from the video) however becomes stiff when struck with force. Thats silly puddy. Silly puddy, if you have ever hit it with force will become stiff and rigid, and repel the force, however if you keep the hammer on the puddy without applying any force, the hammer would sink in. They made it stiffer so it wouldn't melt as fast. so no, I am right.

  • so...to sum it up they made stiffer silly puddy?

  • No, Not really, it is very soft and malleable, but when struck, becomes rock hard

  • no your completely wrong, candle. when moved slowly the particles move around freely. but when struck with speed, the particles almost instantly lock together and become hard. they are intelligent molicules.

  • you spelt molecules wrong

  • i say lets shoot this shit

  • If a person had enough money to become batman then he would probably use this material to make his cape.

  • Wow that's awesome!

    <-----not being sarcastic

  • Haha, 0:23. But this really cool. I used it for a science project in my class, and its really interesting.

  • it stops pricks hitting you in the chest

  • Oobleck

  • yup a Non-Newtonian fluid

  • Wow, thankyou!

  • it stop bullets?

  • this shit could make seriously good running and jumping SHOES!!!

  • it would but the cussing was not necessary.

  • Reminds me of the liquid they integrated into clothing to make it bullet and stab proof

  • can't stop a bullet. it can only protect against blunt force

  • theres no fricken way that this stuff stops a bullet... A bullet would just RIP through that stuff!

  • Freakin sweet how do i get some?

  • You need to take them to dinner first.. oh you mean the D3O?..

  • wow

it took 1 month to think that one up eh

    no no it was funny

  • Where could I get like... just a blob of d3o? Like to play with? How much would it cost?

  • there is a material that is very similar to d3o, it is in blob form, it is by Remo and it is called Remo Putty Pad, it is used by drummers.

  • can I get a box to protect my family jewels made from this stuff?

  • I posted that question somewhere else but i'm very curious, can this stop bullet or what?...

  • This guy, Richard Palmer actually has eyes just like Roger the Alien from American Dad. Thats probably why he has a breakthrough textile, he is an alien.

  • I would think this d3o stuff would be helpful for long falls and hits with blunt objects

  • I want to shoot this

  • i was just thinking about that :D

  • oooh .. it's a magical non-Newtonian substance. Let's call it orange glop. If you wish to make essentially the same stuff at home mix: corn starch and water in a large bowl, color it orange and then hit it with your fist. It will instantly turn into a solid then back into a liguid. Just look up Glop in Google. The Catholic church has been using glop for years to freak people out

  • Exactly. It's what known as a Dilatant fluid. These types of fluids exhibit an increase in viscosity when the rate of shear is increased.

The opposite of this is a pseudoplastic fluid (decrease in viscosity when shear rate is increased), an example of which is tomato ketchup.

  • when i search glop in google the result is that is something to eat; thats why is called an invention

  • corn starch and water - mythbusters

  • Err...it's more complicated than that, I'm sure you'll find that the corn starch and water will only take a certain impact, not like an impact from a shovel say. But I could be wrong

  • Resembles silly putty lol

  • friggin billionaires very soon.

  • how would this stuff work as a mouth piece?

  • ^^ good question

  • ^^ good question

  • I love materials 2.0.

    I would buy that.
