  • The Bassman is killin it! Wish Dangerous Dan wouldv'e got a solo, Awesome video thanks for sharing

  • Dickey Betts is an amazing admirable figure in the musical history, he is more than deserving of returning to the Allman Brothers.

  • Actually the opening is a Tribute to Jerry Garcia, and the DEAD. Remember "Roll away the DOOB"?

  • @phallystorm The Deads Frankilin Tower is its real name,(Roll away the Dew), but when We were in High School 1075 we called it Roll Away The DOOB!!!

  • YES!

  • Grande Dickey !!!!

  • @keyrat87

GReat bass player killer groves in the beginning and one hell of a guitar player and singer himself..

  • like ive said before, Dickey Betts is on of the greatest American guitar players of all time, pure soul and emotion it is nice to see him still in action and playing great music...

  • As always, Dickey went NUTSSSS on the guitar..... but did anyone see that bass player? Holy shit. He RIPPED IT up

  • @papasmurftw You put a smile on my face. The bass player is my only son. Check out some of his cd's

  • @captcin wow i had just seen this comment. is that actually your son? he has immense talent, and i'll gladly check out his CD's! =)!

  • I love dickey betts. i like him a lot more than derek trucks

  • Who is that young drummer? Nice playing

  • Oh man, this guy makes me happy - Dickey Betts -soul in the fingers

And the band are very good, the bassman is amazing

  • Love your pool .

  • One of my very favorites and I remember going to buy the Setson for Pedro and the Texan that wanted him to cut off his dreds to fit into a smaller hat. I almost killed the guy.

  • Dickey Betts - The best frontman there ever was and the reason for the Allman Brothers Band - Juiceman

  • I saw the ABB when Dickey was playing with them near the end of their tenure together and he was drunk off his ass. He was slurring his words while singing and his guitar work was a mess. That was a constant problem with him. Also, he thought he was the leader of the band and the other member had had it with his arrogance and drunkenness. 'Nuff said.

  • great song. intro kinda reminds me of song "heaven" by Los Lonely boys. i'm sure this song is older but... i just heard "heaven" first, may have been inspired by this. maybe not.

  • @kthcsh yeah dude this song is from 1972

  • @kthcsh I think it was. They sound like they must have grown up listening to Dickey.

  • Dickey Betts is a phenominal guitar player without a doubt, he should stick with guitar playing. As far as the new ABB, they are as tight playing wise as anyone around and I think tribute goes to Warren Haynes for that. Dickey will always be an original, but Great Southern is not in the same league by any measure.

  • If anyone belongs on that stage its The Sherriff Dickey Betts........

  • Dickey is always pure class on stage. Great sounding band he got here.

  • WOW!!!!!

  • 2:00-2:04 The battle of the drummer and the flimzy mic stand.

  • Not sure if the DB and the Great Southern are still touring but I saw them about 5 years ago and they were absolutely amazing. Far better than when I saw the new Allman Brothers, in my opinion.

  • the beginning intro is a tribute to the Dead>>>Roll away from Garcia and the Boys!

  • Where is Dickeys Son Duane? Dan is there, but I do not see Duane on the other Les Paul.I also agree 100% with ebgb1968 comment above!

  • @phallystorm I don't think he joined until after Dan left in early 2004.

  • @Jamdor78 Or maybe it was early 2005. Anyway, this show was in 2004, not 2006.

  • Dickey is the master

  • I could listen to this all day.

Nobody makes music like this anymore.

The three most important things in a great song....melody, melody, melody.

  • Keys are freaking awesome!

  • Bass player's sound is not quite "bottom" enough and too much riffing. This hot dog need to find himself a funk band!

  • @anthonycrystal33 i totally agree with what you're saying... theres something off about the sound... care to expand on what you were saying? is the bassist trying to do too much? what do you mean dickey needs a funk band?

  • @fcbtim not enough bass in his sound & too many bass riffs when the solos are played. the bass player sounds like he'd be a great funk player! Dickey needs to be in the ABB! RE-UNITE the ABB!

  • @anthonycrystal33 maybe your PC needs AudioEngine2 stereo speakers? I hear plenty of bass and over all the sound is friggin amazing on this Dicky Betts YouTube!!!

  • @fcbtim I am sorry. I miss spoke. I meant the bass player was good enough to get Berry Oakley's original guitar from Dickey and that is what counts. No one else has rated that.

  • dont forget gregg narced out scooter herring...............

  • My Favorite Song Of ALL TIMES!! <3

  • I just want to say that I did not really appreciate Mike Kach (piano) at first. I think because he seemed so laid back. But, now I think he is great. I really enjoy his playing, especially on the Live Bootleg album.

  • Fantastic piano solo!!!!!! Right On!

  • I always love watching him in concert go from franklins tower by the dead into blue sky...and pedro is so energetic and a solid bass player who also has a great band...

  • dickey is AAB

  • i think dickey is better than even duane, maybe not techically but with his tone and peaceful phrasing he is jst fuckin awesome. blue sky is my favourite tune in the world (apart from freebird)> Bristol UK

  • If you listen to Duane's solo on the blue sky recording, and his playing in the last 3-4 minutes of mountain jam you can hear his peaceful phrasing too. Also, listen to Duane's tone on the Fillmore Concerts: it is so much thicker and fuller sounding than Dickeys whose sounds thin if compared

  • there will never be another dickey.. period.

  • i know a lot of people talk about what he did an who died which i respect an what not but man....don't anyone think he's got a bunch of real cool cats makin good sounds?!!

  • Love it. That syrupy sound of his is just great!

  • Dickey was and is THE Allman Brother's He was one of the original members that started the band.I'm a big A.B.B.fan but how can you get rid of one of the members that started the before the other real brother joined the band.Don't forget what Dickey gave to the band before Gregg even showed up.

  • Greg & Duane had been playing together since the early sixties DB came into the band in 1969...time line.. 1963 the escorts -1965 the Allman Joys-1967-68 the hour glass

  • Musically I agree he's unreal, but he became undependable. With getting arrested all the time and not letting derek have any space. The band was made for two guitarist he just didn't want to share the stage with derek.

  • @ebgb1968

but that does not change the way he acted towards the band he was kicked out for a reason and that is simply because he was acting like an asshole. he is really talented but he was an ass.

  • @ebgb1968 exactly. dickey started his own band and he doesnt even nedd a.b.b. he made that band. thats just like if the beatles tried to play without lennon or mccartney. man what were they thinking?

  • Does anyone know who the piano player is?

  • mike kach.

  • @electraglidelyle Yes Mike Kach and he's amazing. One of the best jamming keyboard players out there.

  • @electraglidelyle Mike Kach

  • @electraglidelyle I forgot I was there. Actually, back stage. Two of the band members were very very sick through this whole thing. Dan actually ran off stage and had to keep throwing up in the garbage can right next to me. They think they both got some bad chicken for dinner. It was sad but it never hurt the music.

  • That's my boy on the bass.

  • @electraglidelyle I think it is Mike Workman, we lived in the same complex at one time.

  • I saw ABB at Jones Beach the day JG died- a very sad day for music... but Dickey played his ass off and made many references to Jerry and his feelings about his passing- it was a very special evening indeed, very cool to hear the boys jammin' on some dead songs.

  • dickey hasn't been in the abb for years

  • @OhYeah729 he was still in the band at the time of jerrys death, which was in 95'.

  • Dickey has been doing Franklin's Tower as a lead into Blue Sky since Jerry Garcia died. He does it in honor of him.

  • I love the chromatic licks dickey always tosses out there. I have learned a bit on the guitar from the man.

  • VET NR LIJPPPPPPPPP...

  • sounds like the grateful dead doing blue sky lol

  • I also thought it sounded like the dead, but the beginning sounds like Franklin's Tower!!

  • it is franklins' tower...he's been doing that as the intro for BlueSky for the past 8 years or so.

  • Dickie always seems to enjoy teasing the Dead's Franklin's Tower at the intro of this song.

  • another great version, dickey never fails to outdo himself
