excelsior could do much more evasive action and get underneath it, take out its life support, fire a few photons into the big launch bay thing and boom.
why would you send out basic tie fighters against an actual ship? id thinking more along the lines of Tie Advance and bombers. Although the lack of deflecter shield on the tie advance is made up for with its increased speed and fire power.
The guys are right about the ISD being small, it's 3x the Excelsior's size. The Excelsior hitting the TIE should be like a car hitting a bug, however, not exactly catastrophic damage. Maybe a cruise ship vs. tugboat, but no water to sink the ship.
Good start, and glad to see another person bridging the Trekkie-Warsie gap.
depends, there were a few problems in accuracy with this vid, like the TIE Fighter having an exhaust from the central vent rather than on the engines (which are to either side of that big black spot on the back)
it wouldn't be unheard of for a TIE fighter to have Torpedoes and Missiles, a Concussion missile would have done the same damage as that ramming (equivalent to 6 Photon Torpedo hits). and yeah, an Excelsior is about 511m long, an ISD is about 1600m long.
@Perion The ISD got 60 heavy turbolasers, and 60 NK-7 ion cannons .... why sould they even think of wasting TIEs with this action? An ISD is a deadly enemy, in minor ablation they could blast every same big ship from the sky.
@HafdirTasare dunno I agree that the TIE Fighters aren't really necessary, neither is the ISD though really, would be easy enough to take down an excelsior with a corvette.
First off, the Excellsior class ship was firing from the wrong places. Second, the music was badly mangled(what the heck did you do to the Imperial March?!). Third, an Imperial Class Star Destroyer is waaaaaaay bigger than that!
I liked the video, but the size of the Star Destroyer was vastly misinterpreted, 1Mi is much larger then that, unless you meant to represent a Victory Class Star Destroyer, which is roughly less then half the size of a Star Destroyer, i give the video a 4/5, because of the un-biased ending.
Amazingtuna, why would you insult someone who could cure a disease? It's like let's say someone found an ingredient for medicine and is about to make the cure, you call them stuff, and they throw it away. If you treat future doctors like that, I'd hate to see where the world goes now. Besides, I'm not exactly sure how reading SW information would qualify him to be a doctor.
The video was pretty good, all things considering like the movie maker, bravo.
so what if I do, SW is an interest of mine and I prefer to know the specifics. I understand that there will never be an accurate SW vs ST vid but come on, getting the correct number of TIEs acutally matters. Im entitled to my opinion so piss off. Oh, and dont make fun of someone who's mother has had lupus for 20+ years and I have to stand there and watch her deteriorate every day!
ok underbull, CALM DOWN ITS A MOVIE JESUS IT WAS GREAT AND JUST BECAUSE HE DIDNT USE THE "SPECIFICS" DOSENT MEAN ITS NOT GOOD and as for the creater him self, GREAT JOB, KEEP em' coming. i agree with wheeljack35, intelPhoenix31...u suck, same with darthvader3023, ALTHOGH gargle guy has point about the shooting, and shortyblue...is that nessary? but cool
This movie is completely fake. TIE flights deploy in groups of four, three of which make a complete squadron. Why is it that only regular TIEs are used? Wheres the TIE intercepter or the TIE Defender? Also, nobody takes into account all the turbolasers, ion cannons and missle launchers on a star destroyer, you have 120+ weapons alone. The ray shields on an ISD are capable of repelling phazers easily. Do your homework before making a SW vs ST vid.
Actually, a full squad is about ten TIE fighters. Interceptors and defenders are not as well known, hence their not showing up much in this kind of thing, and no-one will even be sure who will really win because SW ans ST are different universes!
nope, a squadron is 12 TIEs which are then broken down into flights of 4. I agree that the TIE defender isnt as well known but the intercepter is as well known as the TIE.
The intercepter, although a better class of TIE, only appered somewhat briefly in episode 6 and was never mentioned. It also appeares in the Empire at War expansion pack, but that's not the point...
true, but if you read the books the empire was phasing out the TIE for the intercepter. That was the main reason that the intercepter was first introduced in ep6, the empire had only replaced roughly 20% of their fightercraft. That and all the SW games featured the intercepter.
What books? Could you tell me, I need new ones. Also, not ALL the star wars games. The ones that take place in the clone wars don't, Battlefront1 doesnt, KOTOR 1-2 dont, and (before expansion) Empire at War doesnt.
do you have any of the essential guides? Theres one for vehicles/vessels, weapons/equipment, planet/species and one other. Yeah, i forgot about the pre-empire games. The first EAW doesnt go after ep5 I think, idk im probably wrong. Too bad battlefront1 doesnt have intercepter, I liked that one better than 2 cause the TIEs dont have torpedos, sucks that they didnt put bigger maps so fighters could have some room to fight.
I dont have any guides, but I skimmed through a few cross section books. The un-expanded version doesn't go past the first Death Star, so you're right in a way. I didnt like battlefront2 either, mostly cause my it had framerate issues on my comp...
yeah, you should get them, they have a bunch of info that alot of SW folks dont know about. If you can, buy the older and newer versions of the guides. The older versions have more detailed cross sections while the newer versions have more up to date info.
don't be an idiot, all the games you mentioned but battlefront took place before ties even existed....He probably means the rogue squadron games, you know, the ones about FIGHTERS? Don't be derisive

nice that the ramming was rather accurate, in that the ISD didn't appear at all damaged by the end of the vid.

Something about scaling is wrong, I'm inclined to think the Excelsior is too small.
Both ships should be compared based on the size of a person, it should be easy since looking at the bridge is all you need to do.
Shatnerpossum 2 years ago
If anything the Excelsior is waaaaaay too big. To give perspective, it's only about 100 meters or so longer than the bridge of an ISD is wide.
millenniumfalsehood 2 years ago
@bjmfamily i dont know how big the Excelsior class is, but the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer is about 1,600 meters, so i think you may be right^^

Why do all Star Wars fans think a Federation Starship is a push over?
If the ship blows up that close to the Stardestroyer it would take it down with it
The Warp core wouldn't have time to be jettisoned and there would be a massive explosion
