I love their new stuff as well, but I have to agree 100% with what the guy that posted this said in the description. They lost something in the recent years, especially in live performances. I saw them first time around 2000 in a small club, and they rocked the fuck out. Seen them a few times in the last couple of years and it was a bit of a bore. Still, love Modest Mouse!

I'm defending Isaac, everyone's bitching about how Isaac being a drunk makes them suck live and how when they play their songs live they are totally different from the studio version. Isaac Brock is one of my favorite rock vocalists/instrumentalists. Along with Jeremiah Green, top 5 drummers I've ever listened to. No, the reason people don't like Modest Mouse now, is because more people like them. Their music hasn't gotten, worse it's gotten more popular. Isaac has actually been a drunk, he did some things live while intoxicated, which has for some people ruined their image of him. I know what he's gone through, so I don't let that change how I see him, he's still one of my favorite songwriters ever. Yeah, obviously -- good news came out in 2004. What I meant is that all of the really good trio (Jeremiah Green, Eric Judy, Isaac Brock) albums were released in the 90s and early 2000s, and in the past five or six years the band has dramatically expanded and the sound has really changed -- and not necessarily for the better. I would have given anything to see Modest Mouse in its original trio inception, or the sometimes quartet incarnation that happened live.

so they made a noticeable change, it's different, but you can still tell it's them. It's necessary for band's to add or morph their sound otherwise they'll stay bland and boring and end up becoming like Darkest Hour, being around for a while yet still opening up for new and fresh acts.
