  • 1 person got 75% when they were asked their name.

  • @neilaspin2 yes, I am from Mexico

  • GENIO TOTAL!!!! ♥

  • Please, please, PLEASE post this routine in it's entirety!!! The version from "Dead Parrot Society" is pure genius.

  • Not only Peter Cook but also .............

    One is an iconic genius;

The other plays guitar with 'July' the iconic psych-rock band from the 60's

  • Has anyone noticed that he hardly blinks at all during this monologue? I wonder: Did he do that consciously or was it part of his comedic intuition?

  • @mfisher452 Not blinking was one of Peter Cook's trademarks. I would urge everyone who enjoys the humour of Pete and Dud to get hold of a copy of their film "Bedazzled" (NOT the Liz Hurley remake). Made in the 1960s but the DVD quality is fantastic, and it's one of the funniest things you'll ever see.

  • he's so beautiful

  • NOT complete at all!!! Left out the best part!! Come on - I used to sit around and listen to the audio recordings of this 30 years ago and I remember the part about dropping coal on his foot and the part about when you get too sick, stupid and lame to work in the mine, you have to quit - it's just the opposite with the judgin' Do you know where I can find the rest of it?

  • I'm wondering how he could do what he did without dying laughing. He was funny to look at, funny to listen to and a real gift to us all. For all you real fans: we all know the speed of light: but what is the speed of darkness? I don't recall an answer to that question but I'd love to hear if Peter thought of an appropriate reply He did come up with the question..I'm sure it was heading somewhere.

  • You don't have the whole thing

  • Peter Cook could read a menu and I would die laughing. Fantastic genius, nothing less.

  • agreed!

  • I dont get it

  • Gerdrako20 - If you aren't being ironic then quite frankly I don't get *you* :)

  • @lukertweek I don't get it either.

  • @Gerdrako20

I can't believe you don't get this gold

  • LOL Peter Cook FTW

  • ahmed mahmood mctaggart

  • he hardly blinks! classic classic, his humor has to be one of the only things i can still laugh at

  • cliched? thats like saying the life of brians cliched-peter cook was in a leauge of comic genius that can only be defined as timeless...

  • a pioneer (PERIOD)

  • HEEEEEEEEEEEEERBS!

this was the first thing I ever saw Peter perform

  • Peter Cook = Pure Comic Genius

  • Ah yes, wise words in mouths of fools do oft themselves belie

From a Shakespeare send-up from Beyond the Fringe.

  • The best bit of this sketch is missing alas

  • Is he making fun of the audience here? I mean the jokes are so obvious and surreal, yet they keep on laughing. E.g. the Marcel Proust thing: the reaction showed that there aren't particularly many miners around.

  • that is the point!!!!

  • Does anyone know where I can get the DVDs of Secret Policeman's Ball or Pleasure at Her Majesty's? I used to have the VHS tapes and I'd really like to have them on DVD.

  • people come stumbling out saying omg what a rigorous exam!

  • tHE kING OF LAFTER IN UK COMEDY HISTORY THANX FOR POSTING

  • Do you have the rest of the sketch?

  • Much respect. Beyond The Fringe started what Monty Python and others continued.

  • Was this on Dead Parrot Society?

  • No it was the original Secret Policeman's Ball

  • @JoeChrisMorris yes it was

  • "jolly good, the very thing we're looking for"! lol, he's hilarious

  • also.... very handsome too

  • This and the viper sketch are my favourite xD

  • comic genius!!!
