@Donald6899 Actually he initially started taking prescription pain killers for a back injury and then was given more following multiple surgeries. It is not uncommon and extremely easy to become addicted to prescription drugs for chronic pain. Also many doctors don't want you to stop taking them because it makes more money for them and the drug companies. He did try rehabs (private and on tv) several times. It's sad he couldn't find the strength to stop.
I remember the film Grease when Jeff played Kenickie in the film, and he was absolutely amazing, and I couldn't believe it when I heard the sad news now that he has died, which was a total shock and Jeff will be so sadly missed. Rest in Peace Jeff and God Bless.

I remember the first time I saw Jeff Conaway on the screen in Grease. It was love at first sight! When I saw he was in the show Taxi, it was love all over again. He even put out an album at the height of his career, which at the time I thought was pretty good. I think its sad that he died so young.. and being hooked on drugs just wouldnt let him do all the things he wanted to do like have a comeback. Hollywood life does a lot of damage to some people and jeff was one of many stars who lost their life to drug overdose, unfortunately. He was a great guy and the small parts he had on film and tv are the ones that will have him in our hearts forever.. we love you Jeff... R.I.P

I liked how he got his role on Babylon 5. Apparently he showed up just to watch the filming because he was such a fan of the show, and when they found out who he was they tried to give him a cameo, and when that went really well they decided to give him a re-occuring role.

@Donald6899 Actually he initially started taking prescription pain killers for a back injury and then was given more following multiple surgeries. It is not uncommon and extremely easy to become addicted to prescription drugs for chronic pain. Also many doctors don't want you to stop taking them because it makes more money for them and the drug companies. He did try rehabs (private and on tv) several times. It's sad he couldn't find the strength to stop.

I remember the first time I saw Jeff Conaway on the screen in Grease. It was love at first sight! When I saw he was in the show Taxi, it was love all over again. He even put out an album at the height of his career, which at the time I thought was pretty good. It's such a shame to see this wonderful, talented, handsome man fall prey to a dead end road like drugs, and alcohol addiction. The sad part is, is the outcome is always the same. Their life gets taken away way too soon. Miss you Jeff!
