Look at the woman playing the rhythm guitar. Look at her try to understand how anyone could write a tome like this. revere Phil Ochs. This is my mantra too. I thank him for it. MY pen wont write a lyric line when i'm gone. Please. Dylan could things with words and music. But not this, not often. There is a song by a guy named Brian Wright called Live Again. That comes close. And he's playing in LA right now and they're lucky they can hear him .
Phil gave his all for the cause, unlike ego-fueled rock stars of his era who gave the appearance that they were. He had nothing left in his tank in 1976 so he left without fanfare. Sure he had ego but he wasn't a slave to it.
Phil's music as art is not new to my ears...the description of his pain was however. Phil is but one of many other tormented creative people. Not excusing his behavior, but it was his behavior and not ours...so we should not judge
For the critics of the speech overlays during the song...this is a segment from a DOCUMENTARY, not a performance per se. Buy a vinyl LP (not CD)...that is the format to remember his genius
What a gorgeous song, and Phil looks and sounds so young and vibrant in this clip. I'll never forget your music or your message Phil, I'm sorry your path ended so tragically.
I'm just discovering Phil Ochs, Man he is somthing can't understand why he is not so well known in Europe. Love this song and everything I've heard of his. Thanks so much for this all my regards.
Is there anywhere we can find the whole unadulterated performance of this song?
I waited so long for this documentary hoping that it would provide entire live performances of at least some of his songs. All they do is tease my by showing me that they exist but cutting them off and/or putting other dialogue over them.

May God take Phil in His Arms. What he saw and said far overcomes the mistake he made. The Pain he suffered. In my life, Phil Ochs Lives.

What a beautiful song. How sad that it is marred by those disruptions.

I'd like very much to see this performance without the news clips. It must exist. Phil's in his prime here.

You will have to excuse my ignorance, but who are the other folks that Phil is sharing the stage with?
