is it legal at any paintball fields to launch paint grenades out of one of these? i wonder if that would work.

No. If you are playing in a big game with tanks, most fields will let you use it with a nerf ball to take out the tank but not against personell. Also a paint grenade can cause serious dammage to a person at that speed.

I'd be carefull of a full PVC design, i've just read several articles where homemade PVC law rockets have exploded due the the pressure. best to go with a Metal expansion chamber with some sort of pressure relief valve as well.

@yelloj i think they used the black kind of PVC which is not pvc at all, and would explode if pressure was put into it.
