  • Fakk off !

  • love them all... topper headon is incredible!!! love to see his drumming

  • I love it when Strummer improvises in Capital Radio-yes yes manchester gig!

+ in What's my name; HERE WE ARE ON TV, WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ME? WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU? :D

  • My favorite band of all time.

  • The thing I remember about this gig is that it was preceded two weeks previous by a gig at the Manchester Apollo. The Clash were supported by Richard Hell and the Voidoids, however, when this hastily arranged gig was announced at the Elizabethan Ballroom in Belle Vue Manchester, instead of RH & TV, Siouxsie and the Banshees was announced as the support. From what I can remember Siouxsie came on and told us Dickeys mum wouldnt let him out tonight, so we had to make do with the Banshees!

  • I wish i could have been there with you man. Just curious, how much was price of a ticket if you can remember that far back. Might be asking too much, sorry.

  • this was my first gig ever! I was only 15 and probably wouldn't have got in if the doors hadn't been trashed. If i remember right the admission should have been 60p!

  • I think this must have been one of the best gigs that anybody could have attended as their first gig. I think you were very lucky and I love the bit about the doors being trashed. brill.

  • Sorry Amin was 50p

  • It doesn't get any better than that

  • lol we crashed the doors !

  • this is really amazing.

  • So ...err what happened outside then?

  • outside troubledbrides dad was 15 months away from porking troubledbrides mum.

  • i was there, anyone who was there will know what happend outside

  • so you went to a gig 2 years before you were born?

  • dont be a plonker, i dont tell the truth on the internet anyone who does is a fool

  • whatever you say....

  • it's a Les Paul Double cutaway, Cherry Red by the looks of things!

  • fill her up jacko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Here we are, on tv, what doesn't mean to me? What doesn't mean to you? FUCK OOOOOOFF!!!!!" Looooooool ahahahah great Joe!!! The Clash are greatest rock 'n' roll group of all time... the only band that matters!!! OOOOOH WHAT'S MY NAAAAAME, NAAAAAME!!!

  • FANTASTIC! W JOE!

  • Any1 know the style of guitar that Mick is playing?

  • It's a gibson sg

  • It's alright found out it's not a gibson sg but a vintage Les Pauls Junior, sorry!

  • Great quip from strummer:

"We're just gonna tune up so it sounds like the record. Who wants it to sound like the record?

    Me neither!"

    lol

  • Top quality stuff this is pal ta very much for posting it.

  • THANK YOU!! this is my favorite band and I've been looking for this footage since seeing part of it in Don Letts 2004 punk documentary. their so dam electric!! the best band ever!!

  • Sexy!!! XD

  • ★★THE★ONLY★BAND★THAT★MATTERS!★★

Many copies of varying quality are available. For example the gig features on the DVDs "The Clash on TV DVD. LIVE! RARE! Vol.1" and "THIS IS TV CLASH 1977--1982". There is also a self-titled (but w/ s instead of z in Elizabethan) bootleg released in VCD format. Granada TV filmed the gig. There are also other sources for video. Check the blackmarketclash website out.

  • Simply brilliant! Punk's NOT dead!

  • Priceless footage of one of the only bands that mattered!

  • those are some pretty fucking lucky kids in that audience

  • Magnificent post. They pulled together so many different styles and ideas and rehearsed like crazy and then hit "shred". So fun and cranky. It is as fresh as ever. Thanks

  • This shit brings tears to my eyes. I wish I could turn back time and experience it all over again. Fuck...those were great times with great bands. Thanks

  • "here we are on TV, what does it mean to me? what does it mean to you? ... fuck off!" this is joe public speakin'.

  • not "fuck off" , fuck all.

  • hehe, maybe...

  • *points at camera* Here we are, on TV!

Joe was amazing. Really connected with te audience..

  • great footage, but too quite compared to same videos on Youtube.

  • Best Clash video ever! I love the end of Capital radio and when Joe asks everyone if they want Whats my Name to sound like the record. :P

  • Hey, did anyone tell you the sound is a little low??? Hahahahaha. Great footage, great fucking band. Those were the days. Thanks.

  • This is really quiet, i had youtube volume and speaker volume on full and it was just as loud as the studio versions on half volume, o well, still awesome footage, i reckon some of their best songs are in this concert.

  • Nice lyrics: "I don't want to hear about what the rich are doing/I don't want to go to where the rich are going ..."

  • A small part of me is bitter that i wasn't around then to witness a band like The Clash!

  • bad luck.you wont see anyone like that again.

  • Great video! Can't keep a good man down. God bless you Joe!

  • cheers 4 posting

  • The sound is a little low but I'd have 2 agree best gig I've seen them play!

  • did you try turning up the volume on the video window? or on your computer, I dont get it, all my videos sound good enough on my rig. what gives?

  • I turned the computers volume to full and youtubes volume then I had to turn my speaker volume to twice the volume I have to normally maybe its just me!

  • Yeah it's really quiet, I had to put everything to full to hear it properly. Even then it's still too quiet for my liking! :o

  • Legendary Clash
