It is always better to use your pinky nomatter what anyone says, at the end of the day guitars an expression of yourself, play it how you want but to it is easier and more efficient to learn to use your pinky, but there are plenty of great guitarists who dont use their pinky, Slash is an example.

Noone said it wouldn't be better.. I'm just saying you don't have to stick it into every chord / position just to make use of it. It's not by coincidence fingers are marked from 1st to 4th as index finger being the 1st.. you don't play a simple powerchord with your 2nd and 4th finger when you can do it with your index and ring fingers do you ? And btw, Slash does use his pinky ( wtf anyway with that statement ? ), it's just that the songs he plays rarely require it.

look up dave mustaines spider chord and it proves u can use your pinky for a power chord...also when you play complicated power chords riffs when playing dropped, instead of using a million hand poisitions and doing the song horribly, bar your pinky (which is something i doubt u can do based on your argument) and play the riff much cleaner....Bottom line theres no reason to avoid using ur pinky, in fact mines stronger than my ring finger now =)

And 3rd, yes I can bar my pinky. I don't know which is it, your incapability to understand what I'm saying, whether that you don't know a thing about playing guitar since you have to keep on stressing about how I'm not using/or be able to use my pinky based on this particular video. I still play this song the way I do in the vid. I've got guitar in my grasp 13y for now, and the way the pinky settles ( it's not behind btw ) has just came along the way. Never found hard to play with it from that "position". I don't know if you see it there or not, but I actually use my pinky for 3 - or 4 notes in this clip.
